I just thought to use marine models instead of vehicles in an IG army with the standard vehicle rules.

The normal marines could be sentinels, terminators could be heavy support, for example a termi with cyclone could be manticore, and it would be great if an assault cannon termi could shoot as a punisher russ

According to fluff a space marine should be though as a LR on the table.

Do you think it's a good idea?

Using INFANTRY as vehicles? Uh. That goes beyond what even I would be willing to allow, and I'm very lax in these kinds of things. With the line of sight system and movement that would just completely mess things up.

They would be on a vehicle size base to not fit anywhere, not climbing up to second floor ... so move like the vehicle would.

They could hide easier, but could not cover nearly as much behind them, I think that's a fair trade.

The line of sight may be similar if put on a pile, so the head would be where the turret is.

"According to fluff a space marine should be though as a LR on the table."

According to fluff a simple lasgun can kill marines.

The Tick: Everybody was a baby once, Arthur. Oh, sure, maybe not today, or even yesterday. But once. Babies, chum: tiny, dimpled, fleshy mirrors of our us-ness, that we parents hurl into the future, like leathery footballs of hope. And you've got to get a good spiral on that baby, or evil will make an interception.

Sorry, I meant a termi and practically a simple marine is quite safe against a lasgun.

Nope.

Just.

Nope.

It's not even making sense fluff wise. If you make termis LR for instance, Plasma (which is KNOWN to toast Termies) couldn't even touch them. Also, las-guns CAN kill Marines. Really easily. All it takes is a lucky shot to one of the exposed joints (like the neck). It happens quite a bit in the fluff

You are right. I just thought it's a quick and easy way to have some kicka... marines.

Just say screw it and make a Spess Mehreen count as a Chimera, then try to model it so it looks like he's carrying all 12 guardsmen with one hand and a multilaser with the other. Because that makes sense, right?

I don't even want to know where you'd stick the HK missile and hull mounted HB on him...

....what in the world? What made you come up with this ridiculous idea?

While we're at it, I think I'm going to proxy some grots as my Medusa cannons. Sure it means that they can get cover almost anywhere, but now no one can take cover behind them! Certainly a fair trade!

/facepalm.

If the Space Marine is a Chimera then I can't wait for a unit of guardsmen to 'deploy', presumably from his ass.

I would accept if you modeled a bunch of Space Marine standing on top of each other to make a box shape with one of them propping up a battle cannon. Rule of Funny would override my inner gamer. Otherwise... nope.

I can think of a wide variety of examples of how little sense this whole thing makes, but I tried to be polite in the first post. But I think we're just being trolled by the OP anyway.

There are days that I think people like OP are trolls. There are other days I think they are genuinely wired that way and aren't trolling at all. I don't know which day is worse.

Hold up, I'm going to model a marine as a transport Thunderhawk, he can carry the Rhino's in one powerfist, and the Marines and pilot in the other, and have the guns mounted on his crotchplate.

I can't think that the OP is serious... I pray it's subpar trolling.

Thank you, I expected constructive criticism and ideas like this.

For the others. I intentionally did not mention the chimera cause it's really stupid, but it's not my stupidity it's yours.

Came into this thread expecting to see a new IG player thinking "hey, space marines are awesome, their tanks must be too!" where I was prepared to question his sanity at length as to how he could view any army's vehicles superior to the armored might of the Imperial Guard.

Then... I see this....

I don't know what to believe anymore guys... hold me...

Ok well.....honestly....I don't think ANYONE would actually accept this....the whole cover saving trade-off, isn't big enough. At all. It also doesn't make sense, at all.

BUT

If you somehow modeled them all in a giant, similarly sized, box with it holding the correct weapons (so one guy has a battle cannon and the other a HB/HF).....well.....I would laugh my ass off, and then play it....if you have proof it's about the same size, it's ok. But as it stands, no.

Then it stands like this.

I know it's a weird idea, but there is no rule that forbids discussion of weird ideas. I think it formed to something quite reasonable.
Thanks for everyone who knows a discussion thread is there to discuss things, not for itching.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
There could be one termi for each gun and one with a force field generator.
The FFG would give the armor, the hull points and the explosion effect ... model wise it could have a shimmering effect that would show the frame. This way a guardsman squad could be covered also.
