Oh, I wouldn't have issues playing in unfinished space. My issue is that the previous owners finished almost all of the available basement space. So the unfinished part doesn't provide enough space to game. It's just shelves and storage.

I make do with some folding tables and a Zuzzy mat (which I really like and recommend BTW). But it'd sure be nice to be able to leave stuff out.

Word. Me and my daughter too. We sculpt, paint, play games, and make terrain together.

Lovely bendy panoramic images of my, well, nerd cellar really. Need to get the dang space better organized (and probably get a smaller table; a 4x6 eats up too much room.)

My current setup.
[Thumb - IMG_5180.JPG]
the private workstation, in my bedroom for maximum kid-security

[Thumb - IMG_5183.JPG]
the public workstation that is mostly for the kids but that I can use if i dont want to work in solitude or to collaborate

[Thumb - IMG_5186.JPG]
the game table (soon to be replaced with an actual game table i hope)

[Thumb - IMG_5181.JPG]
the safe room where i can display and store stuff with minimal kid-risk.

I'm pretty lucky in that I've got a corner of the spare bedroom for my modelling stuff. Both our bedrooms are in the rafters as we have a converted apartment. I don't have any problems justifying the space as my boyfriend plays as well, sort of, though he hasn't done anything to them since the Dark Eldar got heavily nerfed. He used to play a Webway Portal army and.. umm.. yeah.

(Yes, those are moving boxes shoved behind it, as they're in good nick and I don't want to have to get my hands on another bunch of boxes when we move out of here in a few years. I'll cover them in a blanket at some point.)

Everything has to fit in a small space, but luckily I am extremely organised and work very, very slowly so I don't need massive amounts of storage room.

When the room is in spare bedroom mode the transparent boxes are shoved under the table and the rest of the room has enough room for a blow-up bed.

Here's an old shot of my painting station. Now it is overflowing with all sorts of different paint ranges. I almost have no room for models on there, so I need to sort something out.

Here's my gaming table. 2 6x2.5 folding trestle tables, GW battlemat, assorted terrain. I've actually got more terrain now, but I haven't had a chance to put it all together for a game. I don't have a room for myself (and likely never will), but clearing out the garage is easy for gaming.

*sigh*

Who do I turn my nerd card in to? I got very excited about the cat on the table, and only noticed the bio-titan afterwards. (Although I have threatened to use my cats as bio-titans in games before... anything they knock off the table is removed from the game, no saves allowed.)

Not the best idea if you play beerhammer. Best case scenario, someone uses it as a hammock. Worst case, while a game is going.

Humble beginnings haha.
I'm looking for a lamp and general shelf unit to upgrade. It all needs to be semi permanent as I'm planning to move out.
I'll repost when I've got a better set up, depending on what the other (decidedly NOT mini cool) half has to say on the matter.
Also, I'm not uncommonly tall, I'm standing on my bed.

So, in taking pictures of a project I've been working on (8 to 12 hours every Saturday for about 4.5 months), they captured pics of the place where I game. I took a couple others to add on, though. I hope you don't mind, but I'm going to go ahead and show ALL the pics of the project, since most of them are in the "gaming area" pics, anyway, and tell you about it...

If you turn to Page 345 in your 40K rulebooks, you'll see where the inspiration for this Bad Boy came from.

(Larger pics are in my gallery)

That's Rob (Tactica on Dakka) in the background. In real life he actually has a head.

Another angle:

You can see the bar in the background here:

More Rob:

A close up of the main building of the space port. You can see Leopold and Franz in the background here... We'll meet them later:

Another closer shot, from a different angle:

Yet another close up. Those black explosions were made with FW weathering powders, BTW:

A different angle (again):

Again:

Yet again (Hi, Franz!):

Some close ups of the building.
It's all modular. Here is one piece:

A close up of the back (front?) and two "turrets." These were fun to convert from fitting the fortress of redemption to fitting CoD tiles. Not something that is good for your sanity!

I pulled this away from the walkway to show the doors:

"Ground Level" shot of the "out building" that is sitting in the center:

That's Tom in the background. It's his place.

