Eh, with an actual pledge manager built it should be incredibly easy to allow people to add more tilesets.
As it is there is no point to pledging unless you can get at least $120 for it, since the single tileset option gets no stretch goals and is thus very limited as to what you can make with it... and you can't add any more later to get you to that sweet spot.

$100-$150 is the usual "sweet spot", though, so that makes sense. I'm not familiar if other campaigns have allowed people to change to a different pledge level (for the purposes of stretch goals) with the pledge manager, or simply to purchase more add-on items after the fact.
Regardless, I'm watching this one from afar... only $8K to go to cross the $1.9M mark, with 14 minutes left!

These guys have seemed to purposly keep it simple. They basically have 6 'batches' they need to produce:
*Core set
*Stretch goal set
*4 Add-on sets
So everything is a multiple of one of those sets. Super simple. Makes sense for such a massive kickstarter. Seems like they will be ordering a ton of units and be sorting them into baggies for weeks

Yeah, I have no problem with the $100~150 average, but at least for most other kickstarters that we would care about you'd get something useful at lower levels
Either way, the additional time and not pledging to this gives me the ability to throw more at Secret Weapon's Kickstarter.

nkelsch- That's a good point, and really smart of them. Having too many different combinations must make fulfillment a nightmare when you're looking at almost 5,500 orders full of tiles!

Freaking incredible. This thing started out not really getting my attention, but with the stretch goals adding to the square footage of what you get (well, square inchage at least) and the calculator that was made it ended up being fantastic. Not sure how much game use I'll get out of this stuff, but they'll be my favorite Lego set ever.

Pertinent info that I thought some who didn't back might like to know;
We’re thrilled to report that Game Tiles production is complete, and we are now focused on packing and delivering your orders. I think there are about two million individual pieces, so (thanks to all of you) there’s a ton of stuff to ship. Please be assured we are doing everything we can to make deliveries efficient and accurate. We are still on schedule, and expect to ship next month. Most backers should receive their shipments over a 2-3 week window in the latter part of October. (While this includes non-US backers, please understand we have a little less control over shipments outside the US.)
Please note: we aren’t able to deliver to everyone simultaneously, nor are we prioritizing some backers ahead of others. Whether you get your shipment at the beginning or the end of the window, it’s only because we’re trying to stay organized and efficient. It’s not because we thought your order was more or less important than another. Please keep in mind that while we’re trying to keep the window narrow, our goal is to deliver on time.
One request: we are generating shipping labels now, so please tell us immediately if your address has changed. The best way to do this is by sending us a message through Fundafull, our pledge manager software.
Thank you again for your support and patience. We know everyone can't wait to get their Game Tiles delivered, and we appreciate your patience over the next 4-5 weeks. We are almost there!

President, Dwarven Forge
Also, from their own forums and the KS comments, it has come to light that their next Kickstarter may fire up in February, and will be caverns themed.
Apologies if this comes across as necromancy, I simply figured it'd show up more clearly to those who have read or participated in the thread in the past, rather than starting a whole new one.
Nice to see a small company have a wildly successful Kickstarter campaign, AND be on track to deliver on time. The KS community has gotten particularly bad over the last few years with outright expecting delays on successful projects, which I feel does the whole system a disservice as it basically gives creators carte blanche to make up whatever delivery date they think backers will want to hear, and if they go over by a month or 3 or 8 oh well, 'there are always delays'.

I was selected for some of the first wave shipments, and received my FedEx shipping notification an hour or so ago (it actually came yesterday, but I didn't know it was for DF Game Tiles). I got pretty much almost every add-on, unpainted, so should be able tog et pics up as soon as my box arrives (at a hefty 35 lbs).
Super excited to see this KS do so well, and can't wait for the successor.

Forar wrote:@iPaint, I'm assuming you had 3 sets and some add ons?
I did, here's what I got by box contents:
3 Core Game Tile Sets (Dungeon Gray)
3 Kickstarter Stretch Goal Upgrade Sets (Dungeon Gray)
1 Diagonal Wall Pack (Dungeon Gray)
1 Curved Corner Pack (Dungeon Gray)
1 Floor Pack (Dungeon Gray)
2 Dungeon Dressing Pack (Dungeon Gray)
1 Chamber of Sorrows (Dungeon Gray)
1 Grand Stair Pack (Dungeon Gray)
1 Castle Wall Pack (Dungeon Gray)
The tiles are a dark gray, with maybe a tiny hint of some brown, and look like they will take paint well. There's plenty of detail in the recesses, and only a few pieces had visible mold lines running along some edges (in the grand scheme of things, not a big deal, easily filed/cut away). There does appear to be some mold release agent still on some pieces, as they look shiny, so I would definitely recommend washing everything if you plan on doing your own painting.
Boxes came packed tightly, and each piece or group of pieces are wrapped in a plastic baggie to protect them. I assume the same will happen for painted sets.
Overall, I'm really happy that this Kickstarter has done so well.
Here's a quick pic I took before work this morning:
I'll have more here and on my blog when I am back home.
EDIT: Paint!

I cannot express how amazing these are. I got a bunch and I am SUPER happy with them.
The terrain pieces like pillars, beds, shelves and chairs are super nice. The DOOR system they worked out is also very awesome. They are archways which can work on any terrain with functional doors. Wooded, jail, iron gate, metal doors, Demon doors, fake walls, all work and open and close really well and is very stable.
iPaint, did you paint those with the 'paint kit'? Supposedly they need no primer? I am getting ready to paint stuff.

Still can't wait for mine to show up. They're going to an associate in MA who will then be FedEx'ing them my way in the great white frozen north, so I'm hoping they come in soon. Next week or two, perhaps?
