Subject: Panzerleader goes to Golden Throne Southwest (All games complete)

Preacher of the Emperor

I'll be playing in the Golden Throne Southwest GT in Waco this weekend and it'll be my third major tournament in Texas with the Marines this year and the first with the new book. This has been a pretty good GT season for me. The Marines took Best General at Railhead Rumble in March while the Nids took 5th overall at Wargamescon. The only hiccup came with a rather pedestrian showing at Alamo (Marines went 3-2 with an abysmal showing in Game 5). So now the Void Eagles hope for a good finish to the end of my 2013 season with a new book and a new look.
Here is my list for this event:
Chapter Master, Artificer Armor, Bike, Thunder Hammer, Shield Eternal
Librarian, Mastery Level 2, Bike, Auspex
7 Bikes, 2x Plasma Rifle
8 Bikes, 2x Gravity Rifle
5 Tacticals , Meltagun, Razorback w/Lascannon & Twin-linked Plasma Guns
5 Tacticals, Meltagun, Razorback w/Lascannon & Twin-linked Plasma Guns
3 Centurions w/ missile launchers, gravcannons/amps, omniscope
Thunderfire Cannon
5 Devastators, 4x Missile Launcher
Stormtalon w/ Twin-linked lascannon
Stormtalon w/ Skyhammer Missiles
3 Attack Bikes w/Multi-meltas
The theory is relatively simple. The bikes put upfield pressure to establish positional dominance while the tacticals, devastators, and TFC provide long range fire support. The centurions fill a niche by providing anti-monstrous creature capability. Hit & Run should allow the bikes to disengage from combat when needed. The tournament has two three objective crusade (4 scoring units for me with 1 fast denial), one five objective big guns (7 scoring + 1 fast denial), one scouring (7 scoring), and one purge the alien (I'd really like a good matchup here since this army has 14 kill points in it). With good objective placement, I should be in position to make a decent game out of all these missions.
I'll update as I go.

I would drop one AB and add it to the 8 man biker unit, this will give you the tactical flexibility to combat squad if needed

