Recently I have gotten into a miniature wargame called Dust Tactics. Dust Tactics is cross between a miniatures game and a board game; the miniatures are absolutely gorgeous and but movement and ranges are determined by how many squares you can move/shoot on the play mat. Overall Dust Tactics is a fast-paced, tactical, bloody game. The backstory behind the dust universe is really cool as well, it is set in year is 1947. Throughout the world, the major superpowers fight to have total control over a strange new source of power: Vk. It all started when the axis had discovered an alien space ship; the allies and soviets got their hands on the alien technology and soon war had been totally revolutionised with great big tanks mounted on legs dominating the battlefield, laser and exotic energy weapons, zombies and combat gorillas.

I have started off with painting up the allies from the starter set...

Here are two out of three members of the 'Hammer' squad which are now fully painted. These guys were fun to paint up with lots of detail to highlight and shade and they are quite big which allows you to do some freehand such as the American flag on the shoulder pads of my guys.

Here is the allied walker that comes in the starter box, now fully painted. Once again I wanted a green, leafy camo scheme and red on the weapons, but because the miniature is so big, I couldn't have just two colours on it, so I painted hazard stripes on the front armour panel.

Stay tuned for more photographs and updates and thanks for reading!

What I have got left to paint...
For Dust:
Lara Walter
Heavy Laser Grenadiers
Hans

Here is a photo of the finished BBQ Squad with one of the tank traps. The miniatures were very easy to paint up, all I had to do was dry brush the BBQ squad members with a lighter green, paint pouches brown, metal areas boltgun metal and the flesh. Then I give the miniature a brown wash and base it.

For the tank trap, I glued it onto a base and added details such as the barbed wire. Then I washed the tank trap with a black wash to make it look more like concrete and paint up the barbed wire with silvers and browns to make it look rusted. Then I based it.

Hi there! I have been very busy and managed to finish up some more units from the Dust Tactics core set...

The Axis Sturmpioniere squad...

The style I'm trying to achieve for the Axis miniatures is a Diesel-punk style, so I stuck with a very utilitarian grey but painted the metal areas to look slightly brassy.

Sorry I have not done an update in a long time, I have been very busy.

Here is a photo of my Aleph army that I bought off a friend. I stripped them and then re-primed them, starting with Army Painter Black and then spraying the minis with a bit of White from the top for highlights...

Here is the Deva Functionary now with some paint on her. As you can see I'm going for a glowing magma/stone paint-scheme. I was inspired by the Terminator 2 film with the Terminator that was made of 'living metal', I thought it would be cool to have cyborgs made out of 'living magma'. I replaced the arm with a Daemonette claw to make her look a bit meaner plus it would look cooler when painted up as red-hot magma.

I have now finished off my volcanic-themed ALEPH minis...
I decided to go with a volcanic theme for my Aleph force because Aleph draws parallels with Greek mythology so I did a little research on the greek Gods and chose Hephaestus, the god of fire.
The photo does not do the paint job justice, I'll upload some better ones soon.

I really want to write some background fluff for these guys but have limited knowledge of the Infinity universe... anyone got any suggestions on how I could start?

Here is some fluff behind my Aleph faction...

The Guardians of the Forge is an Aleph faction set up to defend the factory worlds that supply the Pan Oceania with their weapons. They are believed to have originated from a manufacturing facility on Hephaestus, a volcanic planet surrounded in myths and legends; many of the workers around the facility had reported seeing strange orbs and figures out on the ash-ridden plains with a fiery glow that penetrates through the perpetual twilight gloom. Many believe that the planet is alive and the strange phenomenon was warning, the manifestations constructed out of ‘living magma’. Some think that the mysterious fiery figures are part of a black project hidden away in the depths of the facility.

Terror tactics are used during their operations, the Guardians of the Forge will appear unannounced, taking the enemy by surprise, often intimidating them with their stone golem-like faces and glowing red eyes, advancing through cross-fire, relentless. The ground they tread on glows red, turning metal into slag and sand into glass, plants and animals spontaneously combusting. They leave smouldering ash and ruin in their wake.

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

How on god's earth has this not got more comments?!!

Absolutely fantastic, and some of the most original Aleph (scratch that.. Infinity miniatures) that I have seen - their true nature revealed perhaps?

Really like the contrasting colours you have used, and looking forward to some more pics of them!

It's somewhat disturbing seeing that claw, but they are indeed some of the most Original Infinity miniatures I've encountered on the internet

Thank you very much! I just had to do something completely out of the box with my miniatures as converting and coming up with my own factions and back-stories is my favourite part of the hobby.
I wanted the base colour to be really neutral so it wouldn't distract from the bright, fiery parts. I will be posting more pics up soon, I have finished painting up a Garuda Tactbot with a HMG, another Deva Functionary and Phoenix the Myrmidon Officer.

Thank you very much, I had originally lost the arm for the Deva functionary when I was stripping them, it must of gone down the plug-hole, so I rummaged around in my bits box and found a Daemonette arm which fitted perfectly. Then I though it would look out of place in an ordinary colour-scheme so I picked a volcanic scheme to make it work. They look almost demonic.

Here is an edited photo of my Aleph minis with a volcanic background...

Hello guys! I have been working some more on my Dust Tactics minis and I have finished painting up the Hans walker. I decided to go for a real greasy, dieselpunk look with lots of brass and weathering.

