I saw that Toys R Us had marked down their Gears of War Erector sets this week and I'd been tempted by the Armadillo set before. At under $20, I figured I'd go ahead and get it. After building the thing, I noticed that it seems to be just about the right size for 28mm miniatures. So, I figured I'd snap a few pics. I figure that some of you guys might be interested in converting some for your armies or something. It's certainly cheaper than buying a Rhino for your space marines. Plus, the line has that awesome King Raven helicopter.

Anyway, some pics for those who don't know what the Armadillo looks like

There's only two exposed Erector pieces on it and they're on the front and back. The front piece can pivot up and down, though it serves no real purpose here. In the game, these things were bigger and acted as troop transports. That front hatch was actually the hatch to the troop bay and that front plate would lower to the ground when the hatch opened. Here it's really just for decoration. Also, all three turrets rotate and the guns can pivot up and down.

with some of my marines for scale purposes

And yes, the hatch does open and can even fit a full miniature and base in the cockpit.

Cool looking project, it looks a bit tau like for me.

When you can't see the drunk guy at a party, you should look for the nearest mirror.

Dang that looks pretty sweet! Maybe you could pop the wheels off and put some Land Raider tracks on there along with some sponsons.

Might be a useful count- as transport for a Human Auxiliary squad in a Tau army (plastic Guardsmen & Firewarrior kitbashes).