Round 1
Opponent: CQ's Sisters of Battle
His List:
Saint Celestine
Uriah Jacobus
Battle Conclave w/4 Crusaders (power axe, storm shield), 5 assassins (power sword/power maul), Repressor (Rhino w/ stormbolter, heavy flamer and front AV 13!!!)
Repentia Squad
3x Penitent Engines
10 Sisters, HB, Meltagun, Repressor
10 Sisters, HB, Meltagun
10 Sisters, heavy flamer, meltagun, Rhino
Retributor Squad, 4x HB, Rhino
Retributor Squad, 4x MM
Bastion w/ Quad-Gun
Every one of his units that could had the standard that allowed him to reroll failed Acts of Faith
Terrain:
The table was pretty sparse. CQ ended up with a ruin and a good sized hill in his deployment zone and I ended up with the same. There was a large, LOS blocking ruin in the center.
Mission:
Crusade, 3 Objectives. I won the roll and placed one objective in the center of the LOS blocking ruin. CQ placed one objective just outside the 12 inch mark of one of the deployment zones. I put the last objective in the middle of an open area of the board. Nightfight was in play turn one.
Warlord Traits: I rolled the 12" leadership bubble and Celestine rolled FNP within 3" of an objective.
Psychic Powers: The librarian generated Invisibility and Puppet Master.
Deployment:
CQ won the roll for initiative and choose the side with the lone objective on it. He placed his bastion on the right side next to his hill. The MM repressors went inside the bastion and the HB repressors went on top manning the quad gun. The repentia squad hid behind the bastion ready to jump inside the Retributor Rhino. A sister squad went on top of his hill from where they could later try and claim the objective in the open. The pentient engines and battle conclave along with Celestine lined up ready to move on the central objective and the two sister squads in transports went down on the left flank in his deployment zone ruins with the third objective.
I responded by placing my TFC on the right flank behind my ruins. I made sure it was over 36 inches away from the HB retributors in his bastion but it could still range all 3 objectives (just barely) if needed. Everything else went on the left flank. The devestators and centurions went on the hill from which they could range the central objective and the objective in CQ's deployment zone easily once the centurions moved forward a little. The Razorbacks went to the right of the hill to block LOS for the attack bikes hiding behind them. The plasma gun bikes were on the far left with the chapter master and the grav gun bikes were next to the Razorbacks with the librarian. I decided not to seize.
Turn 1:
The sister's right flank is static, waiting for the dawn to break. His repentia steal a transport and move forward. The penitent engines, Celestine, and conclave move towards the central objective. The sisters on the left flank shift the HF squad and transport towards the central objective while the HB squad sits still. Only one HB can see a target to shoot with night fight in play, but her aim is fantastic as she kills a devastor marine.
The plasma bikes move forward at full speed to threaten the HB sisters on his backfield objective. The razorbacks shuffle forward slightly to let the attack bikes draw a clean LOS to the HB sister's rhino. The grav gun bikes get boosted with invisibility (assume every turn unless said otherwise) and move forward slightly to be in position for next turn. I check to make sure they stay over 18 inches from all the sister of battle melee units closing on the center. Shooting combines to destroy the HB rhino and immobilize the Repentia's borrowed ride. First Blood for the Void Eagles.
Turn 2:
The repentia's repressor, celestine and the penitent engines continued the push into the central ruins. The HF sisters in their Rhino pushed towards the center as well. The right flank dumped all its firepower into the invisible bikers (the only target in LOS other than the TFC) and save virtually everything bounce off the 2+ cover save.
The plasma bikes closed on the left flank HB sisters and set up to assault them on a 2" charge. The marine center juggled to keep everything 18" or more away from Celestine and the penitent engines. One of the storm talons came on and used the center ruins to get natural cover from the quad gun. Shooting saw the HF sisters Rhino explode from devastator missiles and the rear pentient engine become immbolized by a MM shot. A lascannon shot destroyed the Repentia's ride and the centurions wrecked the two forward penitent engines. The TFC shot the S6 barrage on the now disembarked Repentias, killing about half the squad and killing Celestine on a fluke sequence of rolling (I scattered one hit on her and CQ failed the save). The plasma bikes and CM assault the sisters by the left objective, breaking them in combat but failing to sweep the last four survivors.
Turn 3:
Celestine stands back up with 1 wound and jumps over the building towards the marine Razorbacks. The HF squad uses its meltagun to pop open a Razorback. The fleeing sisters rally and kill a single bike with their shooting. Shooting from the bastion puts a wound or two on the chapter master. The battle conclave disembarks and moves towards the invisible bikes with the Repentias in support.
The plasma bikes gun down the surviving sisters and contently hunker down in area terrain, claiming both an objective and line breaker. The chapter master seperates out and moves toward the HF sisters. Plasmagun fire from the surviving Razorback drops Celestine. The second Storm Talon fails to arrive. The storm talon and the TFC kill all the HB retributors, leaving the quad gun unmanned. All of the battle conclave except for Uriah and 1 assassain are killed by combined fire from the centurions and the librarian's bike squad. The repentia are polished off by fire from the devastators and the tactical squad from the destroyed razorback. The chaptermaster assaults the HF sisters and destroys them in assault.
Turn 4:
The MM retributors climb to the top of the bastion and man the quadgun. They also snap shoot the chaptermaster and kill him. The last scoring sister unit comes off the hill and runs for the uncontested objective in the open. Celestine stands back up (this time with 3 wounds) and assaults a tactical squad, killing one. The marines pass morale and then hit and run out of combat. The battle conclave assaults the librarians bike squad. The last assassin is killed by overwatch and Uriah dies to the libby's force weapon.
The last Talon arrives and is promptly shot down by the remanned quad gun. The bikes move towards the center objective. Shooting from the bikes and the TFC reduce the last scoring sister squad to one girl. The centurions put 10 AP2 wounds on Celestine from grav cannons and drop her down again. Tactical marines move to hid behind the LOS blocking ruin but still within 3" of objective.
We ended the game here because of time.
Final Score:
Void Eagles: 9 (2 objectives, Slay the Warlord, First Blood, Linebreaker)
Sisters: 1 (Slay the Warlord)