Another "Ground Level" shot:

The view from the landing pad. The pad that is on the upper floor of the main building has the side pieces glued in place:

The side pieces move on the other two, though:

So, you've seen this in the pics:

That's 4' tall, 2' deep and 13+' long. That's where Tom keeps his armies. It's LED lit with tempered glass shelves. This way, you can see all of the models, and the LED lights don't, you know, melt them. LOL

This is Leopold:

Leopold (never "Leo") is rather dumb... Well, stupid, really. He's fun, though. Just don't let him get drunk. He's a mean drunk.

This is Franz:

Franz is a black bear. He's 6' tall and from Canadian. Oddly, however, he speaks with a German accent and I've never heard him say "Eh!" or "Hoser."

Lastly, the storage area. This is where the terrain and some other things are kept:

This is a fun set to use. There are enough 2x2 squares that we can choose whether or not to use the FW Walls or the Giant cliff-like hills. They aren't shown in this pic, but the cliffs are about as tall as the walls.

These next 2 pics show the 4x6 FW Cityfight tiles hith buildings on them (but not attached):
(Sorry for the blur)

This is the extras cabinet. It holds the 3 armies that won't fit in the cabinet shown earlier, the extras from the Orks and the stuff that's too large/tall for the cabinet shelves:

The bottom shelf (only visible in the bottom right corner of the pic) is SOB.
Next up is IG
The two above that are Tau (previous codex - no new models yet)
Above that are Ork & Tau flyers, extra Ork models and FW Ork tanks that would be too big for the front cabinets. They're not used as often, so they're sent back here.
Above that are more big things. A Heirophant Bio-Titan and Warhound can be seen here, amongst others
Top shelf is CSM Warhound, Angron, two Stompas and... I forget.

Having seen all this, you're probably thinking what a great place this must be to game. If you are, you're right... and I consider myself lucky to do so. It's really not because of the environment, as much, though. Really, it's about my gaming buddies. Tom, Rob and Andy (not shown, even partially) are 3 of the best guys I've games with in the nearly 32 years I've been gaming. They're great gamers, modellers and friends. THAT (IMO) is what makes a gaming space a great place to play.

Eric

Thanks for the kind words, guys. We put a lot of work into that terrain over the last 5 months or so. Rob (Tactica) is putting together a Mechanicus table at the moment that is turning out BEAUTIFUL. Hopefully, I can get him to post pics when it's done. Otherwise, I'll have to. Of course, the man's a perfectionist, so he's putting 20 to 30 hours just into the PAINTING of each of the (6) buildings. He's also building a street system for it from plasticard that looks AWESOME, but it eating a lot of time, as well. When all is said and done, it will be the equivalent of a 6" square of street around each of the 6 buildings that have been built (mounted to 12x12 mdf boards). I think it'll be, like, a total of 24 sg. ft of road sections or something

Yeah, but we usually steer towards the more mundane. Rob & Tom like Jack & Coke, and I prefer Kraken on the rocks. We delve into the occasional mixed drink/martini/etc when Tom gets a wild hair to try making some drink he saw, had or heard about. LOL
Tom's got plenty of various beers in the refrigerators, too, and he keeps 2 or 3 on tap, but I couldn't give much detail on that; I don't like beer.

More or less current setup of my Games room. Only one picture for now. To the right is a rather large desk/workstation with shelves and storage, to the right of that is a 4 foot bookshelf with hobby supplies + widescreen computer monitor (connected to the computer hidden in the desk).

I've got several tables I can set up (up to 2 tables at a time) : The one in the picture (with 3 storage drawers underneath), an octagonal poker table, portable 3D Topographical Axis and Allies game table and a take-down 4' x 6' wargaming table.

Also not showing is all of the Star Wars Lego, several of the lightsabers on the walls, and the shelving units to the left of the wall shelving holding ever more terrain + bins of minis.

Counted up all the games I've got down there just last week .. at current count I'm at 56 games and growing. I think I have an addiction of some sort ..
