Hey fellas!

I just got back from Kinkos with my copy of Cold War Commander!!

Anyone out there play games with this rule set?

After just briefly glancing the rules, it looks like the Internet guys were right, it uses the same command system that Warmaster used.

This is GREAT NEWS!!!

Warmaster was a FANTASTIC game, and this looks to be as well.

Any feedback wouold be appreciated!

It's solid. I'm not into the post-WW2 era, but the system is great. I have Future War Commander for sci-fi.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

I play CWC at my local gaming club and play BKC quite often as for WW2. Cracking game.

I strongly recommend the CWC/BKC/FWC forums over at the official site. Nice little community with loads of rules discussion and AAR's. The author of the rules posts there frequently.

Yup plaed all three of the games, since first released.

Not a bad game, best played in 1/300th for me, but can be gamed in any scale really.

I got a little tired of its mechanics after a while, but had some very good games and many fun times with the rules.

Very little. Just the army lists in the back and some rules about sci-fi stuff. You should have no problem using Cold War Commander to represent anything futuristic you might want once you've played the game enough to understand the ins and outs.

Any interest in 6mm late 1980's Warpac and NATO miniatures? For a whole bunch I'm trying to sell.

I have a bunch of Dark Realm's 6mm stuff. As well as some GHQ modern Chinese that I run as a human sci-fi force. As well as some GZG Dirtside stuff.

Huh. Sounds like you'd be better served by Future War Commander, not CWC.

I do have FWC, it's the original poster FarSeer Andyman who has CWC.

If I was doing CWC, I'd probably go with 6mm/1:285 from GHQ. I already have some Chinese, so I'd add some other opposing force. GHQ is pretty amazing. The little APCs I have actually have lug nuts on their wheels.

Indeed Easy E..

Kinkos is still around. They merged with FedEx in our neck of the woods.

Next copy will be in full color. The book printed well, but will look even better in color.

Im using 1/72 scale figs. They are cheap and readily available from my Hobbytown USA and Hobby Lobby. And there is a huge selection of figs and eras to choose from.

My buddies and I are doing an 'Invasion America" campaign and we can now play larger battles in a shorter amount of time.

Ill post an AAR next week, as we are gaming on Saturday..

Nice. I'm a fan of 1/72 plastics. My ancients are all 1/72 plastics.

Looking forward to the AAR.

I'm looking forward to the AAR too!

1/72 is a great choice of scale as there are some really impressive 20mm moderns out.

Casually observed some guys playing this at my FLGS. Looks like a fun game and the theme lends itself well to mini wargamming in general.
In the long term should I decide to play an historical I will look at this one first.

I'm sold on it, and frantically painting vehicles for the Toyota Wars!
It's good for Iraq but the Yankee stuff is SO expensive in points!...
The "system" has now been bought by Pendraken, but they do say they are going to support it.

As mentioned above, it's well worth getting on their forum.

I'm not going to worry too much about points when I have some forces together to run some games and will go with the what looks right approach.

I've got a copy of all three of the "Commander" rulebooks (Blitzkrieg, Cold War and Future War) but I've only played BKC. The rules work really well and it's my preferred rule set for Battalion or Regiment size WWII games.
