So there's a tournament that we have twice a year in northern sweden and the 40k side is 1995 points. There
are some restrictions but those wont affect my list. No FW
I'm gonna paint up and run a mechdar list for the next one, in september, and I'd like to hear what you guys think.
HQ:
Autarch: Jetbike, MotLG, Laser Lance, Fusion gun, Banshee Mask. 150p
Farseer: RoWit. 115p
I'm debating wich one I should use as warlord.
Elites:
5 Fire Dragons. 110p
Wave serpent: Holofields, twin scatterlaser, shuricannon. 145p
Troops:
10 DA: Exarch, twin linked shuricat, (Farseer goes here) 145p
Wave serpent: Holofields, twin scatterlaser, shuricannon. 145p
5 DA: 65p
Wave serpent: Holofields, twin scatterlaser, shuricannon. 145p
10 Guardians: Bright Lance (should I get a scatterlaser instead? Same points cost) 110p
Wave serpent: Holofields, twin scatterlaser, shuricannon. 145p
Fast Attack:
Crimson Hunter Exarch 180p
Heavy support:
Fire prism: Holofields. 140p
Fire prism: Holofields. 140p
Night Spinner: Holofields. 130p
At this point it's 1865 points. The models I have available besides those in the list are: 4warlocks, 10wraithguard
(old models), 7 striking scorpions (including claw exarch), 6 Harlequins (including Death Jester), a Fire Dragon
exarch with Firepike, some heavy support stuff that I won't write because I'm happy with the HS slot and the Avatar.
I'm thinking I could either add the squad of scorpions for counter-assault/infiltrate fun/outflanking fun or a group
of Guardians for the home objective or warlock for my existing squad plus FD exarch.
So, thoughts?

I would upgrade the FDs to Wraithguard do the same job but actually survive to shoot twice whilst FDs are too expensive to be suicide these days.
Whilst taking 10 DAs is pointless swap them for guardians and that should leave the points yo upgrade the other DAs to guardians too.
Scatter laser is the worst weapon for Serpent guardians. Shuricannon is cheaper and cuts with bladestorm where the Starcannon gives guaranteed AP2 to the unit. BL is only worth it if you're taking a Spearlock for 2 AT shots.
Runes are not really worth it on Farseer. Get him a spear instead.
I'd consider the Shard of Anaris on the Autarch help him go after character MCs.

I agree about dropping the runes, but the shard is very expensive for a single T3 model, re rollable 2+ cover save or not. A melta gun AND laser lance is a bit much, but not bad for the points.
If the farseer is going to be meched up, there is little boost he will provide. Taking a spiritseer is cheaper,provides more relevant powers to your guardians/wraithguard/avengers and gives you wraithguard as troops. All for less, and you can just use the farseer model as a spiritseer...or any warlock with a staff/spear.
Second taking wraithguard over dragons. You need to boost your points anyways and WG cost more for more punch and survival.
DA's are okay, but the exarch is useless if you just want the TL catapult. WIth the shimmerhshield, he is okay, otherwise just run ten normal avengers since you have no other models.
Second shuricannon or starcannon for meched guardians. The scatter laser is only good if you are planning on putting them on foot at the start of every game...but why do that if you have a serpent? Alternatively, put a squad on foot and take another wraith squad in their serpent. Either way consider a warlock.
If you go the scorpion route, you need all 7, the exarch with the claw and monster hunter...but I would spend the points elsewhere.

This would be interesting to do, but my Farseer doesn't have a staff and I don't see where in the codex it says that you can give the spiritseer a spear.

Autarch is not T3. He's T4 and basically any shooting at him that doesn't ignore cover is pointless. The Shard just massively improves his threat level. The ability to go and kill the Swarmlord is awesome.
It means he just cannot be ignored.

Well if your opponent has a ton of S8 shots that 2+ save is going to fail once and you will get instagibbed.

If my opponent fires enough S8 firepower to cause the 36 wounds it will take to kill him then I'm happy as he's spent 4-5 turns with all his AT firing at 1 jet bike. I win that game every time.
For instance at bs4 it would take on average over 63 S8 shots to kill him. If someone has the firepower to do that it will be all their firepower for many turns. Even DE dark light spam will only field about 28 S8 shots given how easy they are to kill it would be pretty much all game of them shooting to take him out...

I had to drop the exarch upgrade to make this work but this nets me 1977points, I have 2 spearlock models and will convert one into a spiritseer so I could give one lock a spear.
