It's been a while since I posted a new project on Dakka, but that's about to change, as I have been working on something new and it's reached a stage where I can start to share my progress.

Soon after the new Eldar Wraithknight was released I was asked to build a Dark Eldar version, something designed to go toe to toe with the Wraithknight,
that looked different in design and fitted with the Dark Eldar's Inherently evil, twisted background.

The projects still in the early development stages at the moment, but I'll be posting updates as I go,
so any questions, Comments or feedback are welcome.

For now I'll leave you with some pictures of the large scale concept model I built.

More to follow soon.

Considering how dynamic and on-the-move the dark eldar line is, I think it's odd that you've gone for such a static pose.
That being said it looks like it has harmonic dimensions. Looking forward to see your progress. :-)

That was only a rough concept model, so I used a static pose in order to get the dimensions and balance right,
the final version will have ball and socket joints, allowing it to be positioned in a variety of different dynamic poses.

A very nice pose. Calm but powerful. There is no need for extra dynamic posing (which often results in strange, unnatural feeling from the whole mini imo) if the outer lines of an overall shape are slim and impetuous. Great work so far!

Interested to see this, is this just going to be a modelling project or are you going to develop some fluff behind it?

It's mainly going to be a modelling project, but when I build something like this I always like to research the background, to help me establish the style and design,
and I ask myself the question how would they build it, what would they build it from, and who would be the architect behind it.

So I do start to develop a detailed back story surrounding the project, and if anyone is interested in hearing it let me know.

I'd love to hear it, I'm imaging a haemonculi's pet project like a Talos.

I will, at some point get round to writing up a little background story,
But for now here' a load of WIP pics on the actual model, Including the main body (which I've started calling the Cradle) as it's where the pilot will be located. (Early WIP pic of pilot below)

There's also a few shots of the Heavy Dark Lance that I've Started building.

More soon.

A quick update, and the first rough assembled version.
The Legs and arms are very bare at this point, but they will have Armour plating attached eventually.

Everything's still in the designing stage at the moment, but it's getting there.

More updates soon.

Exalted.

I like that you went for the digitigrade legs/hooved feet... it looks dynamic and graceful even in that static pose. I presume the Eldar in the photo is a pilot of sorts? I'll be waiting to hear whatever background you come up with!

Here's a quick update on my progress so far.

I've made a few changes to the model since my last post, the biggest being the leg Armour plating, which is still a work in progress (as is the rest of it really).
I also started detailing the back with a few cables, and a sculpted Spinal column, as I'm going for a twisted Talos/Pain Engine kind of look.
And the sword is just an idea at the moment, It might end up being a staff weapon, or both.

Fantastic job on your build/design. that vertebrae is awesome. As a scratch builder of sorts, I am learning from your works and ingenious jointed limbs technique. Keep up the good work, I bet it will look rather unique when painted.

Looks impressive, but i think it have a couple of things to fix:

- if you are thinking of adding a sword, make it bigger, that one look to small

- plate.....like how they look, but the one thighs maybe are a little longer! anyway, add some on the right forearm too

and at last....what are you planning for shoulders!?

Here's another quick update as to where I am so far:

I've been sculpting detail to the back, legs and arms, showing the various scars, stretched tissue and stitching,
left behind by the twisted experiments of the Haemonculi.

Plus the arms now have Armour plating, and the left arm has the beginnings of a new weapon,
the original long range cannon will now be mounted on a swivel joint over the shoulder.

There's still quite a bit of work left to do, but it's another step closer to being finished.
