Yay! You put a smile on my face! I'll go have a look now.

Another update from me. I really need to sort out my photography set up again though, these pictures suck and I'll have to photograph painted minis before long.

I feel terrible. My Al Hawwa has been waiting for me to finish her rifle for about a month now, and I've been busy painting Tyranids and Space Marines.

Hopefully I get some time this weekend to finish her rifle, get them all dullcoted and get their bases finished. Then just 4 models left for the whole 200pts.

You should try making a pledge if you need some extra motivation.

That doesn't work for me. If I force myself to paint, I simply end up not painting. I need to be motivated to paint, which comes and goes. All of a sudden on the weekend I got the motivation to paint a Salamander for old times sake, and ended up planning a 1500pt army, while getting close to finishing up my Carnifex.

I'll get around to painting Infinity again, it's just not what my mind is on.

I dare say Infinity will be back in my mind soon though - I'm going through the motions of buying a house, so spending money is SEVERELY limited. So Infinity will probably be at the forefront of my gaming for a while.

Yeh it's best to do what you feel drawn to. Problem is I'm also a procrastinator so the pledge thread is good to give me a little push to pick up a brush rather than staring at the miniatures.

I look forward to seeing what you'll be tackling next when Infinity comes back to your desk. In fact, I'm quite interested what's on it now. I'll have to check and see if I missed an update somehow...

To be fair, pledge threads got me through my Hassassin spitfire and nearly to the end of my Hawwa.

I've already started basecoating the next model, my Muyib with Rifle. I've just had a few distractions.

The good thing with Infinity is while I might get distracted, it don't have a bunch of models to paint then I go back to it. When I get distracted from my Tyranids, I've got 30 odd models left to complete my 1500pt army still.

I find that sometimes actually with the Infinity stuff.. the models are so detailed, and sometimes I'm up for having a go at painting one, other times I don't have the energy. So, in that case at the moment I'll paint some Dreadball stuff, or some terrain, that I can just sit back with and splash on some paint.

Like playing the game itself, I think painting the miniatures for infinity is a very intense experience. At the risk of sounding like a prat, I would liken it to eating a gourmet meal where you have to enjoy and savour every bite, but it takes some effort on your part to get the most out of it. But, sometimes you just want to put your feet up, watch crap TV and empty a packet of unhealthy snacks into your mouth

Those are good points. I particularly enjoy the analogy of a gourmet meal, it's very apt and I often experience that lack of motivation to take on something so intense.

I think I'm nearing a blog update now, a couple of miniatures almost finished with the conversion stage. Anyone else planning an update?

All this Infinity talk has given me the Infinity itch again. Thanks guys!

I'll probably finish up my Hawwa this weekend, get cracking on my Muyib, and dullcote and base everything already painted.

It's for the best. I can't get my Salamanders table ready without spending a few hundred dollars on them, which is money I simply do not have to spend for at least 6 months. So going back to my Bugs and Haqqislam is probably for the best.

I've got my QK started now, with the alguaciles (3) and mobile brigada, as well as some Hafzas, a Djan or two and some Kaplans.
Still have to get some Ghulams and a small tag to use as the iguana.
I've got to get some shots up now that the eye is getting better.

Had my first snag in a while - missing parts. The Kaplan spitfire didn't come with any arms or weapons. I could have emailed CB and got the parts in a couple of weeks - but I had a game that I wanted to use him in - so necessity being the mother of invention, I improvised.
I picked up the husam spec-ops (he's becoming another Hafza anyway) and used HIS spitfire and a pair of arms I had from my bits box to fix mister KTS spitfire, though. Works enough to pass muster.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

Shame about the missing parts and not having time to wait on replacements. I'm sure you made it work though. Looking forward to seeing all those plans come to fruitition and I'm glad your eye is getting better!

Interestingly, to me anyway, it looks like I'll be adding a small update to my Infinimunda blog soon as well as my Bakunin blog.

Enjoying that conversation about motivation. I understand what you are saying about the intensity of painting infinity. I struggle a bit with motivation (definitely spend a lot of time staring) but I the motivation you need for painting one type miniatures is totally different from the motivation needed for another type. Painting infinity, the models are great and a joy to paint, but you're right, it can be a bit intense, possibly due to the concentration involved. Getting motivated to paint my space marines is different, I'm intimidated by the numbers of similar (sometimes boring) models to work through.

The intensity thing is right though. Same as video games. Dark souls is the best game I've played in years and years and years, but sometimes I just can't face it. Just stick on ace combat or something.

Got two muyibs painted last night though, and got a wee start on a land speeder this morning while my stuff was still out and she was still sleeping. So a successful couple of days.

@alanmckenzie - That's an interesting point, i think a lot of entertainment splits into those two categories, even non interactive stuff like reading or watching TV. Sometimes I want to put on some sitcoms and chill out, it takes a little more focus to watch a documentary for example but in the end I often find that experience more rewarding. More often I find myself going with the less interesting option which probably has something to do with the human want for instant gratification. Interesting subject...

@bantha_beast - I'll head over and check out your updates right now!

Put up an update for my Infinimunda blog for a change!

The Philippine summer si almost over, so Art School teacher heartserenade is now (almost) free to finish my whole army. It's almost finished: just a janissary, a Hunzakut and an Asawira. But I'm planning on adding a support pack and Scarface and Cordelia in the mix, and I might start on ALEPH.

Here's my showcase thread. Although I'm more inclined to update my painting blog on the Infinity forums since it gets more publicity there: http://infinitythegame.com/forum/index.php?/topic/14525-painting-chinese-odalisques-heartserenades-painting-blog/

Cracking thread mate, I'll add it to the OP and I hope you do update it! Also there is another painting contest soon which I'm sure you'll be psyched for.

I wish I could be more specific about how soon as people want to know and I've been saying soon for ages but it's completely out of my hands now. I'm just waiting on it going live like everyone else.

Your stuff is absolutely stunning heartserenade, have really enjoyed looking at your blog. Love it when people look at the miniature more like an art piece, and less like a BLAM-finished now let's play with it-style (I often do far too much of the latter!)

I tried to get an update up today but I was too late to catch enough natural light for pictures. I'll grab them in the morning instead.

Probably my biggest update in some time on my blog. Subject is Civilians for Infinity, I have a fair-sized collection of them now and will hopefully be writing some rules for their use in games (as a gamesmaster-controlled or limited element), more details soon.

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/210/396797.page

Any C&C greatly appreciated!

Since the Dakka Painting Challenge: Two Tickets to Paradiso is now underway I thought it'd be nice to showcase the top three entries from the last competition. You can find all of the entries from the last Infinity Challenge here.

So here they are:
1st Place - Haqqislam Saladin by bou

2nd Place - Yu Jing Tokusetsu Butai by LeoPelo

3rd Place - Securiate w/ Combi-Rifle by heartserenade

Made in us
Hacking Shang Jí

Chicago burbs

Ug, that doesn't make me want to try lol. I don't think I can even get close to those three. I'll still try but man the competition kills me before I start!
