@ King Comfy:

I cannot speak for everyone, but thank you for your candor - I am appreciative of you having a go at this particular genre, which gives a miniature lover like myself more variety.

I am a fan of horror, and in particular, B-grade horror, and Spinespur has enough of that horror element (or whatever you wish to call it) to draw me in.

I wish you the best in your future endeavours, and hope that whatever issues you faced have been successfully resolved.

I stand by what I said. If you think thats picking on you, thats not entirly correct.

And as an add-

My questions still stand- unanswered.

As to the other stuff- I'm not here to pee on your shoes. My personal opinion is justified in my eyes and if you don't like it, maybe you'll take it and run with it, or give me reason to think otherwise...

I've got three teams + of these guys, and I've played a few more games with added other minis from other lines, There are a few things after the fight that you get open season on the defeated team/ casualties that just is what it is.

As to the "Stories" in the book? Yeah, the stuff is indeed Edgy. I like it, so your not worrying me if you don't want to throw Cinderella in there. I'd deal with her in the same way as anyone else in game, anyway.

I was a fan of the game until I didn't see anymore support for it. If there would have been more or even additional discussion after the fact, I would have justified it continued support. Stuff was hard core, then you stopped putting out for it, and went on to the other- scattered different projects- It gave "Comfy Chair" a look like they were reaching.

Seeing as none, then seeing additional attention drawn to other avenues- Yes, your methodolgy is scattered. If you think thats "Mean", sorry for the honesty. I don't know you from adam in person, but I liked what I saw, until I stopped getting support.
The game was cool, but the lack of direction, not so much.

I don't need to call you in on anything, either- I was genuine in my displeasure in being left holding a game that was inactive and uncompleted.

You made me feel like a shill, and that in turn ticked me off. And yes I said that your personal life is not my issue. Why should it have to be? I'm outright telling you that as far as a GAME is concerned, that I don't have to know whats going on behind the scenes, I just need to know that I'm not throwing good money after bad.

It isn't about anger or crying over spilled milk, either. It's about that I found a game interesting and pushed it on other people to carry it, then have to look at them with egg on the face when I am the one getting braced over where the support/ game went.

My questions still stand, and like it or not, they are going to stand on anything else that comes out, as well. I never called your character into question, got pissy or personal, or anything in between.
I was the fan of the game. I liked it, but didn't like that there was nothing going on after I got into it and tried to support it to an empty audience.

Sorry if you think it differently. More horror isn't nessesarly describing how exactly one- comes back to life. and WHO and HOW exactly HE does it.

I was hoping for more Horror movie element, and you never did go into the other territories or the other bosses. Hurst's stories are still only a 5, and the rest of the material is as open eneded as it was 5 years ago.

I didn't read anything about anyone picking on him. What I read was him telling certain people they were passing on faulty information, and it doesn't seem like those people have character enough to come back on here and admit to possibly doing the wrong thing.

I'm not sure if he was saying it was just a divorce or if those other things actually happened. But if it was any of it, you really don't have any compassion for some of them very terrible stuff? Wow. The other thing is, it looks like he's back and trying to make things right, and all you're doing IS peeing and shoes. The thing about models is that they don't go bad. They don't rot or need to be thrown out. Whatever models you bought, are just as usable today as they were the day you bought them. If you want to play with them again, he's trying to release new stuff so that you can not only play with them again, but you can finish the line, AND the 1st stretch goal releases a game that you can use models you thought might not be as useful as they once were. Sounds like value to me.

And yes I said that your personal life is not my issue. Why should it have to be? I'm outright telling you that as far as a GAME is concerned, that I don't have to know whats going on behind the scenes, I just need to know that I'm not throwing good money after bad.

This is pretty self-centered in my opinion. If the guy had cancer or lost a child, you can't comprehend why he might've went on hiatus? All you care about is that you want to know that you're not throwing good money after bad. That's cold. I didn't know why the long break either. What I do know, is that I can now finish off the force I wanted to. When I heard what might've happened, I felt a little bad about anything I said about slow releases. I don't know man, nothing personal, but I just think that's pretty crappy.

If you want to be angry because were completed some models you like in a book were not completed, at a time when they are attempting to complete them, Then I really don't think anyone can help you see the forest through the trees.

Your cut and paste troll post is noted.

Not that you read through anything I said anyway.

