Doesn't have to be the full 1000 Dreadnoughts, I just wanted some fluff for a complete chapter of Dreadnoughts to incorporate into my Codex found

Thank you!

The story so far...
Sufferning catastrophic losses, including the obliteration of their chapter house, the *Insert Name Here* chapter was recalled to Mars and awaited the decision by the high lords of Terra whether or not they would rebuld their chapter or send them off on a final, glorious mission, much like the choice offered to Pedro Kantor of the Crimson Fists. One of the magistrates on Mars was particularly friendly with the *Insert Name Here* Master of the Forge, who, due to his servo-harness, was protected from the crumbling Chapter House, and had been thinking of ways to increase dreadnought production and utility to the Chapter. He pleaded to the high lords to send all remaining healthy marines from the chapter to his Forge so he could incorporate them into the Mechanicus Cult and they conceded, convinced that the Imperium would be better served with more Techmarines available.

While on Mars, the wounded Chapter master and Captains were entombed in specially crafted dreadnoughts at the request of the Master of The Forge so that they could continue to serve The Emperor. Since the High Magos had many Dreadnoughts at his disposal he was able to save many of their wounded chapter as well. This new *Insert Name Here* chapter is composed of over 380 dreadnoughts of various types, some of which are of completely new design and are under extensive Field Testing.
This is currently the leader, though other fluff will be assimilated into this one, as will any other ideas for names.. I just think Ironhides reminds me of Transformers too much xD
I also want help with: Symbols, heraldry, named characters and their histories, unit markings and all sort of other stuff! If you have any ideas, please leave them, nevermind how ridiculous you may think they be

You could work with iron hands ideas say younger initiates are partial bionic working up to being fully entombed.
Or use forgeworld mechanicus models for the whole robotic package

I kinda like the idea of something great befalling an entire Space Marine chapter.. It just needs to feel right. Some kind of 'cataclysm' that could nearly snuff out 1,000 Space Marines. It would just add a lot of depth to the Chapter's fluff and also give me some rules to work with when I'm sorting out named characters, thanks though!!

What about a massive warp rift? If it happened before the Horus Heresy it would make more sense that around 1000 survived, as I doubt a massive warp rift would barely kill a single marine.

R'lyeh

maybe have the rest of the chapter slaughtered by the nids? Besides having the devastation, it would give them a reason to focus on machines and dreadnoughts, to use the mechanical to defeat the biological

oh well if you're looking cataclysms you came to the right universe we have loads of options

From the usual suspects
Ork WAGHHHHHH
Eldar angry warhost
Demonic incursion
Angry chaos marines
Hungry tyranid swarm
Built on a necron napping house

Or more specific ones

(Astral claws) Rammed a battle barge into a necron floating tomb world fighting on it for days to bring down the shields

(Crimson Fists) Giant missile hits chapter fortress while a big WAGH is coming

(Mantis warriors) Corrupt inquisitor frames the chapter and they go into the eye of terror for several years being generally badass until they are exonerated

And plenty other besides too, hope those help.

Come watch me and my friends play good games poorly on Boss Room Ahead

Have a wonderful day

Thinking the tragedy involved an eldar acctually.

This particular chapter's homeworld was on an eldar crone world and they wanted the marines and humans off. They worked from the shadows to activate an ancient weapon left by the old ones that was entombed underground on the planet. This particular weapon cause a massive radioactive pulse that caused horrendous mutations in the populace, even effecting the hardy space marines.

All their stock of gene seed was rendered useless and their entire scout company unfit to be converted. At this point the eldar finished activation of the engine and cause their fortress monestary to crumble killing almost everyone inside.

Sounds good, but why would they destroy their own world with mutating radiation if they wanted it back?

Since the radiation only affected a small portion of the total surface of the planet it seemed like it was worth the cost to remove the human and marine threat.

To compound matters, Most of the chapter had been off fighting the a tyranid incursion, so when they returned home, depleted of 300 or so battle brothers, they had no way to recover. Their force, while docked in space apon arriving was attacked by a joint eldar and dark eldar fleet, which after a bloody and intense firefight, ended with a final desperate boarding action by Chapter Master Vash Blaine Broussard upon the dark eldar's main raiding cruiser.

Only himself, horribly wounded during the fight, his first captain, and a handful of other first company marines made it back from the burning wreckage. He quickly underwent the Sus-an membrane coma after being recovered and his closest brother, the chapters Master of the Forge Felix Pike Tourde', could only do his best to rig together a few decently opperating ships to carry what remained of their chapter back to Holy Sol and await the desicion of the High Lords of Terra.

I've acctually written up tons of stuff in the past. I just tend to do things when im inspired and then end up being too lazy to finish it.

I've acctually got an entire online game concept written up on Penzu.com and have developed a pen and paper game system based on dragonball z in the past. ~)~

Writing proffesionally is alot of work though so i mostly keep everything stowed away.

Oh and I think ive come up with a better name for the chapter. The Knights Indomitable as per the suggested naming protocol.

There was a list in either the old 5th codex or in another book that had suggested names for home brewed chapters. Forgot which book it is exactly.

Definitely not the 5th Ed Codex, I have it right here, but it may have been the 5th Ed BRB, I never got that (I had the AoBR minibook)
Also, me and my friend have been talking, and LD10 on the Servoskulls is pointless, if they get into nearly any cover they get 2+ cover saves anyway, so GTG is pointless, so they may as well be fearless considering they're robots, and also them having a rule that lets them move in the Assault Phase is pointless, they may as well be jet pack infantry :3
And why do Servoskulls have Scout and Infiltrate? Infiltrate eliminates the need for Scout ^_^
And, change it to 10ppm? 9ppm is a bit low for a 2+ cover, infiltrate, and the ability to ignore cover for other units
