At the end of Rambo part II I felt the makers of the movie wussed out of what the end of the should have been. Rambo is betrayed in the same way Baeder is betrayed but instead of escapeing like Rambo did he and fighting for an enemy that saw him as a human sandbag Baeder changed sides and fought against the people who betrayed him. If watch the movie and read the book the similarities are obvious. The Carnibles are the NVA, the Gorgons are the Russian advisers who tried unsuccessfully turn Rambo. The Church of the Emp types are the CIA officers in the movies who send Rambo to die but obviously have only their own interest at heart. Baeder did what Rambo should have done and hurt the people who hurt him and sacrificed his men, helping the Spetznaz not because he likes the pulituro but as an ally against a mutual enemy like Baeder fights as allies with the Gorgans but not their slaves.

Like the great storm of the Horus Heresy, the forces of the True Gods will descend upon the Emperor's minions. The stars will tremble at their passage and the mighty armadas of the Warmaster Abaddon will bring annihilation to a hundred worlds. Know this, for these things will come to pass. |

That would make Rambo a traitor to America, which is not something Rambo is.

It wouldn't make him a traitor to America a it would make him an enemy of CIA interest which often enough are not in Americas interest. If going against agents of the government is treason then Rambo went traitor when he killed all those cops and national guardsmen on account of two crooked cops. I don't know maybe Rambo was a traitor, if you look at Part I the movie was anti US gov to the core, it wasn't till the third one till Rambo becomes a full blown patriotard flick as opposed to a story about a guy just trying to survive.
My point was not to debate the definitions of treason my point was that the novel flesh and iron is obviously inspired by RAMBO part II.

You're mistaking that CIA interests are counter to American interests. The problem is, no one can define what an "American interest" is.... whatever "they" are, do not doubt that the CIA forwards them.

This belongs in general discussions. It has little or nothing to do with 40k.

Rambo is Chuck Norris's chew toy.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money. |

Chuck Norris is great martial artist and a great salesman for total gyms, but I wouldn't call him an actor.
