Wow, I was looking forward to the Centurions from the descriptions, but those models are really silly and ugly... Is Hasbro doing models for GW now? What happend with the art direction?
The double-turreted tank is silly as well, the other variant (Hunter?) is nice though. Might be interested if it actually does something other than anti-air support.
The devastator variants are somewhat better, although far from mind-blowingly good. Basically its the obliterators-mutilators situation all over again. At any rate; I don't think they've got a place in my army anyway. They might be a mix of Devs, Termies and Dreads - and possibly better than each of those - but in this case I prefer the classics, even if they're obsolete.
As it stands now I *might* get the Chaplain and Librarian, and possibly the Hunter (mainly because I like the looks of it; fliers aren't much of an issue in my regular group).
Vanguard... mmm, dunno; they are okay, but the older ones - while pricey - look more dynamic IMO. I still have some footslogging 'CC veterans' I built years ago anyway. As for Sternguard: I just started building a squad from FW retro armour and will probably go to bits traders if there's anything in the new set that I can use to decorate them a little...
So it looks like I'll be spending €100 at best (Codex included) until the end of the year... I can live with that.
While I don't like the models, the centurion rules may be good for representing some sort of combat techmarine squad with the guns/drills mounted on mechandrites. Could be cool for my Iron Hands...

The captain and the Librarian look very good but I prefer to convert up my own captains. The Chaplin looks like it might be good if it was pictured from a different angle. The vanguard looks like a good kit like the fact that the hands attach to the arms should be good to add to my FW models, but I am a bit annoyed that there doesn't seem to be too many bits left over. Sternguard look good form the pic. Devastator Centurions look a lot better than the assault variants heavy bolters look a bit too big. The rhino variants for some reason remind me of RT rhinos.

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.
If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in.
I really gotta say, I'm surprised by the overall negative reaction to GW and the 40K direction. Let's be honest, form what I see a good majority of the folks like the Vanguards, the Sternguards and the HQ models. The newer Finecast Captains released 2 months ago also look way cooler then some of the stuff form years past (I just started collecting, but I can Google). The problem is with the Centurion thingis. Ok, some people like them, some hate them, some have no opinion either way. but, is that any reason to rag on the whole 40K series? of course not.
That being said, anyone tell if the banner for the Captain is sculpted of is it another free-hand one? I'm guessing feeehand cause he can be for many different chapters, but I just thought I'd ask.

No it is actually more like 70/30 against, if you actually read all the posts.
The shooty ones are better, but that is like polishing a turd.
If the rules AND fluff are good (I am highly skeptical of the fluff) I will proxy them some how.
The characters are 'OK'. I just noticed the Chaplain looks like he got TP'd by a bunch of drunk college kids. Without a better picture, the older chaplains look much better.
The tanks are cool but I don't get the ground pistons. A Vindicator would need something like that, not a missle luancher.

They may look cooler but you pay the price for it, the other Captains cost £20.5 for four which is 197.5% more per captain (I think), they're good but not that good.
I like everything I've seen so far. I'm really waiting on seeing the new Tacticals though, as that'll really make or break if I'm using them or FW to make my Exorcists army.

It's because other recent 40k releases have also had some, shall we say, divisive units for Dakka denizens to dislike. Thinking here of Dark Angels - Belial, new Asmodai, Landspeeder Vengeance; Chaos - mutilators, dinobot and hell turkey; Tau - Riptide had quite a bit of hate for its aesthetics if not its rules; Eldar - Wraithknight had plenty of detractors; Apocalypse - Lord of Skulls, assorted static SM Captains with ridiculous accoutrements. All of which have been viewed, rightly or wrongly, as evidence of laziness on the part of the design team and an effort to shoehorn larger more toy-like models into 40k. Hence why the Centurions are talked about in relation to 40k more generally.

Same here Tacs are what I want to see the most. I'm quiet surprised we getting so many pics so early.
And most are by new accounts. Almost like GW has started to recognize the Internet exists and decided to control leaks by leaking the product themselves. I mean really how does a box of the not even shipped to distributors vanguards 'accidentally' make it to a stores shelves?

I think it is safe to say GW is doing a LOT of the leaking lately. Like why would I, if I had the access, only post two pictures from WD and then wait 24-48 hours to post more?
Most dakka-ites would post a full spread as soon as they could.
It is very eyebrow raising how first we only see the drillatubbies and then after 24hours of pure internet rage do pictures of the dakkatubbies get released. I mean c'mon who does that?
And that is a good question about the vanguard.... How did the store even get them a month early?

Also close up snapshots of the character heads (head shots for their modeling agency portfolios), then later a group shot. Come on.
While I would like GW to finally recognize the Internet exists and that we as supporters of their games would like a preview, I just hate how they are still treating the consumer base. Just give us pics of the models. Then maybe after. Few days give us sprue pics. It might hurt sales a little but it also MIGHT increase sales as people start looking at ll the extra bling they get per sprue.

So okay, I made a quick sketch on how I might proxy the centurions:
-Combat oriented techmarine
-Accompanied by two turret guns/breaching drills mounted on tank tracks
-The turrets would share the base with the techmarine
-The 'tiity guns' would be mounted on mechandrites as part of the techmarines servo harness
