Does it really matter? Skimmer gets jink save.

I could be wrong, but I'm guessing it's a +6 natual cover save, and if you combine that with the cover save they get from moving (they should still get that, right? What's it called, Jink?) it could be as low as 4+ cover save after movement.

That's the way I see it right now, anyways. Not terrible, slightly nerfed, but then again, Dispods were always kinda too good.

I want to see the price for Dfish, I really hope they're less expensive.

A 2+ to a 4+ jink save is one hefty nerf.

But i cant wait to see all the unit prices. the list builder in me is getting ecstatic.

It seems to me that the vast majority of fan theories are worse than GW writing. GW writing may not be good but "they were necrontyr all along" is lazy and doesn't fit into the background. The current fluff is pretty much the exact opposite in fact -- that the Tau were aided by the Eldar who are not fans of the necrontyr at all. In this, Tau = necrontyr is more hamfisted than some of the hammiest GW writing, hence the perceived irony when you propose that as a great fluff idea and bash GW's admittedly sometimes dumb fluff in the same breath.

"Hamfisted" has nothing to do with story, it has to do with execution.

A good story can be hamfistidly executed and a bad story can be elegantly crafted. When I say I want less hamfisted 12 year old sledgehammer writing, that has literally nothing to do with the actual events of the story, it has to do with how they are presented.

2+ behind/in 4+ cover, 3+ at over 12", and a 5+ or nothing under 12" is good yes, but a straight +1 is fine. I mean, remember, it used to just confer obscured.
If it's a straight +1 cover save, not just outside 12", then that's fine. Hell, even outside of 12" it's not bad.

Well if its a +1 to cover save or just stealth. That would be great. but i was under the impression at least from naftk it may be a +1 invul (which would be silly)

I must be missing something. You move ur hammerhead 3" you get a 4+ right now out side 12". What do they mean with the 6+ then. +1 to your cover, so having jink + dp = 4+ outside of 12" or 3+ in ruins. Just trying to understand the new effects.

Speaking of, I really hope they replace the Acute Senses on crisis suits with something that will actually benefit the unit (Like Move Through Cover). Not much point for an outflanking bonus on a unit that can't outflank.

It is FAR too big for a missile broadside. 1/100 scale gundam kits like that are usually around 7 or 8 inches tall while the smaller 1/144 scale ones are around 5 or 6 inches tall. The 1/100 would work well for a Riptide and a 1/144 would be a very tall Broadside.

Feels good to be excited enough about this release to want to stay up til 12 to see if the stuff goes on pre-order even though I'm working tomorrow.

Feels bad too, though

Technically the new Battlesuit Commander is the Enforcer. I'm just surprised Matt Holland mentions designing it when it's another person that sculpted it. Maybe they'll release a plastic later?

Not technically, it is the XV8-05 Crisis "Enforcer" armor. I also wouldn't hold your breath on plastic for it, as I just don't see it happening.

The size chart shows the XV-8 as having a separate waist like the Enforcer armor, which indicates the direction of the design if/when they do update the plastic kit. For now, GW is just milking more profit out of the old sprues. They can update the Crisis suit anytime they feel like.

I did notice the very subtle differences in the Crisis suit in that size chart, but I was merely referring to the fact that I don't see a plastic version of the Commander's Enforcer armor happening. I do see, however, GW leaving the possibility open for a new Crisis model. What it seems to me with these most recent releases is that GW is making absolutely sure to have models for every new unit, whilst continuing to utilize older sculpts for Codex options that saw little or no changes; after all, GW doesn't want another Chapterhouse fiasco.

Funny this should be mentioned, because there is a little blurb in WD that mentions there isn't a skull in sight inside the Tau Codex. Made me laugh a little inside.

Been waiting for the official pictures to comment and I'm still not a fan.

The Riptide and Fliers look better than they did in the leaked pictures (surprise surprise), but I'm still not a fan of the general aesthetic on either, and I really feel £40 & £50 models shouldn't require converting.

I feel the Broadside looks even worse than in white dwarf; particularly its helmet and big ol' fan thing on the back; much preferred the original, and the missile variant looks almost laughable IMHO.

Cadre Fireblade looks terrible, but Darkstrider and the Battlesuit Commander look average-to-pretty-good.

Farsight however looks great; the best model Games Workshop's put out in ages. But still well overpriced.

And the prices...? I don't know where to start...

I'm not the same as I was, and you're... well, let us not mention where you are now."

Trying to justify a LE codex, but it's double the price for a plastic cover? Pass.

Based on the 360 degree view of the Sun Shark Bomber and sprue pictures, the two ugly bars joining the wings to the horizontal stabilizer are separate bits. Removing them should be easy.

Splendid job by GW's painters on the Shadowsun Firestrike color scheme.
