Any body else think the same?
I still have my old EPIC stuff, and would love to game with it again with a new generation of gamers..
its just tough to get kids into a game that you cant get figs for any more...no matter how excited they are.
Now, take a look at the new Open Fire Box set from Battlefront...those 15mm figs are SWEET!! -- Just enough detail to make out what they are, but not so much that they are "cramped".
How neat would it be to use your old figs with new PLAYABLE rules and start a new generation of kids on a grander scale of battles?
I would collect a new army or two or three....

I think you're forgetting who manufactures EPIC. They have already re-released EPIC for you, only they did it in 28mm scale, and called it Apocalypse. Morons...
An in between scale could work very well for EPIC. I never had a problem with the vehicles, but was consistently underwhelmed by the infantry figures. You could, generally, distinguish what is what, but much of the flare and enjoyment from distinguishing individual models is all but impossible.
So then there's 28mm games. The problem with Apocalypse is the general principal and logistics. I find it hard to believe that anyone is "playing" a game of Apocalypse so much as they are just throwing money at each other to see who wins; poker exists for a reason, and requires a lot less storage space. You payed how much for that hulking pile of resin? And it doesn't have a miniature power source and an ability to respond to voice commands? Bitch please, 'aint nobody got time for that.
EPIC in 15mm could fill the gap quite nicely for all parties considered. The scale means that the units produced are not so small that detail can't be found, but not so big that carrying around an entire force is a logistics and spatial nightmare. It also helps the producer, GW, who would likely find buyers more willing to pay a premium price for larger models. I, and I'm sure others as well, find it laughable what they're trying to get for their outdated EPIC miniatures on their main site. But I digress, that is neither here nor there.
The Open Fire Box represents a good picture of what the EPIC 15mm scale could be like. Embellish a bit with some creativity, and it isn't hard to figure out how cool everything would look. Titans would be, roughly, the size of a Land Raider standing on end. The land raider would be about the size of a land speeder. The land speeder would be about the size of a 28mm infantry figure. Infantry would be about the size of a servo skull. It starts making sense quickly that you could easily field tank companies in the dozens, infantry in the hundreds, and whole companies of Titans, all on a single 4x6 table. All capable of detailed painting, modeling, customizing, and still fighting into a normal sized figure case for the trip home.
But it'll never happen

Aaahhh just a pipe dream i know...
But you can see how cool it would scale..
Marines could actually be sculpted as 8 foot tall ( at scale )
And Terminators and Dreadnoughts would look SWEEEET!!
The I G line would be the coolest though....wave after wave of Leman Russ....

I prefer 6mm scale. 15mm scale would either mean smaller armies or less movement in game. Either would be a downgrade for the game for me.

I think that 10mm would work better look at the detail of dropzone models and you could keep the model count up and the cost down.

6mm for me. The infantry isn't supposed to be pretty, they're just targets after all...

The wicked will believe they are fighting for good, but when others are in need they’ll be reluctant to help, withholding compassion until they see proof of that need. And yet Evil is quick to condemn, vilify and attack. For Evil, proof isn’t needed to bring harm, only hatred and a belief in the cause.” |

An increase in scale would change the sweeping nature of the game and not for the better.
Also titans would cost an arm and a leg, I mean they charge £30 for a current epic scale one!
I never had a problem with the detailing of the minis, that always seemed good to me. 15mm Doesn't add a great deal, the minis would still be mono pose and if the FoW boards are anything to go by people would still moan they can't paint singing that small.
Epic scale rocks as does the game - no changes needed.

Its not 40k, but its a good proof of concept:

Personally, I've been using lore-stripped 40k rules for my 15mm figures anyway.

I would love to see it as I've been spending a lot of my $$$ on 15mm lately. The quality on the figs is getting just better and better to the point where some of them you can't tell from the picture if they're 15mm or 28mm.

I prefer it to remain 6mm scale for many of the reasons others have stated. The infantry are not that bad and people even convert them.

Quick, someone start a fan-rework of the Dropship Commander rules for...hmm...what do we call it. Aeon? Epoch 40k?
Man, I'd love a smaller (physical) scale 40k with actual backing, decent sculpts and tight rules. If you ask me, the coolest thing about the setting is the scale of the massive battles. I've got BFG (the best written and balanced GW rules set hands down, if you ask me) for the massive space engagements between kilometers long capital ships. Infinity covers my skirmish needs, Warmahordes my 'large skirmish' urge. All I've got for massive force on force action is Dystopian Wars, and I'm not as in love with those rules as I am with the others (though I love the setting)
