in the light that warmachine khador big robot things can be used as alternatives to GW's dreds, I was wondering what offering therer were from other model companies to replace the really bad flyers GW does for marine armies, I have seen the storm Crow from puppet mini's But are there others?

Even model kits will do.

Nevermind. The one I found was the same you mentioned in your post.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

Use Imperial Navy flyers, since that's what "space marine flyers" would have been before GW's recent discovery of the "a flyer for every army" cash cow. It's fluffy, it looks like it belongs in the same game (the third-party kits look way too different from 40k's style IMO), and you don't have to worry about being banned from GW stores.

Stormtalon = Vulture or Lightning

Nephilim = Avenger or Thunderbolt

Stormraven = Caestus or Storm Eagle

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

I like the Thunderbolt & lightning and I plan on getting a Valkyre,

I was wondering if there were any non GW/FW option out there?

Not worried about using them for a game or being 'banned' from a store as dont really play, its mnore for the painting and modelling aspect.

Can't say I approve of those, they look absolutely nothing like a space marine unit and would look really out of place in a marine army.

One choice is the cheap flyers by the Russian company Tehnolog/Robogear found on ebay for less than 10$:

The first one looks awesome for an Infinity board, or something Mass Effect themed but I think it's aesthetic is too different to the 40K universe.

I agree they could look out of place, but it all comes down to the personal aesethetics of the OP. I'm just throwing a link here, as I think that what AWorkshop has is looking nice.

That's actually not true, if you're speaking fluffwise.

There's a reason that the Land Speeder Tempest is in the "Aircraft" section of the Space Marine stuff from FW. It and the Thunderhawk were presented as the Marine's direct access to air support.

Speaking for myself, I would have no issues with someone using a Tempest to represent a Nephilim or Stormtalon. Especially if someone were to add rocket pods to the underside.

Caestus and Storm Eagle for a Stormraven is a given.

Sure, but the Tempest is only used by some chapters and not really a true flyer, while the Thunderhawk is obviously limited to situations where a superheavy transport/gunship is useful. In a situation where space marines wanted air support other than a Thunderhawk it would be provided by Imperial Navy aircraft. That's why in 5th if the flyer rules were in effect any Imperial army could take IN aircraft as heavy support, and you'd have, say, Space Wolves with a Vulture.

The idea of marines having their own aircraft beyond Thunderhawks was just a recent invention after GW realized that Vendettas were selling well and it's time to start milking the flyer cash cow with every other army. Show someone in early 5th a picture of a Nephilim and they'd accuse you of making it up.