Thanks for that.

Where do you get off on oversteping your bounds, anyway. YOU said you were one of the writers, if thats the case, there was plenty of opportunity to step up and continue the product.

You sure were happy enough to take money for the stuff, wern't you? There are examples about of what I'm talking about, how do you want to twist my basic observasions around and make me into some sort of bad guy? I wasn't "One of the writers". I'm not the one poping up here making excuses for halfsteps and trip ups.

I was and am a genuine fan of the game. I am not a fan of the half-assed way in which this particular product is being shilled out and then seeing you coming up in here all holier then thau over it, when it was YOU supposed writers that seem to have missed the mark and dropped the product.

You think I'm talking about this guys tragic personal stuff? Get over yourself and stick to the subject at hand, don't make this into more then it is. We are talking about the gakl way in which this particular game is being nonsupported, then adding in stuff on a KS that is for the same- unsupported game. Don't mix the two subjects together.

Why exactly would I want to continue supporting this sort of behavior? Am I missing something that if you gak it, your supposed to get a free pass to gak around some more?

No. You aleviate the issues and step up, because if not, those particular issues are going to continue, you fleece me for a few more bucks, then disappear for five more years.

I'm sorry, but no thanks.

Really looking forward to finishing my collection of miniatures for this game. The Radiants are some of my favorite pieces which I have wanted to see for ages.

It was a real shame that some of the greens that were sent away got lost in the post.Hidell looked really cool.

Now I need to start to get more scenery for the game.

Good luck with this Bob I will be backing it at the $65.00 option.Looking forward to seeing the stretch goals reached too.

Yes. Because commenting on unethical business practices by a company that's trying to get your money is "the wrong thing." I still stand by everything I've said. Everyone involved with the original project I've talked with has been extremely unhappy with the way it was handled. I don't see why making that public knowledge is "wrong," but if you'd like to keep shilling, by all means do so.

EDIT: I will say, I do appreciate you making your case, KingComfy. I'm not calling you a liar, I'm just telling the side of the story that I've heard from my friends who have worked on Spinespur. There's a right way to handle these things (your way, KingComy), and a wrong way (accusing everyone who disagrees with you of being a liar of having a "geek-vendetta"). Having your employees pop out of the woodwork and start calling people liars (especially without disclosing that they worked on the project), is pretty damn far on the wrong side.

Hate to say it but coming on here and saying that "some people I know" didn't like how spinespur was created or didn't get paid is a punk move. If you don't have the stones to tell us or the creator who this is then why are you posting it? No one has anyway to verify what you are saying. You might be right or you might be a liar but either way at least have courage to give details so the man can either look into it or refute what you are saying.

A couple of updates for you (a double dose as KS failed to email me the first)

Update 7
Cards and corpses, get em while there hot!

In other news, we will be taping a quick demo of the game and hopefully be putting the video up on Monday. This demo is going to show you the basics of Spinespur, and how intuitive, and fun the game is.

We have also faded the shadowing on the model in your next stretch goal just a little bit, to give a little tease of the model your pledge helped unlock. More add-ons will be on their way as well.

Thank you everybody for your support.

Sincerely,

Bob Mervine

Update 8
Hello everybody,

I wanted to give everybody an update on what is going on from this side of the computer screen. Yesterday me and a buddy videotaped a demo of the gameplay for Spinespur. him not crazy about how it ultimately came out, so I've been sitting here ever since creating an animation for an example of gameplay. This animation should be finished by tomorrow (Monday) and up on the kickstarter for you to view.

I did something a little different with this. The video is actually more of a slaughter as we have put HACK up against 4 Thugs. This shows the brutality of gameplay without getting too caught up in all of the special abilities that the character models have.

Now for 2nd piece of great news, I have just signed on an extremely talented digital sculptor who will be doing a number of pieces to finish up the line. This means we should have digital renderings of a number of the new models before the kickstarter ends. This should be really cool.

Also, if you haven't noticed yet we have added a number of new add-ons that you can pledge. We just put up 6 new add-ons today of the new models we need sculpted to finish the 1st book. So if you're interested in any of them, then stop by the Kickstarter page and check them out. We need a little more than $500 to unlock the next stretch goal.

Thank you everybody for your support.

Sincerely,

Bob Mervine

I was sort of on the fence with this, the miniatures really pushed me away because I dont like any of the sculpts.

