What are you using the corridors for, Bolognesus?

And I'm not necessarily against them, I just don't think you can get away with 1 corridors and 1 grassy. You need 2 variants to make any theme worth doing, imo.

RPGs etc., really. I might just rethink pledging entirely, just realized I'd be much better off just print 'n playing a more modular system might be more suited (and using 2D print for wargames feels 'off' to me - I'd splurge extra and go something Zuzzy for wargames in all likelyhood).

Agree any theme would need at least two, if not more, variants though. I'm kind of surprised that would be an issue with 'card' stuff, but then again I never quite did get the hang of setup costs and moqs in printing, obviously.

Love the new update! I hope the battlefield is very barren, though- I'd actually prefer it to be wartorn (rocky / craters / ditches) with little or no grass.

Also, there should be a Warboard G and H right (City 1 / Battlefield 1 and City 4 / Battlefield 2) and they're just not pictured, right?

You spoil everything RiTides! lol. Yup, I'm join to add that option v soon! it will be city1/battlefield 2 and city 4/battlefield1.

Im also on the verge of deciding on the next stretch goal. It going to have to be a fantasy set, and I'm really liking the idea of creating a dungeon graphic.

Excellent

I know it's just a WIP / sample, but I think I'd like less grass and more barren landscape (grass might not translate to print well, imo):

Also, I didn't realize the 4-board box stretch goal was only 9K! That's awesome

For the smaller cityscape board stretch goal at 10K, I'm guessing it would just be one option (the whole cityscape on a single board) repeated 4 times? I think I'll just stick to the big cityscape to have 4 different tiles, but that is still very cool

Here's the current stretch goal list from the main KS page:

If we end up surpassing the original campaign goal, stretch goals and there details will be posted here. But for now heres a little something to wet your whistle, a list of proposed stretch goals. Leave a comment to let me know what you'd like to see.

Having had a meeting with the manufacturer last night (23rd Sep) I can now confirm that the stretch goals will be:

1 - 9k - 4 board multi box made from correx (or similar) to be offered as an additional reward. The multi box will hold 4 boards and their cases. The multi case will also be offered at cost + postage to all kickstarter backers.

2 -10k - New Board Types! - 15mm scale - All the 4 cityscape designs shrunk down onto 1 board backed with the grassy battlefield options.

3 -12k - New Board Type! - To be decided, So have your say now!

Also, my vote for the 12K stretch is a starfield for X-wing players (probably backing the cityscape). Although the suggestion of a cityscape / battlefield transition board was a good idea, too, but might be harder to implement (and 28mm players are already getting the love with most of these options).

If you do go with a starfield, keep in mind that X-wing is played on I believe a 3' x 3' space usually? So, they'd likely only need a 2 boards. This means that the 2 cityscape boards it goes on the back of should be different than the 2 cityscape boards you have the corridors on the back of, so that someone could have 4 cityscape tiles on the front, with 2 corridors and 2 starfield tiles on the back.

X-wing players, if you want this post up . I know there's lots of 40k players who also play X-wing, so it'd make a very versatile board, particularly with the other 2 backings being corridors!

I second the vote for a star field! that would very much move me from the still thinking about pledging bucket to the getting lots of boards bucket

A starfield design would be pretty easy to implement, but I'm thinking that the fantasy players aren't getting much at the mo. Well apart from the batt field board.

The two options I'd like to get to grips with next are starfield and fantasy dungeon. But I also want to get underworld, fantasy town, desert and ice world boards on the go. And before I can get those done I need to finalise the 2nd corridors board and both battlefields.

So much to do! Tonight and over the weekend I hope to release more graphics and another video.

Yeah, I am totally floored by the lack of RPG dungeon as an initial aspect of this KS.

'Boards' don't naturally lend themselves to wargaming, but do to RPG and dungeon stuff. Doing a Spacehulk board is awesome, but talk about a limited market. If anything I would think the RPG dungeon market would outshine the Spacehulk boards by a mile.

I wish them luck, If their market is Sci-Fi skirmish and wargaming, so be it.

