Love the drop ship. Question about the laser what about cutting it in something like Acrylic or 1/4" ABS plastic instead or would that increase the over all cost? I like the MDF, but I would like a plastic version if lighter. Whats the thickness of the MDF? Here is a Link to a US Plastic Distributor that sells the 1/4" Thick ABS http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/item.aspx?itemid=23013
Either way color me interested in the drop ship, I would love to have a large flyer for my big games.

We are still working out the costs of all the casting and burning, as well as the development time. Right now, we are aiming at $130 -$150 including shipping to anywhere.
I can't commit to those numbers right now, though, because we still need to work out a less labor-intensive method for creating the turrets and sockets, as well as the big space gun. We also need to finish the landing gear. We are looking into making a flying base out of plexiglass, but that might have to be an (inexpensive, I hope) add-on for those who are interested.

I am liking the look of the wings swept forward. It makes the bulk of the wings look farther forward and more towards the apparent center of gravity.
As far as "dealies" on the tips of the verts, those are USUALLY (in my experience, at least), some sort of antenna. On the F-15, for example, the left vert's "bullet" houses an antenna at the aft end, and the right (which is much slimmer) "bullet" is simply a solid weight to balance out the left one.

I like the double tail and forward swept wings, definitely. Honestly, the closer it looks to a Thunderhawk the more likely I'd be to buy it, and happily pay $130-150. Not that I'm expecting a Thunderhawk replica, but I really do like the boxy shape of the thing.

We have tried acrylic and sheet styrene/plasticard and some other materials, too. Mostly, they melt. I think some of the acrylic we used had trouble with superglue, too. We haven't tried ABS yet, though. Thanks for the link!
I think our MDF is 1/8th inch or 3mm. We just made a huge order with a great supplier so that we could keep everything consistent for a big run, but Terry is the one who knows all the details, and he's in his cave now. Automatically Appended Next Post:
We hope to have pictures of the dorsal turret up by next week. Then we'll tweak things based on feedback and we'll be ready. We are also finalizing the guidelines and pricing we need to have in place for the logo burning option. So, hopefully we can start selling the dropship in two or three weeks. For one thing, MDF won't let us make realistic airfoils

Oh, I know. Just thought you might get some ideas for your "dealies" on the tips of the verts. I like the dropship, but must admit that I'm slightly more interested in the Dark Elf castle walls.

They look great... I'll probably drop $100 on your site in the next month for 40k terrain... I'm torn between the 2 Dwarven Halls and 1 Grand Entrance, 2 corridor kits and a barricade kit, and a Dark Tower with some Dark Elf walls.... I will say, when it comes to covering a board with diverse terrain, the SciFi kits seem like the better deal.

I think they look great. They're what first made me start paying attention, since I was looking for some DE type scenery. About the only request for a change I could see is asking if it's possible to get an alternate front gate piece, as I like the skull, but I'm not sure that every castle/fortification needs to have the same gate ornament. Maybe an add on line of just that part, in various alternative decorations? As much tentacled Kraken themed imagery as you find in GW's Dark Elves these days, that might look pretty cool as the first alternate gate decoration. It'd appeal to the Cthulhuesque aesthetic, too.
Again, I'm not saying I don't like the skull, but I think giving the customer the choice to buy some alternate looks would do well.

Dropship is 100% into shut-up-and-take-my-money realm. Easy call.
The Dark Elf Walls look fine, but don't really "pop" for me. They're good walls, but they don't seem strongly DE. The skull seems, if anything, more chaos marauder than DE.
That noted, I'm also in the camp of some other commenters here, just waiting for the dropship before I get an order going.
Been kickstarter-ing so much lately it feels weird not just to pay for it now and wait

@Lobukia, the elf walls do not fit directly against the tower. We will make a connector piece to fix this, but the connector will not be able to hold 30mm bases.

We will make a Cthulhu-faced gate soon, but first we have to finish the dropship and put up the siege tower. We may bump around some other releases, too, if we have trouble getting the Cthulhu face to look good. If the first draft or two look as bad as my screaming elf face, it might be a while.

The turret itself should be removable. The barrels of the cannon fit over little nubs on a cylinder of resin that fits in the turret housing, so you can make any barrels you want out of styrene tubing, so long as it fits over the nubs. You wouldn't even need to magnetize it.
Most of the top, the thrusters and all of the wings and tails fit in pretty well using tabs, so you wouldn't need to glue them on if you want to have access to the inside. Automatically Appended Next Post: Lobukia wrote:Regarding the drop ship, does it have an access ramp under the nose?
Yes, but it's not directly under the nose, but farther back under the chainguns. It is smaller than the back ramp, but probably fine for any 28mm figures. Automatically Appended Next Post:
The dropship should drop in a couple weeks, and after that we will start seriously working on the Cthulhu gate. When that is finished, we can release it all...unless there is a delay on the Cthulhu gate. Then we might just release the walls just to get them out there. The gate has just been a tremendous hold up and a real party pooper.
