I've been thinking of using leman russes as a count as predator for my DA because the pred model is Hilariusly overpriced.

However I'm not sure if i'll be able to get this accepted by the people I play against.

BTW the russ will be painted in DA colours and will have a space marine pilot.

Are you converting the turret? Personally, I wouldn't mind but I am easy that way.

...or you could take Imperial Guard allies and use ACTUAL Leman Russes.

The Russ and Predator are completely different sized and shaped moels - and the detailing is very different.

Not only will you be doing yourself out of a model that fits with the rest fo your army - you'll lose the 180* fire arc of the predators sposon mounted HB or Lascannons.

If I were you I'd spend the extra £5 for the Predator.

I have no problems with proxy models in friendly games - but in a Tournament setting I'd be a little annoyed.

I am currently taking commissions.

I'd be using the exterminator turret and lascannon sponsons.

It's kind of odd, since the physical profile of the vehicle is much, much different. I don't think I'd have a problem with it, but the size difference might be a disadvantage to you, since it's taller.

I actually did this for my space wolves. I had a LR Exterminator in 3rd edition (which was legal for SW) and just pulled off the front HB.

Of course, I haven't used it in years, but still...

Yeah, I'd not ben keen and for the sake of a fiver it doesn't seem like the constant questions and higher model profile would be worth it.

Considering that the Predator is only £4 more, in this case I would actually lean towards just using the proper model. Just saves confusion for your opponents, and as mentioned their height, footprint etc are pretty different.

If you're set on taking Leman Russes why not just take Guard allies? The advantage being, of course, that you get to use their rules...

Driven away from WH40K by rules bloat and the expense of keeping up, now interested in smaller model count games and anything with nifty mechanics.

Yeah, I wouldn't do it if starting a new army. I just have a legacy model that I need some way to field.

I'd play against it happily, as long as it was made clear beforehand

Get the Pred model, but magnetize the sponsons and don't glue down the top plate where the pred turret fits.
Then you can use the baseline chassis as another Rhino, or put a Razorback turret on it, or a Whirlwind launcher....
The kits are expensive (IMHO; rediculously so compared to standard plastic model kits) so you want to get as many uses out of each chassis as possible.

Depending on the fluff of the chapter you're using, I'd be cool with them using a Leman Russ. Predators are ugly anyway. I say, if you want a cheap alternative Predator, mod a WWII tank. Tamiya makes a bunch of 1/48 ones that are surprisingly cheap via importers like HLJ (only around $18 or so). I think that the Matilda tank would make a great alternative Predator chassis.

Thanks for that.
