As a bit of a break from constantly using my new Tau army I go back to vanilla marines and once again face Blighty's new Eldar. Sorry to those that still wanted me to stick with Tau but I like switching things up a bit and this way we get to bump up the points played.

Spoiler:
This is the battle where I realized, like others have (see Tactica forum), that vanilla marines stand no chance against new Eldar unless they list tailor exclusively to fight them. If my Tau can be said to be easy mode, vanilla marines are certainly hard mode.

I don't think you can assault move with the jetbikes after turboboosting. This might just be for Dark Eldar jetbikes, but I know there's a rule somewhere saying that after you turbo-boost you may make no further actions with them that turn.

Surprised at how many Jetbikes you lost to difficult terrain. Don't they get armor saves for that? Must have been some unlucky rolls there.

I think the Space Marine player could have done better if he didn't rush his forces up and depended on his Land Raider to pick things off and force the (mostly) shorter range Eldar to come to him, though perhaps all the Scatter Lasers would have been too much at that point. A bit surprised the Eldar player didn't sit back and take out the advance force with his whole army, but doesn't seem like it mattered too much. Getting the Wraithknight assaulted by terminators was a big blow, you seem to have really bad luck with that model.

All in all, great game. Thanks a lot for sharing, and I look forward to seeing more.

You are correct, I don't think they actually moved more than 36" to get to where they ended up at the end of turn 1 though.

You have to take the test when starting or ending a move in difficult terrain with jetbikes. I forgot to do this for a few turns of hopping in and out of the ruins. I rolled 2 or 3 turns worth of difficult terrain rolls and got quite unlucky!

RE: The Wraithknight; I really did not expect him to make 26" of movement and get into assault and had planned to hop over the ruins to the right of the Wraithknight in my following turn, luring the Terminators into War Walker laser-death. That is what happened in the end, but only after the Terminators took out both the Wraithknight and my Dark Reapers.

I'd be surprised too: 6" Landraider maximum move before disembarking, +6" disembark + 12" maximum assault move is 24" maximum
Or am I doing it wrong?

And thanks for the report, very enjoyable as usual

Hmm, I may have mis-typed that! It was a very long move, disembark, charge thats for sure!

It was 6" move, 6" disembark, and a 9 or 10" charge from memory.

I think had you dropped the Ironclad dread behind the ruins it could have wrecked eldar. Never deploy something in drop pod where their whole army can shoot it. I am always amazed by how many times people deploy drop pods right next to my Grey Knights. It might do some damage but on the next turn there will be so many psycannons shooting it it will look the the shard of evil from the end of Time Bandits.

I was aiming for the ruins but it scattered into the open so it didn't leave it much chance, sadly. That said it really was just one lucky pen that got it but that seems to always be my luck with dreads and why I often don't use them.