Coming back to this thread and reading through peoples posts have put me off all together, In a good way since I now will save some money.

I agree with him, particularly your posts and the back and forth they have prompted.

This should be a thread that informs people about this kickstarter and the progress made. Instead it has devolved into a lot of petty squabbling.

Maybe they will update the webpage and foot some more stories, now.

Don't take what I said negativly. I throw this stuff out there frome someone who played the heck out of the game and really liked it, the got the feeling that he'd been taken by the short hairs when attention devolved to the other projects, and the eventual silence.

It's a good game that deserves some attention. Hope it does well, would really like to see that church of metal faction get some love.

Update #9 · Mar. 12, 2013 · 1 comment

Hello friends,

I just spent this past weekend creating a very basic demo animation for Spinespur. It's up on the kickstarter site if you'd like to take a look at, but that's not what I'm talking about right this moment.

I'm sending out images to the digital sculptor to have some of the final models in the kickstarter finished, and while I was drawing up the poses I'd like to see the models in I came up with a great idea. I want you, all my friends who are helping to back this project, to help me come up with the poses and maybe some details you would like to see as well. That's right, I want your help making these minis.

Here's our 1st step. I have maybe 2-3 days to get the ideas in for the Primes. here's a picture of them.

What I need is for people to sketch ideas for cool poses for these two, but it doesn't stop there. If you have any ability to draw, even a little, I invite you to give me ideas on what you would like to see in this model. There are 2 in a pack, you can see the image for one of them, the other images still up for grabs. Hell, I don't mind putting some extra gizmos on the original either. The pose is also very important, we can have a static model standing around looking unimpressive, so help me out.

Go to our Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/ComfyChairGames and post any picture or sketch you might do for the Primes. Don't be afraid to throw your support behind someone else's idea that you love as well. Remember, you don't have to be Rembrandt to take part in this, were looking for ideas and feedback from our player base.

Please help,

sincerely,

Bob Mervine

P.S. This contest/brainstorming session is only open to our pledges.

Update

Hello my friends,

I am very excited to report that I received pictures today of the Pigsticker greens from Tim Prow! The pigstickers are models from the slaughterhouse agenda who act as the backbone for the slaughterhouse.

Pigstickers are armed with a short blade and double barrel, or a short blade and a captive bolt pistol. These models are typically forced limit one, which means you can take one for every 50 points unless the main character of your gang is from the slaughterhouse in which case they become force limit two, or 2 models per 50 points. The Pigstickers are very adept at overwhelming their opponent and dragging them to where they want. They use their rasslin moves to subdue an opponent, then another pigsticker with a captive bolt pistol can gain the benefits of a +5 to his attack roll and a +10 to damage when attacking subdued victims. So they basically overwhelm an opponent, then brain them.

A 3rd model with a captive bolt pistol will be included in this set to make 3 models in one blister. How cool is that?

Later this weekend we should have a picture of the digital sculpt for Hidell, and if trends continue, I'm going to have to shell out for a free miniature for everyone who pledged over $38 and a copy of "Street Chum" Beta that (when finished) will be included in the next Spinespur book. So stay tuned.

Sincerely,

Bob Mervine

Stretch Goal Met, so

" Good morning everybody,

Last night while we slept, we received a pledge that unlocked our first stretch goal! I am proud to present you with

Everybody who has pledged over $38 will receive a free PDF of the beta rules for Street Chum and a free character thug model. I will explain what each are.

Street Chum is the Spinespur experience based game, where players create a gang and fight against their friends gangs while building experience and gaining abilities for their gang the whole time. This minigame will appear in the 2nd Spinespur book "Covenant." the intention of the game was to give players a reason to pull out some models (namely the thugs they bought already) and put them to use once again without having to spend money on more models. This game, while similar to some experience building games, has new and exciting mechanics that are sure to make this one of the most widely experience building games you have ever played. Best part is, you now receive the PDF of the beta rules absolutely free, because you were part in supporting Comfy Chair Games during this kickstarter.

