Wow, I haven't posted on here for a while. I must admit, with all of the University work I have been neglecting the hobby. But recently I have been getting back in to it. I have started work on a new project for my Warhammer 40k army... a Plague Tower of Nurgle... this foul construction is a medieval siege tower reborn as the enemy's worst nightmare. The Tower is unbelievably resilient, able to withstand the punishment that would fell any Imperial tank. It also shelters a host of Nurgle's twisted followers in its innards, allowing them to fire at their weakening enemies from the safety of this construct.

Here are some photographs of it so far. Keep in mind that it is still in the early construction phase.

There will be more updates soon

So today I was thinking about how this monstrosity is going to move. I was thinking about going with wheels, but I thought that it might be a bit too simplistic. Then I thought about a baneblade chassis but that may end up being too expensive plus the wood and metal wood contrast too much. Then I was watching one of GREATJOJOMAN's vlogs on the development of his Nurgle army...

...and was inspired to build a giant maggot which would have the Plague Tower on its back, similar to how the Mumakil carry the constructs on their backs in LoTR. So I gathered some scrap which I had kept to make something out of and started constructed the foundations and basic shape of this giant maggot.

Here are some photographs of a fraction of the Plague Zombies I am currently assembling and painting up. I decided to keep most of the colours fairly muted, but go for bright green eyes and blades, inspired by the bright green substance from the film 'Re-animator' which ended up bringing the dead back to life. I am really pleased with the scheme I went for, now I have about forty more to paint up.

I have finished painting up a chunk of the Mantic Games Plague Zombies for my Nurgle Army. I decided to keep most of the colours fairly muted, but go for bright green eyes and blades, inspired by the bright green substance from the film 'Re-animator' which ended up bringing the dead back to life. I am really pleased with the scheme I went for, now I have about forty more to paint up. I also went for some strange orange plants and tufts of grass to make the bases look a little more interesting. These guys were really fun to assemble and paint up, I definitely recommend them for any Nurgle/Zombie fanatics out there!

The bad news:

Unfortunately, due to having so many projects and moving out of my university accommodation I had to scrap the Plague Tower project. Although that does give me the opportunity to work on an even better one at a later date, so it isn't all bad.

The good news:

A photograph of some Nurgle Tartaros Terminators that I am painting up. These are the Forgeworld minis with custom conversion work and basing done by me. I have just been working on the basic armour colour, adding some highlights and washes and also base-coating the details such as the mutated parts and the metal parts. Stay tuned for more!

A squad of Plague Zombies in my display cabinet. I have custom converted them with creenstuff and extra bits to give them a little more personality and make them stand out on the tabletop. The kept the paintscheme fairly simple, so I get get through them quicker as I had forty of them to paint up. I'm really pleased with how they look. Now I have to get a Typhus to lead them.

Now that I am back home and finished my first year of Uni, I thought that I would take a week out to chill before I start finding a summer job and doing chores for my parents. One of the things that I have been doing this week is trying to get all of my unpainted/half-painted miniatures and unfinished projects finished. When I was packing to leave Uni, I had to throw away a few unfinished projects as I had no way to transport them and knew I wasn't going to finish them. It was pretty annoying as I did invest a significant amount of time in to them, but ultimately, I had one to many projects on my plate and had to learn my lesson. So now my goal is to get everything done before I start any new projects. What I have left to do is:

-Five regular Terminators
-Five Tartaros Terminators
-A squad of Khorne Marines converted to Nurgle
-Custom Built Huron Blackheart
-Custom Built Kharn
-Metal Chaos Space Marine Lord of Khorne
-30 Plague Zombies
-20 Night Goblins
-One Troll
-Custom Bolt-Thrower
-Two Infinity Aleph Minis
-Ten Custom Female Savlar Chem-Dogs
-A squad of Skaven Clan Rats
-One Plague Drone

So as you can see, I have quite a lot to do, but if I do a little bit each day I should eventually get it finished in time. What I'll be doing from now on will be updating this list whenever I am working on one of the items or have finished one of the items to chart my progress and to keep you updated. Finished projects will be crossed out. I have a lot to do, but it will be great once I get it all finished as it will allow me to start new projects, such as the rebuilding of my Plague Tower, purchasing and painting Dark Vengeance and building a skeletal Warhound Titan.

Stay tuned for more updates!

Hey guys, I have started up a wargaming blog, here is the link to it: http://ctandoh.blogspot.co.uk/

Marshy Bases:

So recently I have been trying out some experimental basing for some Nurgle Terminator squads as I don't have the original bases that they come with. For the first squad of Tartaros Terminators I first made the basic base shape out of that packaging that you get with pizzas. I used a compass and marked out how big they needed to be, then I carefully cut them out with a hobby knife. Once that was done, I used PVA to stick the minis to the base and added a bit of superglue just to strengthen it. I used the PVA first as the superglue eats through the pizza packaging. Then I added sand on the top of the base, on all of the bare areas and on the sides, to cover up the pizza packaging. I painted the base brown and dry brushed it and added some washes. The i used some water effects to give it more of a marshy/swampy look and added some greenery to give an impression of mossy-like plant.

Also here are some quick shots of the Tartaros Terminators prior to completion. I'll take better quality photos once I can get some decent lighting.

Let me know what you think.

Backlog update:
-Five regular Terminators - In progress, they are base coated and have started adding a green wash to some of them. I need to buy some terminator bases for them though, I'm thinking about getting some special sculpted, scenic ones.
-Five Tartaros Terminators DONE
-A squad of Khorne Marines converted to Nurgle - In progress, they are base-coated and have started adding washes and detailing them. Still got a long way to go with them before they are completed though.

-Custom Built Kharn - Basecoated at the moment.
-Metal Chaos Space Marine Lord of Khorne - Basecoated at the moment.
-30 Plague Zombies - In varying states of completion; some are complete, some are nearly complete and some are basecoated.

I have finished up another batch of Plague Zombies. I tried to mix up the paint style a bit so the group won't all look the same and have more of a rag-tag zombie horde look. I am really pleased with them and looking forward to finishing the last 17 Plague Marines.

Looking suitably revolting! I like the chosen greenery (yellowery?) on the basing too, it matches them very well.

Thank you, the yellow plants was something I bought a while back to make the bases of my Chaos Marines look a little more interesting. It was a good purchase.

Indeed it is. I'll be taking photos of the whole horde once I have finished the last batch of Zombies.

Just to let you guys know, I will be re-building my Plague Tower project. Just because I had to throw the old one away due to moving out of university accommodation doesn't mean I have given up on it. Once I get my backlog cleared I can start working on it.

Here is the current backlog status...
-Five regular Terminators - In progress, they are base coated and have started adding a green wash to some of them. I need to buy some terminator bases for them though, I'm thinking about getting some special sculpted, scenic ones.

Here is a quick sketch of a design for a Nurgle Knight. I really want to add some big scratch builds, but want to start relatively small and work my way up to making the huge titans, learning as I go, so I thought that scratch building an Imperial Knight scale model would be the best first step. So here is the rough design of it. It will have heavy stubbers mounted on the shoulders, a pus cannon on one arm and a claw on the other arm. I'll be writing my own custom rules for it as well.