Well, seeing as how he said he wants to do a fantasy dungeon very soon (in this campaign if it hits the stretches!) it sounds like you're in agreement

A dungeon board seems a poor choice in my opinion. There are plenty of tiles and even resin pieces out there which allow the user to change layout as required. A static 'this is the dungeon' board would have pretty limited utility compared to being able to dynamically lay out tiles in my opinion. Frankly the space corridor suffers from the same limitations. Those just seem to be bad choices for a big ol' board.

That's where I'm at, CptJake, but I can see the use of just the 2 space corridors boards, and several backers have said those are the ones they're getting.

I think the fact that there is 2 makes an opportunity for 2 of another design (like a starfield, dungeon, etc)... but what it is will be determined by popular demand it seems. So post your preference if you have one

agreed, I use tiles and dwarvenforge in my current pathfinder game and dont think I would use a dungeon warboard. For a dungeon things needs to be very module to be useful IMO

I personally think there are already plenty of starfield map options out there...and in reality, its one of the easiest type of maps to make yourself with a minimal amount of crafting skill.

The decent city boards, as presented however, are a lot bigger challenge to make (or to make well).

Now, of course, a later add on map, that is starfield on one side, and "water" naval on the other would be a great additional product...but I don't think that it should be part of the core set - produce what is not out there first.

but just my 2cents.

It's funded!!!!

Congrats on the funding, well done.
I think starfield / sea would be a waste of a great product, add them in as a core choice but not as a stretch goal. Lets see something more unusual like that fantasy city / ruined lab complex / industrial something or other.

Thanks Nephilim,

I agree completely, the only thing is that there has been such a demand for a starfield print. Keep an eye on the KS page later today, for some more updates!

Thanks again to everyone here on Dakka for their support and pledges. Funded in less than a week, can you believe it!

I'd have thought a double sided star field/Episode IV "Space Station with trench" would have been ideal for the X-Wing crowd - covering both the generic and the iconic in one easy hit that can be stored with their X-Wing stuff

Just a quick update - I've add a few more graphics and confirmed the stretch goals. I had wanted to get another little video up as well, but time just ran away from me today.

I'm also sorting out all the designs and specs to send over to the manufacturer. There just doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day!

Azazelx - I have added 'starfield' as a stretch goal option.

Multi-case unlocked! (Although folks will have to add on for it)

Hope it is the same shape as the deluxe box, if so I'll definitely be adding on for it to transport all 4 boards together.

This is a lovely product but I feel the price point is a bit too close to what a proper plastic board costs.

Which ones are you referring to? I haven't come across any plastic options at that price point.

I've put it up on the kickstarter page, but you'll have to wait for the visual as we're still finalising things.

Thanks guys for the support. I'm now looking to getting the into some stores!

I see it here now:

£7 --- Multi Case - Carry 4 Warboards (including their individual packing) in one case. Makes for even more convenient transportation and storage. *Details and visuals to follow.
Estimated delivery: Dec 2013

Add £3 to ship outside the UK

If you're already pledging for the warboard, will you still need to add the 3 pounds for shipping?

Since it holds their individual cases inside of it, I'm thinking this might not be necessary for everybody, but I am looking forward to the visual

Nice, davin!

Assuming we hit 10K and stop flirting with it do you think the 15mm scale city will work okay with 4 tiles repeating the same design? I'm sorely tempted to go for that one instead of the full-size cityscape, as I am playing Dropzone Commander (10mm) quite frequently now, and hoping to play Mecha Front (15mm) when it releases. But I'm not sure about how the 4 duplicate tiles will look... maybe you'll get a graphic up for it?

If this configuration had been possible, I probably would've gone for- Front: City tiles 1-4. Back: Corridors 1-2, 15mm Cityscape x 2. But that still would've left me with a 3x4 15mm battlefield when I really need 4x4, so it might not've been worth making that configuration possible, anyway (as most people probably need 4x4).

Anyway, looking forward to the 15mm unlocking and I'll make my decision then
