With all the different ways to get extra units of basic Daemons on to the table top. Portalglyph, Riftbringer and the Warpstorm chart. Whats everyones thought on the best type of basic Daemons to bring?

Personally I'm beginning to favor the idea of only bringing Pink Horrors as my freebies. With no available upgrades, a unit of Bloodletters, Plaguebearers and Daemonettes seem pretty lackluster. While the Pink Horrors always get a roll on the "Change" discipline chart.

If your Portalglyph kicks out a 1 model strong unit of Pink Horrors, it still can cast the Bolt of Change (24" S-d6+4 AP2 Assault 1, Warpflame), Tzeentch's Firestorm (24" S-d6+1 AP- Assault 1, Blast, Warpflame). Infernal Gateway is beyond them, but it can always be ignored in favor of the Primaris Power Flickering Fire (24" S5 AP4 Assault 2d6, Soul Blaze, Warpflame).

I personally would prefer the bolt of Change and would probably take Flickering Fire over the Firestorm as well. But all in all the Pink Horrors seem to be the way to go to get the most bang for your buck on Freebie Daemons. Especially with the smaller units that can be generated.

Don't know of any inidividual point free models that can generate a S10 AP2 shot, or 12 S5 AP4 shots. Nevermind the fun that can be had with Warpflame. Pretty sure I'm going to remove Pink Horrors from my Army List altogether and just have my collection serve as Tzeentch's way of joining in the fun.

A ton of armies and a terrain habit...

I never really thought about that and you might be on to something but I'd for sure say that late game spawning plague bearers on objectives is awesome, even if they're just a backup unit, you can screen with them 3" from the objective and give cover to any other troops that you're scoring with

It's only ever going to be pink horrors, except for late game when you can tuck a few plaguebearers onto a cheeky objective ;D

I'm coming to this same conclusion. The portaglyph does some really amazing things, giving you the flexibility to add scoring units in objective missions. Drop it immediately, and that's likely to get you 2-3 extra scoring units. Spawning more horrors seems like the best way to do it. A note, though...if you roll infernal gateway, you get to re-roll it, so you've got a 50% chance of bolt, or a 50% chance of firestorm.

I am currently including the portaglyph in my lists and only bringing horrors oit from it. Just have to point out that as it spawns new units only on 4+ it is quite unreliable. Played a game yesterday and did not spawn a single unit in the whole game (5 turns) so you may get unlucky with it, but i have come to the same conclusion. Bring only horrors and possibly bearers on the last turn if you can deploy them on an objective straight away.

I was under the assumption that determinging psychic powers are done before either player deploys their army. Since any new units spawned via warpstorm/portalglyph arent on the board during this time I would assume they wouldnt be abe to generate any psychic powers? Even in the Codex under generating daemon psychic powers it doesnt state when this can happen so I would assume its under normal rules? I hope im just reading too much into this so please feel free to prove me wrong.

As above, two games with it I spawned 4 models I think, then third game I spawned 8 in three squads, but as said 1 horror kicks out as many shots as 10 so horrors all day long really.
