I've bought a box of Lootas/Burnas and am itching to get to building the Lootas.
Until they arrive I've been wondering whether I can take the bits for the burnas and use some Ork torsos to build them. Is that an easy process or does someone have a guide with how to do the conversion?

Not entirely, you have the shave off those little belt pieces on the shoulders, some torsos are more difficult then others. They are however completely compatible with the ork crew that come with the battlewagon.

Rick Priestley said it best:
Bryan always said that if the studio ever had to mix with the manufacturing and sales part of the business it would destroy the studio. And I have to say – he wasn’t wrong there! The modern studio isn’t a studio in the same way; it isn’t a collection of artists and creatives sharing ideas and driving each other on. It’s become the promotions department of a toy company – things move on!

Why anyone buys those boxes is beyond me? I make all my lootas out of looted heavy weapons and boys. Why spend the extra cash when you probbaly have the bits laying around?

The Burna weapons/back packs should be used on the torsos in the kit. They have certain details that line up on the shirt collars and whatnot.
The Loota weaponry and harness fit on regular torsos.

The lootas are some of the best looking models out there if you ask me. Lots of character and over-the-top, as Orks should be. Not sure of the hate, here.

I just feel ripped off by getting so few lootas for the price. Also I cant stand seeing the same guns on differant peoples lootas. THey are looted from all sorts of races why would they look even remotely the same?
I guess it comes from me starting in 2nd edition we did not have alot of the kits that exist now so we had to make our own stuff. YOu wanted a Skar boy you made one, you wanted a Battle Wagon you took a land raider or something and made one.

Four lootas, plus pieces for and extra boy, plus a bazillion burna bits. I still have random bitz to use from the burnas after only buying like two boxes. And yeah, i think the models look great as well. Honestly, the only kits i buy now are boyz box, nobz box and loota/burna box. All else can be kitbashed from that or scratch built.
EDIT: of course, even then i still don't buy those directly from GW.

To be fair, the loota box has a stupid large amount of bitz.
I was angry when I first bought a box too, until I opened it.
I friggin love the loota box. So many cool bitz.

+1! You can do a lot with such a box. 4 Lootas for sure, as well as 1 Mek, 4 Burnas (by using Boys bodies) and lot of spare pieces to make other units look damn cool

In my opinion, the Loota box is worth it for the burna head smoking the cigar, with the slot cut out of his faceplate.
Brilliant.

Yeah to be fair the loota box is essentially the "all the cool gak ork infantry can carry" box, and reminds me of the nob box (As in, friggin awesome) You get alternate heads by the dozen, specialty weapons (the big shoota looks particularly cool for example) not to mention tons of gubbinz and bitz.
I don't know how GW tards out with literally everything else, but I friggin love their ork kits.
Probably the only time you'll hear me openly praise GW by the way

Cheap ork start
2 boxes lootas
1 box boys
black reach orks
Use boys box to use up spare loota/burna bits.
Cut arms off black reach boys, and glue shoota arms on, or run as is