Does it look good? Is there anything that I could improve on?

Sorry for the long pause in this blog, life has certainly kept me occupied. The good news is that I am back on track with the miniatures painting and have some awesome stuff to show you guys.

Here is a photo of the Heavy Laser Grenadiers that I am working on for Dust Tactics. I'm painting them up in a dieselpunk style.

I'll be re-photographic all of my Dust minis so I have better quality photos to show you guys.

I have another video for you guys...

Just a quick update showing you what I have been painting up. I have been busy finishing off my Infinity minis, painting a Druze Shock Team. Also I share with you a quick tip for getting cheap basing sand.

Here are some quick photographs of the leader of the Druze Shock Team. I went for the colour-scheme on the box but added in a lava-themed twist by painting up the gaps in the armour to look firey. This will tie it in nicely with my magma-themed Aleph force whilst still look distinct as a separate kill-team.

So with the allied contingent from the now out of production Dust Tactics Revised Core Set, I wanted to paint them up as a USA-themed force. I looked at WWII American uniforms, specifically the colour and with that in mind I started painting these guys. The allied miniatures are pre-primed a drab green, so all I had to do was add the detailing and use some washes on them.

This is a heavy infantry squad armed with jump-packs and rocket fists. They are one of the most formidable assault units that the Allies have, armed with two very powerful and heavy metal gauntlets which have a small rocket attached to them for extra punching power. They can be particularly useful in close-quarter, urban warfare, being able to rocket jump over obstacles with ease. Their heavy armour combined with their maneuverability and close-combat prowess makes them an extremely efficient squad.

The Death Dealers are a Ranger weapons squad. They are armed with an assortment of weapons such as M1 AR's and an M9 Bazooka. This allows them to be quite versatile dealing with both infantry and tanks.

Rhino, leader of the allied force.

Here is one of the tank-traps from the Dust Tactics core set.

Here is my blackhawk walker, a light walker armed with PIAT anti-tank grenade launchers.

This is my BBQ squad. They are armed with two flamethrowers and three shotguns, perfect for taking out infantry.

Now all I have to do is finish painting up the Axis force, I have two heavy laser grenadiers and the Axis HQ.

I have been busy painting up some more of my Axis force, here is what I have done...

An Axis squad from the Dust Tactics boxed set painted up by me. The miniatures are pre-primed grey, so I sprayed some white paint at an angle from above to create pre-highlights and then did several layers of brown and black washes. After that I painted details such as the gun, lenses on the gas mask and squad symbols.

What is it? This is 'Hans', a light walker for the Axis faction from the Dust Tactics miniature war-game, set in an alternative WW2 setting. The Paint-scheme... I went for a diesel-punk paint-scheme, using dirty, brassy colours on the metal parts and adding heavy weathering. I really wanted the Axis force to look as though they have been through heavy fighting.

What are they? They are miniatures from the Dust Tactics miniature war-game, set in an alternative WW2 setting. They are heavily armoured Axis infantry armed with Flak cannons. They are extremely effective at taking down nearly all unit types and are certainly feared by the Allies and SSU forces. The Paint-scheme... I went for a diesel-punk paint-scheme, using dirty, brassy colours on the metal parts and adding heavy weathering. I really wanted the Axis force to look as though they have been through heavy fighting.

I have finished painting up the leader of the Druze shock-team. The Shock Teams are a paramilitary assault unit, well trained and equipped with sophisticated military gear. I went for a paint-scheme that was similar to the one on the front of the box but still tied it in with my volcanic-themed Aleph with firey, glowing recesses and sword.

I have now finished the last of the Dust stuff!

Here is the Axis commander 'Lara'. She is a forced to be reckoned with, armed with twin machine guns mounted on each arm. As for the colour-scheme, I painted her up in more of a brassy, oily scheme, to give her a worn, diesel-punk look.

Heavy Laser Grenadiers are heavily armed Axis troops armed with massive laser weapons which deal extreme damage. They are perfect for taking out both infantry and tanks alike. As for the colour-scheme, I painted them up in more of a brassy, oily scheme, to give them a worn, diesel-punk look.

Here is the current backlog status...
-Five regular Terminators - In progress, they are base coated and have started adding a green wash to some of them. I need to buy some terminator bases for them though, I'm thinking about getting some special sculpted, scenic ones.
-A squad of Khorne Marines converted to Nurgle - In progress, they are base-coated and have started adding washes and detailing them. Still got a long way to go with them before they are completed though.
-Custom Built Huron Blackheart - Basecoated at the moment.
-Custom Built Kharn - Basecoated at the moment.
-Metal Chaos Space Marine Lord of Khorne - Basecoated at the moment.
-17 Plague Zombies - In varying states of completion; some are complete, some are nearly complete and some are basecoated.
-20 Night Goblins - They just need detailing and to finish off the red shafts of the spears.
-One Troll - Started painting the skin, but nothing else.
-Custom Bolt-Thrower - Basecoated.
-Two Infinity Aleph Minis - Basecoated.
-Ten Custom Female Savlar Chem-Dogs - Basecoated.
-A squad of Skaven Clan Rats - Nearly done, I just have to finish the detailing and the basing.
-One Plague Drone - Got the fleshy areas nearly done, still has a long way to go though.
