Is the VIG badge text correct saying that the vendor hall will be open to only VIG pass holders for 2 hours on Thursday night... or should that be Wednesday night?

I'm leaning towards just getting the regular badge again this time, but I remember wishing I'd sprung for that one before

Also, is it possible to pay directly with credit card on the AdeptiCon site, rather than by Paypal?

Finally, should the 3 non-paying team tournament members do anything in particular when registering to note that they're in the team tournament, too?

The VIG just bundles that stuff and more. It also tends to have some VIG only merchandise that is not in the standard swag bag. For instance CMON provided some Zombicide promos last year. If you are arriving day 1 and plan to go through registration the VIG badge also helps expedite the process of standing in line. It is also fairly limited, and went amazing fast last year. The year I played, I stripped all my close-assault straken guard out of their Chimeras, bought my veterans every upgrade, and went screaming around the table with nearly 80 T3 5+ guys toting 12" range weapons, + Straken. No blobs ... no special tricks ... just lots of sillyness.

So, 40k Friendly is totally worth it

I think it's misnamed. As you describe, it's wacky. That's well and good if having completely random stuff impact your game appeals to you, but I found it different than what I expected (a tournament with more themed armies and less flavour-of-the-month spam). It reminded me of going to a 'speed painting' event at a Games Day, only to find that it wasn't about painting quickly, but instead involved painting while blindfolded and wearing oven mitts. If that's what you want, go for it.

During the ending days of the 13th Crusade, reports spread across Imperial space of the appearance of an extremely relaxed prophet. Calling himself the Dude and hailing from the fringe, this strange man was known for preaching to the Empire of Man to simply “abide.” Initial reports were sporadic, with long periods of silence. In and of itself, this was not uncommon for that sector of space, for in this Age of Man…word travels slowly. Still, The Dude quickly gained the critical eye of the Ordo Hereticus. Just how many Inquisitors were dispatched to deal with this new threat is unknown, but what is known is that The Dude would have long periods of inactivity, where he would literally drop off the radar.

At the greatest expense, it has recently been confirmed that The Dude has simultaneously appeared in several different sectors at the same time. The exact explanation for these appearances remains a mystery, yet the reports hint at the unthinkable….either additional prophets have sprung up bearing the message of The Dude…or The Dude can exist in multiple locations at the same time. Whatever the case, the path of these appearances are on a course of convergence, and other than reports of his obsession with finding some long lost piece of archeotech, his exact purpose remains a mystery. Seventeen years and eleven AdeptiCons later, The Snake Sons are still going strong, and they've earned a distinguished place in Grand Tournament history as some of America's most dedicated hobbyists. So in the late Fall of 2012 when I heard that The Snake Sons had theory-crafted the ultimate Warhammer 40K Team Tournament list, a concept they called 'Smell the Power Glove,' and were planning to attend AdeptiCon 2013 to promote their new team concept, well needless to say I jumped at the chance to make the documentary, the, if you will, conumentary that you're about to see. I wanted to capture the, the sights, the sounds, the smells, of a hard-working wargaming club on the road. And I got that. But I got more, a lot more. But hey - enough of my yakkin'. I helped run it last year (solely because the TO was completely alone, and the Gladiator was over-staffed), and aside from some minor year 1 organizational issues, it was a lot of fun. Smaller armies, smaller boards, and the structure itself enforces the need for balanced armies (as your min-max army that does well on the trenches battlefield is going to absolutely suck in the narrow corridors of a space hulk)..
