you are right for the most part, except for the necrons. prime example that they were around is Manus's hands, and then there is the Hrud floating about until the iron warriors nearly killed them all...

Yeah but there aren't enough Necrons around to constitute a galactic threat and therefore be a major race. Just because they exist doesn't mean that there's enough of them.

Ward also wrote the Space Marines Codex, which is a very solid codex... doesn't have a lot of the flash that other codices have, but still good nonetheless.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't just me, but did anyone else picture the Megarachnids as being almost exactly like the bugs from Starship Troopers? I definitely got that impression when reading the books, but I may just need to read them again, it's been a while...

I thought that too But then again it was because I wanted to think of them without thinking of Nids, so they were kind of a weird combination of the bugs from Starship Troopers and Zerg.
Also thanks to the mod that deleted the comment

Thank you for posting those pictures and grilling Alan Bligh, and then sharing stuffs, linnear.

I haven't read all this thread so excuse me if its already been discussed but on the subject of Xenos in the 30k games there will be none.
To quote Alan Bligh in a seminar the Xenos are either dead or in hiding. He described a galaxy that was on the verge of being purged of aliens.
So those that are hoping of sideline races that appear in the novels are going to be disappointed. It's all about the IOM.

I mean, the Tau Empire is just a tiny spec on the map, but GW threats it as a major power just so they can sell more models. Why couldn't there be other xenos races in 30k that have that same level?
And that's just it; there's lots of human civilizations, xenos and the like which challenged the nascent Imperium of Man, and such diversity is what I would enjoy. Marine on Marine on Marine is just boring, truth be told. Easy to balance, absolutely, but lacking the diversity which makes 40k so interesting.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

You all seem to be getting confused with 30k vs HH. The new dimension of the game is centred around events of the HH not the 30k universe.
So Isstvan V can be recreated first and foremost. As events of the HH unfold that's when new legions will be released. It's very clever on GW part the way they can drip feed their customers with new lines making us want more and more and asking what's next.
It did make me lol to hear them talk positively about the iron hands and how ferras manus being killed is ok because they continue to play a role throughout the HH. I felt like standing up a saying 'dude their primarch is dead! Who's going to want to build that army!?' Maybe that's just me though...,,,
