I just found out a few days ago that Im going to The Nova Open and Im scrambling in a panic to get everything ready. I just heard from a friend today that we are required to have a 2ft by 2ft display board to put our models on. Ive been trying to find something on the Nova wedsite about this and am finding nothing. To be honest I cant find anything saying my army is ABSOLUTELY REQUIRED to be painted either. My only goal for Nova is to go and play new players and have a good time with the tactics side of the game. Can anyone tell me what the ABSOLUTE requirements are for just going to play? I dont really care too much about the painting or modeling type things, just the gameplay.
Thanks for any responses, sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

the NOVA like most Tournaments at the GT level require a basic 3 color minimum to play. What is also important is that everything is WYSIWYG as well. I dont think that there is a "requirement" to have a 2' x2' display board that is the max dimensions if you decide however to bring one to display your army on. However i do suggest you bring some sort of "tray" at the very least to bring from table to table each game. The Nova provides a sideboard that you can place your tray on without disturbing the terrain.

So at the very least i would spray bomb your army a base color, toss on a second dry brush color or a wash and then pick out a detail with a third color and there you have your table top minimum. Your going to want your army at the very least minimally painted because your going to play against some of the prettiest armies you ever had the pleasure to play against at the NOVA

I def plan on painting my army beyond the 3 color minimum. Im about half way there now. I didnt want my army to look like absolute poop against the pretty ones. The thing that had me worried was this display board. And I went out and bought a cookie sheet last night to carry my models around on, I planned on doing that anyway. Thanks for the response man, Im in a little less of a panic now

I can say, as the overall organizer, we definitely do not require a display board.

If you really want one, there's a $25 class Jawaballs is teaching right before the GT on Friday where you can make your own, but you don't require one to participate at all.

'Display boards' are not required, but with the time constraints, you will be damn hard pressed for time to move your army around between rounds by packing back up in your case every time.

Usually you have a 'tray' of some sort so you can go direct from deployment to the table, and direct from casualties back to the tray. Then at the end of the game, you just carry a tray of all your dudes to the next table.

Cookie sheets are really good.

Cool, I like that guy. However he has one of the worst online handles in existence. Perhaps only Ewoktesticles would be worse

Okay, then. This thread has served its purpose; more Nova discussion can happen in the primary Nova thread.
