I've mostly finished my Land Raider Redeemer conversion. I had bought this LR, along with a RT Land Speeder and ~20 RT beakie Marines off of Ebay while still living in England and have recently finished up the 'conversion work' and painted it with my new airbrush. I definitely need a little more practice with the airbrush, The grey came out well, but I ended up having to brush the yellow on as I couldn't get the consistency right (the grey looks good, but was problematic as well, it kept going on in bursts while the yellow came out fine but was to watery). The antenna will need fixing, I think I'll try and find some proper wire to do it with this time (use some plastic rod which didn't hold up).

It won't win any awards, but I'm happy with it.

Seconded!

And the Land Raider is looking good, I actually think the yellow looks perfect.

I've finished off one of my two land speeders (my other land speed is a second edition model) and four marines:

I love the chain axe. I remember carving chainswords out of those bits back in the day and never being happy how they turned out.

That's a much nicer option.

Man....I had some RT marines way back when and I gave them away to a buddy when I thought I wasn't going to be getting back into 40k...

Nice paint on those, I'll have to look into picking some up for some fun!

Man.. I love the old RT-era marines!

Nice job with the Land Speeder as well, if I remember correctly that thing was an absolute pig to assemble. And also, used to spend all of the games sliding around over the tabletop after its flight base had snapped off!

Looking forward to seeing more in any case.

My only complaint is it's heresy to not use goblin green bases!

It is a bit of a pain to assemble. I had to shave parts of it down/off after I pulled it all apart from the previous assembly (bought it used). Some parts don't seem to have great 'attachment' and just kind of butt up against other parts.

The second ed. one is also a pain, but it is one of my favorite Marine models. I need to finish it up here and the marines that go with it.

Although, to be fair, I just assembled a modern razorback, and it seemed to dry fit okay enough, but then once fully assembling it sure didn't. The top did not seat well in the sides. So, not just the old stuff that can be a pain I suppose.

<pedant>Actually, in the early days of 40k, most of the models haddark grey or brown rocky bases. The goblin Green was a much later addition.</pedant>

They look good. Especially with the helmet stripes.

Slowly, slowly (kids and family do take up a lot of time, don't they), adding to my Black Sheep.

I've finished up a Contemptor that I got on Ebay. I shaved off the more overt EC stuff, and have painted it up in the grey with some subtle chipping and weathering.

I view the Black Sheep as being a group of marines that was sent out on a joint mission, to get multiple legions used to working together, maybe halfway through the great crusade or a little after, that were lost in the warp. During the voyage, Chaos attempted to seduce the various factions, which helped prove which traitor legions might be susceptible. The loyalists outweighed the traitors, and after a series of battles once back in real space the loyalists (compromising some from each of the legions who participated) saw the heresy in full swing (having dropped out of the warp hundreds of years after having jumped out, and thus largely forgotten about/written off as dead). The contemptor is ex Emperor's Children, and has removed the relevant iconography. Hating what they have become, he has retained some of the bling to constantly remind him of the price that vanity demanded of his fellow marines.

Then some more of my first squad of marines, now up to 6 models (I'm going to put the previous ml marine into a devestator squad), with my now based land speeder and the contemptor.

I have a rt era Rhino, a partially scratch build Predator (as a walker), a modern Rhino, a Razorback, and another 14 marines on the assembly lines. However, given my rate of progress, that should be 10 years from now ;D
