Hey everyone, just wanted to post the images of my most recent Tau models that I painted. I'd like to have spent even 'more' time on them but for the time I invested in getting these painted I am personally pleased with the results. I hope everyone enjoys:
For anyone interested in seeing my gallery (commission work as well as personal) please feel free to check me out here:

For anyone interested in commission work, I paint for Brush 4 Hire:

Love 'em! The XV9 is (specifically the XV9-04) is my favorite Tau battlesuit by far. Great work!

Thanks, after having used them in a game I can tell you (with the new FW rules) that the most efficient suit is the one with the burst cannons, all of the other weapon variants overcost the suit and just don't do the same job. Love the aesthetics though.

Don't necessarily disagree with you on that. I have all three variants plus parts to convert to the pulse submunitions rifles and R'alai (who is an absolute powerhouse, IMHO), and I did favor the -04 prior to the recent update, but with that RoF increase of the BCs, I can't deny that the standard XV9 is the lead slinger of choice. Still, the -04 just looks so damn cool. Mine are done up in a Fortress Gray and Chaos Black scheme with Blood Red Sept markings. Really makes the models pop.
Again, awesome models!

Yeah that and twin linked and the costs for the other weapons, kinda makes the choices easy, I have R'alai as well, just wish he could join units but according to the old (and new rules) he cannot attach to squads. If he could join a duo/trio of suits that'd be great.

Having built and painted a unit of 3 myself, I don't think I can express my admiration and how beautiful these actually are. Did you have a problem with them snapping at the ankles under there own weight?
I personally favour the Fusion Cascades :-)

Well done. Your work always makes me want to buy more Tau stuff.

Ask yourself: have you rated a gallery image today? |

Not particularly, however the arm sockets/connections are so small that during basic painting/handling I've had some issues. The Phased Ions being thin and long were a bit of an issue as well (with bending/warping) however I got them back to a relatively straight state (one of them still has a slight curve to it, kind of OCD about it but don't want to take a heat gun to the model right now lol).

I love the Tau aesthetics however after having played with them several months now I am finding them to be a little static/boring. I've had the most fun fielding them with my Marines and/or with more suits than Firewarriors. The gunline just gets kind of boring for me, but introduce some drop pod marines and bouncing suits and the playstyle is so much more engaging and entertaining.
As for inspiring you to get more Tau that makes me happy, I've caught a little flak over some of my work with the Tau but I've had several people say what you've said or they say it makes them want to play Tau. I've actually had a lot of people ask about the color scheme (one dude even asked me to send him a paint list lol).
So if you like the work you could always get more Tau and if you are inclined you could always get a quote from Brush 4 Hire and ask for me to paint some Tau for ya (Shameless self promotion there I know lol).