The Bell-saw character thug is a standard 32 mm model for use in any Spinespur game. He can be used as a chainsaw thug, but there are other reasons he is made. First reason, is he could be used as a gang boss in Street chum, but there's even a better reason than that. In the second Spinespur book we are incorporating rules for players to make their own characters. Bell-Saw Is just one model we are putting out that players can use to represent their very own malicious maniac in Spinespur! Yes, you read right, you will be able to flex your creative wings and create characters for your gang in Spinespur. Plenty of people have asked about this in the past, and because we are a company that values the opinions and wants of our player base, we are answering you with a build your own character option.

That's it for the news right now. Congratulations and more importantly, thank you for believing in Spinespur and your kindness for supporting it.

Sincerely,

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

Update #14 ·

As many of you may be aware, we at Comfy Chair Games love to stir the pot a little every now and again. We do things that other game companies wouldn't dream of (like the Mr. Jingles extreeeeeem!) Yes, we make a horror game, but we also like to make people laugh. So, with that in mind, we are happy to introduce one of the Shattered! His name is "Rob."

Rob is a dashing example of the Shattered, with his socks on with his sandals, the neck-beard, the belly that hangs out under his shirt, the pony tail that states "I'm a Rebel" along with his side satchel full of AD&D books! How can you resist?

The Shattered are sold 4 models to a 50mm base. They shamble around cluelessly with broken minds, though Rob is still sharp, he is as clueless as any shattered in Spinespur!

We are happy to announce a contest for the Spinespur Kickstarter! We have put this together to help us spread the word about Spinespur, so let your buddies know! The best part is, if you pledged with us, chances are all you have to do is write your handle on a wall!

Please follow this link http://lxg-blog.blogspot.com/2013/03/spinespur-kickstarter-contest.html for contest details. This contest will give you aa chance to win a Grave Golem, Cerebeast and 8 Thug pack! Lets face it, who doesn't need more miniatures?

Sincerely,

Update #16 · Mar. 26, 2013 · 3 comments

I got a sneak peek at the Prime that is being made for this Kickstarter and I figured I would share it with you while we wait for the final pose.

Beautiful detail work! Imagine how you can paint this baby!

Old Doc Akron must be laughing himself silly with Monstrosities like this under his command!

Primes are hideous creatures cobbled together from the parts of others. Very strong and surprisingly durable, the Prime doesn't leave "proper" bodies when they die, so there is no corpse token left when they die (Sorry Dark Faith.) They also have a strange connection with the broken minds of the Trauma Hounds that allows them to direct the insane bastards in battle.

another update

Hello my friends,

Where coming down to the wire, only 4 (i've edited this to reflect when I posted it) days left on this kickstarter. That means it's still far from over, but I can relax in knowing that I will be able to create the final few models for the threshold book, and start the new models for the next Spinespur book.

I have a lot of people asking about certain ways that different agendas play and if it fits their play style. Well, a highly decorated Spinespurian who has staked quite a claim in the city of despair named Captain Pete has taken his own time to write up an extremely well done blog post that should answer most questions you have about Spinespur agendas.

His blog can be found at: http://bearersoftheword.blogspot.com/2013/03/the-little-guys.html

also, if you have not signed up for the Spinespur free giveaway, we you can get your hands on a bunch of painted thugs and a painted Grave Golum and Cerebeast, all you have to do is stop by http://lxg-blog.blogspot.com/2013/03/spinespur-kickstarter-contest.html and drop the name you pledged under in the comments area. We will be drawing from there to pick the winner.

sincerely,

Bob Mervine

so if you're fence sitting it's time to make up your mind,
and if you're a backer make sure you're in the contest

Just over 2 days to go, and a update arrives

Two days to go and we have another Prime to show you. Winding up and ready to take someone's head off, this is the second Prime model for the institution.

We are just over $1300 from unlocking the next stretch goal in our final days of this kickstarter. Let your friends know and let's see if we can get that stretch goal unlocked.

Also, during the after KS survey we will be adding an option that will allow you to purchase any unlocked miniature for a price of only $3! However, we had to limit the amount you could purchase at such a crazy price. So here's the deal, if you pledged the required amount to get the free model, the model will be included in your pledge. For every agenda that you purchase, you will be able to purchase an extra unlocked model at only $3. This means if you pledged the double agenda level, at our current pledge level, you will receive a free BellSaw thug and have the option of purchasing 2 more at $3 a piece. If we reach the 13K goal, the same will be available for that miniature as well. This is my way of saying thank you for pledging Spinespur!

sincerely,

Bob Mervine
