Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

The name/character has been in Warhammer lore since 4th/5th. They've had previous figures of him, too.

They've also already done daVinci. He's Leonardo da Miragliano.

They used to be included in the ticket price, much like the White Dwarf subscription model used to be included in the sub. Not for a few years now, though!

Hmm... actually not disappointed in not getting this one. But $30 is expected for the price (albeit a total rip!)

I picked that one up at Germany's Games Day last year. Looks like there is no compelling reason to attend this year. It doesn't help that GD tickets this year are 50 Euros.

I feel the previous Marco model was much better(and luckily I have one waiting to be painted).

I'd buy this model, only because I'm a sucker for Empire characters, but $30 and in Finecast is a put off.

I'd only pick it up if one went on ebay for dirt cheap. I guarantee GW didn't sell out of them.

Even Games Day models from over ten years ago don't consistently go for more than $30 on eBay in the blister.

As for this model, I like it, but unfortunately it's about 15 years too late for my Marienburg Mordheim warband.

Just means they'll destroy any that are left over

Rick Priestley said it best:
Bryan always said that if the studio ever had to mix with the manufacturing and sales part of the business it would destroy the studio. And I have to say – he wasn’t wrong there! The modern studio isn’t a studio in the same way; it isn’t a collection of artists and creatives sharing ideas and driving each other on. It’s become the promotions department of a toy company – things move on!

$50 for a Games Day ticket when Games Day nowadays is nothing more than a place to queue up to buy merchandise and then the Games Day model is $30. I attended Games Day 18 years consecutive starting with the first US Games Day in 1993 and I have to say I can't believe how far it has fallen the past few years. It literally is nothing special at all the past few years.

I'd really like to know how many Games Day models they sold at US Games Day this year. The number is probably shockingly low.

Even Games Day models from over ten years ago don't consistently go for more than $30 on eBay in the blister.
That depends on the model. Space Marines, generally fetch a consistently high price compared to most other Games Day models. However, one thing that does drive the price down is when eBay becomes glutted with a certain model. For some reason there's been a glut of certain limited edition GW models from around five and six years ago on eBay lately and with that many auctions those models are not fetching their usual prices. When they go back to being rarer auctions the prices they command will likely rise again.

They used to be included in the ticket price, much like the White Dwarf subscription model used to be included in the sub. Not for a few years now, though!
And before that it was as it is now, the ticket price did not include the model and ticket prices and the models were much more modestly priced, the model was optional and sold separately. When they started bundling the two things the ticket price jumped to $40, before that tickets were never more than $20 and the model was somewhat reasonably priced. In fact, they started un-bundling again a few years ago, the last Games Day I bought made of pewter was the 2010 Chaos Sorcerer and it went for (I believe) $13.25.

So now it's $50 to attend Games Day and $30 for the model and there are no more upcoming product seminars for Warhammer and 40K, no more previews of products from the parent GW company, no more amazing amounts of new scenic tables, no more halls festooned with banners made by stores all over the country, no more entryways lined with Space Marine statues, etc. Games Day used to be this amazing otherworldly celebration of all things Games Workshop, now it's just an expensive meeting place to buy more merchandise. I used to schedule everything around going to Games Day to be sure I didn't miss it, now I just feel sad knowing what has been lost and wondering how GW is going to end up on the new path they've chosen the past few years.
