This has come to mind while replying to another thread: do you make stupid mistakes you recognize just when it's right too late? The kind of mistake that makes you willing to slap yourself in the face?
For example: I move a Malice in position to shoot a Juggernout (wich almost b2b with Sorcha), I have a Soul on Malice, I can move it at 4" from the Juggie but I don't know why I keep it further away, so I hit the Juggie, drag it, hit it with melee attack, then I could spend the Soul to take control of it but at the point there's nothing it can reach with a full advance to attack.
...and this is just the most recent one in a loong list

I am fairly new to the game so I make mistakes all the time. But yesterday lost me the game... I played Vlad3 for the first time and was 2,5´ away from the enemy caster blocked by a unit. I did pop my feat but could not reach the caster due to the block and totally forgot about Flashing Blade which would have helped to close the distance and kill Kreos

IIRC, Vlad3 only gets to make the extra moves on his Feat turn from Initial Attacks and so Flashing Blade would not let you get any closer.

I forgot to pop my feat yesterday. Kraye vs. the scyra magehunter tier list.
I'm set up for a perfect caster kill. Caster is 10" away from my Ironclad, with her feat popped and a wreck marker in the way. I put 2 focus on the Ironclad, give my battlegroup pathfinder, put full tilt on the Ironclad... and then activate the Ironclad, forgetting to pop my feat (for much-needed boosted attack rolls), and proceed to fail horrible.

Yeah but flashing blade doesn´t count as a initial attack so i could have cleared the way...

If that happens, make sure that you at least use the free movement to turn the Juggernaut around and prevent charging next turn.

I accidentally Killboxed myself in a team tournament once and we won because of it. Teammate's caster was right on the edge of the Killbox, but got engaged by some stuff. Mine charged over to kill it and free her up, but ended up outside of the Killbox in the process. We then managed to go on to kill both of their casters and end the game with seconds left on our Deathclock. Had my caster not been removed from the Killbox, we'd have most liked run out of time.

There was a time when one of my buddies started playing the Harbinger and he and I were both sure that Awe's range was Harby's control area, not her command range. Oh, the sheer number of mistakenly missed hits.... CURSE THAT FLOATING SHE-DEVIL!

Was playing a fellow circle player. On his end of the table he had a full+UA squad of skinwalkers, I had a max squad of blood trackers. Ran them forward into a forest, was going to javelin away on the next turn. Soon after doing this, I realized how I screwed up, and hoped he wouldn't notice. Fat chance. He runs his skinwalkers up, putting them in reach range.
Thus the bloodtrackers did absolutely nothing but die that game. With mediocre CC abilities, especially against heavy infantry, all they could do was attack and do nothing, or run away and get cut down.
I just cannot get that unit to work.

I like this thread!
Most common mistakes I see across systems;
In General:
-- LOS when on a hill is one of the few instances where the base size of the firing model really matters. A Conquest on a hill for example can shoot past anything--including another Gargossal.
--One round events expire before continuous events trigger. This means Piper Tough, Warcaster Focus, etc.---are all gone during your fire/corrosion rolls
--You can cast magic at targets outside of melee--even if you are not engaged with that target
--Upkeep spells expire even if you miss the new target of your cycled Upkeep spell
Warmachine:
--Forgetting to allocate focus
--Forgetting to upkeep spells
--Allocation is limited to 3--however other abilities that are non-allocated--can exceed the 3
Hordes:
--Forgetting about control areas when forcing (Common with lesser locks or speed buffs on beasts)
--Forgetting that transferring damage is not a force on a beast--but simply removing a Fury from the caster and having a beast with one Fury available

Focus allocation... my mortal enemy. Especially when I've been playing my Everblight army for a while and decide to switch back to Cygnar.

Played my wife Gators the other day maybe her 3rd game of warmahordes. By round 3 my Skorne had taken out everything but Barnabus. Being cheeky I put Morg near her so next round I could scratch his eyes out with a fully loaded Agonizer nearby I thought it would be great fun rolling 24 attacks (Initial, 10 Fury worth=20 and Maltreatment another 2) , then she picks up the card and says "Can I do this feat thing?" I hung my head realizing my idiotic mistake and she popped it and KD Morg walked up and took his head clean off.

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd

- Forgetting to rile/generate enough fury for next turn (usually happens just after using pmorg)
- Forgetting to feat
- Forgetting that enrage means I don't have to force to charge
- Forgetting the extra 2 inches on a gladiator's slam attack (which would have put me in punching range of the enemy caster)

all of the mistakes ive made so far (mind you ive only played ~8 games lol) were ones i realized right off the bat when it was too late to change my mind, such as activating a specific model before another. Ive thrown away a Warbeast when i had eDoomie on the board because i totally spaced out activating him first to apply his hit-and-run spell (if i hit with melee i full advange no free strikes). And right after i charge i go "CRAP! I forgot this!" and yea...that sucked.

Not necessarily mine, but a little as well. I was playing a Cryx player with pKreoss vs. pSkarre, and I kind of did not ask to read his stat cards to get an idea how to plan accordingly. It was a League scenario (forgot the name, but it was the one with the mine fields and if you charge, run, or get knocked down within the minefield, you have an POW 12 AOE centered on the model who started it go off. I popped my feat when a good majority of his army (that is Satyx raiders with their UA officer that lets them ignore knockdowns. My opponent forgot to read and part and accidently removed a good majority of his army and heavily damage a bonejack(At this point, I did not know about this yet). Someone comes up alter and tells him and me this, and suffice to say we all had a good laugh, much to his and my dismay.

I was playing pVayl vs. Hailey Double stormwall. I had my Scytheans both buffed up, everything in range to charge and everything within Incite/chiller. I got very excited to watch the big ole robots fall and activated a scythean and forgot to heal it. I spent fury on something much less important and had in mind at the beginning of my turn to heal, and just forgot. I lost soooo hard after that it was sad.
Being in a great position to win with all the tools, and then failing so completely made me a sad panda. That entire tournament had these sort of epic failures in my order of activations and player fails. It was awful, BUT, it did teach me some very good lessons.
