Well at one store I know of there is a seperate computer than the one the staff user for the till, a touchscreen mounted on the wall. It hotlinks only to GW, FW and BL, and you can order away there. You still don't have the ship to store option like on the GW main section but if you give the store address they are more than happy to hold it for you.

Yes, which is entirely pointless as shipping to the store doesn't cut out the shipping fees. Rather you could just have the order arrive at your door instead of having to commute to GW to pick it up. At least that's the odd situation at my GW, which perplexes me greatly.

Well there is some other good bits but I'd rather not say in case GW are lurking and it goes away. Not even over PM, sorry. Paranoia.

If it fixed FW's pants-on-head stupid shipping, it'll be swell. Actually, that's all but guaranteed if it's a unified infrastructure, which is good. Though since very little from FW is under the minimum amount to get free shipping at present, that threshold may change, who knows.

My concern is not so much prices getting jacked because GW being GW, I'd imagine FW will still retain control over that, it's just unified webservice for lower hosting costs and better exposure to customers, but instead what I'm more concerned about is regionalized pricing. It's no secret people outside the US and UK have to a smaller increase in prices to buy FW than regular GW, for Aussies and Kiwis, it can be cheaper. I imagine GW would "adjust" regional prices in line with their regular product, and since FW is not wholesaled, there'd be no way to get around that price change; no discount retailers, no US retailers selling abroad, etc. If that were the case, it'd likely end my Death Korps army. The markup that would appear on big-ticket items due to the "you don't live in America" tax would drive already very expensive product into the stratosphere.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

This is my fear. The only way around it would be to have a friend in the UK who could buy the stuff for you and then foward it on.

The "pants on head" shipping, as you put it, is also easy to get around. It just involves spending 250 quid all in one hit so you get free shipping.
That's not always practical though.

Tell me about it. Well Canadian prices aren't nearly as bad as Aus prices, the Canadian prices are starting to get their too!

It if wasn't for shipping, I could get a Forge World Land Raider MkIIB for a few dollars less then the plastic kit is comes with! Except I get a bunch of cool resin upgrade bits by getting it from FW. If I could just order a Landraider MKIIB and get free shipping straight up, why would I EVER buy the $110 land raider ever agien?

Sadly Regional pricing on FW is only a matter of time when you think about it. GW must have started to notice this.

The problem with isn't the $400, but the $150 UPS fee; UPS charges $76 for processing customs duties, and the duties themselves are about the same value. So, really, it's $150 shipping on $400 of product. Customs here in Canada is notoriously under-funded and under-staffed (lost hundreds of jobs about a year ago), but they will process high value orders as it's cost-effective to do so.

Besides, 250 pounds is an insane free shipping threshold, most are between $50 and $100 USD, which falls under what will usually by assayed, unless it's a single item, as that takes less time, regardless of value, but even so, the UPS fee will be smaller if they're used (the fee is based off the value of the total order, not the custom charge, which is charged as well).

Erebus looks great, probably pick him you to use as a Dark Apostle. Didn't FW show him at the Open Day. Not convinced about Kor Phaeron hopefully he'll look better in person.

Actually, they don't have to produce much at all. They would just need to repost all the stuff that "disappeared" from their website in the last few years. They have decades of hobby material already at their fingertips that they can easily use.

Of course half of their old hobby content needs updated as well, either referring to scratchbuilding terrain (they sell that stuff now) converting with bits (no bits service) and painting (all the paints have changed.

Ah that sucks. So if they only process high value orders does that mean you can't import things that fall under a certain amount or do they not charge you for smaller packages?

You're right on that. $250 is obscene. Considering even Geedubs limit is 30.

I just save up my funds and order in bulk from them. Spend over a certain amount and shipping is free *and* they seem to move you right to the top of the order shipping list. I get my large orders shipped much faster than when I would order in smaller amounts. Spend that Thunderhawk or two on actual minis instead of shipping fees.

And it does not even matter, since the customs are going to charge so much for a 400$+ order that you end up paying shipping regardless.

So they don't use an express version of royal mail but rather UPS for the expedited shipping? I participated in a store order a few years ago and I don't recall us getting hit with any UPS fees.

It's dependent on where they're importing to. I don't hear of US citizens getting dinged for big orders, I have no idea what your threshold is or how US customs works in that regard, my only experience is with Canadian customs. Small orders are fine, I've taken to ordering a single FW product at a time and it works well, it actually costs them money in some cases. FW books are expensive, but $12 shipping on a $100 book is actually lower than the real shipping cost, as air mail is based on weight, and books are not light. Otherwise, paying between $4 and $10 shipping, based on what I generally order, is lower than ordering stuff from the US, and since Royal Air Mail is an amazing postal service, I usually get my stuff in about 2 weeks. Not bad from the other side of the world, and carried along the last leg by one of the worst postal services in the developed world.

Canada has a lot of things going for it, its post is most certainly not one of them.

I think at this point every canadian message board i go to has a on going thread called "i hate canada post" for a reason. The private contractors are the worst. They dont even try to deliver packages. They just leave the door knocker with out knocking or anything. Then drive around all day with your package in the back of their truck.

I reckon it'll be Mortarion and they'll save Horus for a while, but hopefully they saw how popular the SoH stuff is compared to DG and bring the Warmaster out soon, I will be getting him. To use as a BM Daemon Prince if nothing else.

You know that international shipping is expensive, right? Try shipping a $100-ish FW kit yourself and you'll see that offering free shipping would probably mean selling at a loss.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

They'll defiantly have a new primarchs on sale they love releasing primarchs early at events. I thought it was going to be Ferrus is that not what Simon Egan said at the Weekender? That would also make sense as it ties into the new book.

But when would they do Mortarion then? They will probably release Horus at some point in the future, maybe nearer the siege of Terra but by at point morty is daemonfied meaning he would need a different model. I strongly suspect its him...

It's almost certainly Ferrus, as the sculptor who did Fulgrim was doing Ferrus as a 'diorama piece' to go with Fulgrim.

It's Ferrus Manus.
Simon Egan was working on it back in April, he said it was going to be released after Fulgrim when I asked him about it, so I very much doubt that it'll be anyone other than Ferrus Manus.

Well technically everything is after Fulgrim now, so in theory he could release a secret Mortarion project as GW loves. Having said that it'll be Ferrus Manus having realised this.
