Hahaha I totally know what he means. 1 month into playing
40k, I was already tired of my first army, Orks. I had about 20 boyz and some tanks painted before I moved onto Chaos Space Marines.
Those
CSM only saw the light of four battles and one
apoc game.
I hated painting the black legion scheme, but somehow I felt I had to have it. So soon enough, after only buying a megaforce and some termies I dropped
CSM within two months. So, needless to say I dropped them.
Then I went with eldar, which I thought I really liked. Bought the megaforce and played them for about six months. Had a nice crisp paint scheme going, even if it was only about 15 models that got painted. I played eldar for about twenty games and three tournaments. Eldar were the most successful army I ever had game wise (19 wins, 1 loss), but somehow I ended up not favoring them anymore, and moved on.
After the fall of the eldar I went on an awkward stage where I'd buy one squad from each army and play kill teams with them. I had a necron, Sob, tyranid, tau, and dark eldar killteam. I also bought a bunch of Cryx stuff for Warmachine, and spent hundreds on
Lotr (which I only played 3 games of) But I eventually settled down with black templars space marines and played them for three months.
Then one day I noticed something, there was one neglected army, those wimpy imperial guard.
So guess what? I decided to try them.
Instantly I was shocked by the amazing feeling of being able to control these little troops, humans like you and me. The fact that they had no fancy power armor amazed me, and that all they had between them and the enemy were some flashlights and cardboard. Instantly I loved them and they became my favorite army ever!!!!
Now I've been playing
IG for two years and there is very little chance I will convert to another army soon!!
What the moral of this story is, you really just have to find one army you really like, and invest in only it, even though its hard
Good luck from a fellow ADD gamer
