Dakka Veteran

Okay, So I'm sure everyone knows right now how the Death Wing Assault rule works. Pick turn 1 or 2, and all units with DeathWing assault come in.
So to go along with a turn 1 death wing assault, if you take a single Droppod it will also come in automatically turn one. So the question I pose to Dakka is. What would be best to put into that drop pod?
I've already thought about putting a Veteran Company into it, loaded up with combi-melta, melta and multi-melta. But there would be no real advantage to take this up to a full 10 man squad since the rest would just have bolters.
If I add a techmarine, can he join the squad? If he has servitors would they end up joining the vet squad as well?
Anything I'm not thinking off that would spell "Bad Day" for my opponent?

Oh, jeez, hang on.
I get what you're saying now, sorry.
You're saying that you would use Drop Pod Assault alongside a Deathwing Assault, I get it.
So it turns out that you can now take Combis on every single member of the Veterans Squad per the recent FAQ here http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m2960142a_Dark_Angels_v1.0A_JANUARY13.pdf
Also, since Veterans Squads can never be scoring units, you could always get a Company Command Squad instead. A CCS can get an Apothecary and they can also get actual Meltaguns for roughly the same price a Veteran would pay for a Combi-Melta. So you could get 5 Meltaguns on a Company Command Squad for only slightly more points than a Veterans Squad with Combi Weapons.
I would give them 4-5 Meltaguns and make one guy an Apothecary.
This kit contains 5 Meltaguns http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440339a&prodId=prod1710020a
This kit contains a Company Command Squad with an Apothecary model http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat860007a&prodId=prod1050238
Up to you though what you want to do. A lot of people have said Veteran Squad with Combi Meltas out of a droppod. I personally would get a Command Squad with 5 Meltaguns and an Apothecary for a suicide melta unit.

He means use the "drop pod assault rule" as in half of his drop pods come in turn one (rounding up). If you were to do this, I would take a dread armed with a MM. That will REALLY mess with your opponents target priority options.

I think the Melta Dread would be the best option as well.

Yeah, I need to print off the errata and stick it in my codex.
But thanks everyone for your thoughts. I'm sorry if I didn't make things clear in my first post was a little rushed.
The Melta Dread is a cheaper option But I have a feeling the Vet Squad would have a better chance of surviving for a second turn.

That second turn though, what is it you think they will do? If you equip them with combi weapons, they will just be sitting around with bolters...

You could always combine it with a Company Command Squad in a LRC with the Standard of Devastation. Drop in vets, drop in Deathwing, roll Dakka Banner forward (move it flat out if need be) and next turn the Veterans can let rip with the bolters.
Hell, even after the combi weapons fire the squad still has a potential two special weapons and even one heavy if you are so inclined. So even if the rest of the squad just have bolters left, they still have a decent amount of firepower to spare.
And for extra fun, 5-man assault squads are great ways to grab some extra drop pods to maximize drop pod assault. Equip them with a couple of special weapons, grab a combi-weapon on the sergeant (and maybe give him melta bombs) and swap their packs for pods. They can form a cheap second wave of distraction units that can cause a bit more damage.
Though using heavily armed Company Command Squads makes for a great show as well since they can all have special weapons. Hell put the Dakkapole on them, pop them in a pod and have them come in on turn 2 (rolls permitting). Now the dakka vets can start their second turn off with a bang. As I said, lots of options there.
You can get some really scary localized firepower going with the Dark Angels.

Banner would synergize better IMO with large volumes of cheap MEQ Bolter Marines via naked Tactical Squads, IMO. If you're throwing one squad in a droppod out there with the Banner you're risking the Banner's radius not affecting a single squad.
Plus you can only have 5 models in a Command Squad, so you're talking about 5 Bolters, which means at best 20 Bolter Shots, but not on the turn they Deep Strike because according to BRB for Deep Strike rules, they count as having moved. Looking at Salvo rules, you can only use the 2 shot profile with Banner of Devastation, so you'd only be able to deliver a maximum of 10 Bolter shots from a Command Squad with a Banner of Devastation and even then only at 2 inch range, which you'd be able to do even without the Banner of Devastation with the baseline Boltgun profile. Which, not to mention, a baseline Tactical Squad of 10 Marines, which would actually work out to be cheaper than a Command Squad with a Banner of Devastation, could fire 20 Bolter Shots at 12" or 10 shots (which the Command Squad could -not- do with Banner) at 24" on the turn they deep strike.

They go for Linebreaker and harrass enemy rear echelon units in support of the terminators. done with Deathwing Assault it adds to your opponent's targeting priority woes
