This went up on Youtube yesterday (The Game Classy podcast http://planetarbitrary.com/category/game-classy-podcast/ passed on the link)

It presumably means this will be the next CMON project... a KS perhaps

More details about the current minis and game can be found here

Have a few of their resins.

They range from amazing to who ever sculpted that should be ashamed of them selves.

Their Pig people are fantastic and would love to see a legion of them as a Fantasy Army.

As much as I would love to get in on this, have to draw the line somewhere. Have enough games from kickstarter that have yet to come, need painting, need more time on the table top.

Don't want them to end up like my of Mantic orcs. Or my Anima Tactics starter sets. Or my 6 starters of Uncharted Seas. Or my NorsGard minis. Or 14 shoe boxes filled with 1/300 WWII aircraft. Massive amounts of Napoleonics, ancients, ACW,

Hope the myth is true. Gamers never die as long as they have mountains of unpainted minis.

Only a few of the existing sculpts appeal to me. Probably not for me, depending on whether the sculpts improve or not.

Supposedly this was going to be a mass battle game too, right? Not a small- scale skirmish that would mean I wouldn't have to buy too much.

They've got more than a month to gear up for this, so hopefully we'll be hearing more details about what we're going to be getting/ pledging for.

I like some of those red masked swordsmen, octopi- men, and the kung fu ogre guys. Hopefully they'll have a cherry picker pledge level.

I know the early figures were all resin. Hopefully we'll find out what they'll be made out of.

Being CMON, I'm going to assume plastic since this will be a big mass produced game system (as opposed to a boxed game)?

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

30 to 50 models

the early plans were originally to have them made of metal when first introduced at Gama 2012.

then they found out what kickstarter could do.

the plan is now to have them made of plastic,

I'm guessing something similar to Sedition Wars?

I am actually looking forward to this :-) I like the miniatures allot (some have Confrontation-vibe too it)

Did they get some of the Rackham / Confrontation sculptors? That's all I would really care about... but statements like this concern me:

I know I remember reading somewhere that they definitely had people from Rackham working on this game.

That artwork definitely seems French, whatever that means...?

Rackham's premier concept artist, Edouard Guiton, is doing concepts for Wrath of Kings as well. Reason why some models look so similar to Confrontation Wolfen

I'm curious whic models the "sculptors should be ashamed of". All of the WoK models I have I adore.

I'll be all in on this one. For sure.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the official video specifically named a KS trailer means it will be a KS. That and it's CMON who might as well add the letters "K" and "S" to their name after the past year and a half of nothing but (largely problematic) high profile KS releases.

Yes but only the person who sculpted the wulfen like models according to the employee I talked to about this. Here's my problem with CMON at this point and that they don't really do a good job supporting their games. If you buy into this the models aren't bad as stated but we won't see any new releases for a long time because they don't do releases now unless they can KS it. You will only ever see new models in waves and honestly that sucks in my eyes.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

get used to it. This will be the way things gets done from here until Kickstarter shuts down. Miniatures companies can no longer afford to conduct business as they did before Kickstarter. Almost every one I have had any communications with in the past year has pretty much said the same thing. Big sales through KS vs, almost NO sales through regular store operation. This is the trade off you get. Kickstarter guts the perceived value of the product and FORCES any new development into a BIG WAVE concept / production / purchase / purvey cycle.

I will be very seriously surprised if this is not CMON's biggest campaign yet. I would be willing to bet that they will attempt to fund the production of every single model they have planned for this game for every faction.

There are 2 people from the old Rackham team involved with WoK, that I am aware of. Edwardo and I think the other guy was Raphael?

the lead designer says their names in a GenCon interview done by blue table painting.

Regarding my dislike for a number of the minis, keep in mind, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What I may find terrible you may find awesome.

I will say there are more good looking minis than bad.

unionboss (I do not like the gnome or the guy he is riding on. The facial expression is painful to look at)

Ironboss (Don't like the gnome. Just don't like the interpretation/style of them).

Blood masks (Love the pose on them, but they look like a lumpy sack of potatoes.

Galvanic Defender (Again, just don't like the gnomes. Personally not a fan of the dingo looking thing he is riding on)

Sorik the Unfinished
-----

I own all the Hadross minis. They are fantastically great sculpted minis. With the exception of one of the deepcallers, found to have great poses.

The Ucuzo, is the best of all the minis I bought from the WoK line. It's probably one of the best sculpted minis I own among other games.

That said,

I have to wonder how well will these miniatures turnout from the kickstarter. Not sure if CMON has a different factory to produce their minis. Obviously there will be a level of lost detail going from resin to plastic. The sedition wars minis lost more than I thought they would from their resin counterparts. It's a shame to see art ruined.

A lot of what makes the WoK minis great are the tiny details you don't notices unless you see them first hand.

I will be surprised if it is!

This one will have to beat the ridiculous heights of Zombicide 2, and while the miniatures are for the most part nice, they aren't that nice.

One good thing that would lead me to believe that WoK could break Zombicide season 2, is that they already have have a established fan base. Nearly 1,000 people on Facebook.

add in all the advertising they will do and the coverage they will get.

On the other hand, confrontation is coming. And people may want to save up for that.

See I disagree because my company is planning on only one KS then normal releases from there forward. Not everyone wants to base a business model off of kick starter.

Is Dreadball still doing well? How about KoW? Zombicide seems to sell out very quickly at retail, as well...

I can't see this touching the big board game KS campaigns unless they establish a new high for sweet spot pledges (which has been steadily increasing lately).
A TTG just doesn't give you a broad enough audience.

The only TTG I can see hitting KD, Zombiecide levels would be Confrontation if they pull out all the stops and release older models along with equally good new sculpts. That doesn't seem likely though at this point.

Zombicide has seemed to have been rather popular post kickstarter.

It has been in the top 3 on CMON shop's best seller list since its general release and has never dropped out of that range.

not sure about the other 2.

In all honesty, looking at the Miniature gallery I find the sculpts to be profoundly underwhelming.

Why underwhelming? I guess it's all subjective since for me personally I find Mantic sculpts and Warzone sculpts pretty underwhelming...

Nothing beats confrontation though :-)

It is all subjective of course, but after taking a look, I also find them nothing to get excited about. Which to me is a good thing. Makes it that much easier to ignore another KS..

As it happens, the army concepts are just way too weird for me, I'm not seeing anything to grab on to, and the concept art is just offputting. Pass.

I think it's a basic principle of minis are generally REALLY expensive, and during a KS you can get them REALLY cheap. So it's small wonder that so many people buy during the latter anymore. Besides - I see more and more grumbling about delays, and products not living up to expectations, etc, etc that I think people's enthusiasm for KS is starting to wane a bit. I know mine is. I supported 6-7 last year, and only one this year, and that was in January.

I don't see this one being CMON's biggest KS to date. I think the factions are too weird that most people won't bite.

Thankfully, I only see one figure I really like out of the bunch, and that's the Herlad of Blood. I suspect though that that's because the artwork makes her look like a fantasy version of Harley Quinn though. Actually, not enough fantasy games have evil clowns. Anyway, most of the designs I find kind of meh overall, but the diver octopus men are certainly interesting. Good lord do I hate those gnomes though.