Round Two
Opponent: Jeremy C’s Imperial Fists w/ DA Allies
His List:
Imperial Fist Primary
Chapter Master with Burning Blade, Shield Eternal, Artificer Armor and Bike
6 Bikes with two grav guns
10 man squad in Rhino
10 man squad in Rhino
10 Devastators w/ 3 Missiles (Flak) and 1 Lascannon
10 Devastators w/ 3 Missiles (Flak) and 1 Lascannon
3 Centurions w/ Missiles and twin-lascannons
Stormtalon w/ Skyhammer Missiles
DA Allies
Librarian w/ the Night Vision Visor
5 man squad w/ plasma cannon
5 man squad w/ plasma cannon
Whirlwind
Terrain:
There was one hill and a large ruin along the middle of the table and some scattered forests and craters. Each deployment zone had a ruined looking piece of area terrain in it we called 4+ cover.
Mission: Big Guns w/ 5 objectives and hammer and anvil deployment. One objective ended up in each deployment zone and the other three were on the centerline of the board. Night Fight was in play turn one.
Warlord Traits: Jeremy rolled something useless, I generated “Champion of Humanity” (+d3 VP for killing enemy warlord in challenge)
Physic Powers: Jeremy took Prescience, my Librarian generated Hallucinations and Psychic Shriek
Deployment: Jeremy won the roll off and elected to go first. He deployed everything on the 24 inch mark except for the devastator squads which sat back in area terrain on either side of the center ruin. The DA libby joined the devastator squad on his deployment zone objective. The centurions and a 5 man squad were to the left of the ruin, the whirlwind was tucked behind a hill directly behind the center ruin and both Rhinos, his bikes, his chapter master and his other 5 man squad were on the right.
I responded by putting my devastators and TFC on my home objective in a forest on the left and tucked everything else into a crater on the right. I deployed fairly far back to ensure that everything was out of range of his devastator squads on turn one. I made a mistake here by forgetting about orbital bombardment and had my centurions and attack bikes too close together. I decline to seize and we proceed to turn one.
Turn One
Everything except the whirlwind and the devastators moves forward. Jeremy drops his orbital bombardment on my centurions but between shrouded and 5+ area terrain they make all their saves. His centurions also shoot at my centurions but again I make good cover saves and take only one wound.
My turn is equally uneventful. I shuffle some units around and use searchlights to try and pop a rhino but don’t have any success. Shooting picks off 2 or 3 of his bikers and that’s it.
Turn Two
Jeremy’s rush continues. The lead Rhino comes barreling towards my devastators and pops smoke. The bikers follow on the Rhinos heels and then second Rhino tucks in behind the ruins in good cover and able to threaten the objective there. Shooting combines to kill two of my centurions and put a wound on the third but nothing else.
My librarian casts Hallucinations on his bike squad and he fails DTW. I roll a 2 and pin the chaptermaster and bike squad. This would prove to be the turning point in the game. I now proceed to ignore that unit and start focusing on troops. My attack bikes kill the lead rhino (First Blood) and the TFC kills 9 of the 10 occupants in a spectacular barrage. The other rhino is killed by Razorback fire and its passengers are killed coming out. Fire from both bike squads kills off the 5 man squad on the right.
Turn Three
Jeremy’s shooting kills both razorbacks and some bikes but with both his bikes and his imperial fist tac squad pinned he can’t continue the pressure of the attack this turn. The centurions and 5 man squad on the left make for the left most objective. The last survivor of the lead tac squad tries to charge the devastators and is killed by overwatch fire.
The attack bikes, plasma rifle bikes and devastators kill of the remainder of the bikes and with his chapter master left alone, the sole remaining grav cannon centurion lines him up for 4 wounds and finishes him off. The librarian hallucinates the devastators on his home objective and they hit themselves, causing a casualty or two. The libby and his squad then shoot and charge the last IF tactical squad. The TFC fires a barrage centered on the DA libby and peels off another 2 or 3 models from the devastators.
Turn Four
His centurions and devastators shoot my plasma bikes down to one survivor plus the chapter master. His last IF tactical squad is destroyed in hand to hand and my bikes consolidate towards his home objective.
My shooting attrites his centurions a little and drops his objective holding devastators down to 2 plus the DA librarian. My librarian and grav bikers assault that squad and kill them off, consolidating on to his deployment zone objective. My chapter master assaults and destroys his last five man squad. He now has only two scoring units (the centurions and one devastator squad) and only one is within reach of an objective.
Turn Five
His centurions move up to the far left objective and shoot my chapter master to death.
I pour my surviving firepower into his centurions to reduce them down to a wounded sergeant and then assault him with my last attack bike to contest the objective he is standing on.
We roll and the game ends.
Final Score
Void Eagles: 15 (4 objectives, Slay the Warlord, Line Breaker, First Blood)
Imperial Fists: 1 (Slay the Warlord)

Round Three
Opponent: Eugene’s Necrons
His List:
Imotekh
Harbinger of Despair w/ Veil of Darkness
Harbinger of Destruction w/ Solar Pulse
10 Warriors w/ Ghost Ark
10 Warriors w/ Ghost Ark
10 Warriors w/ Ghost Ark
5 Immortals
6 Canoptek Wraiths
6 Canoptek Acanthrites (FW unit with T5, 3W, Stealth, a S6 meltagun, and entropic strike but thankfully no ++ save)
Annihilation Barge
Annihilation Barge
Annihilation Barge
Terrain:
Essentially no blocking terrain except one ruin in the center.
Mission: Purge the Alien w/ Vanguard Strike deployment
Warlord Traits: I generated Storm of Fire. I forget what Eugene rolled but it had no effect on the game.
Physic Powers: Librarian rolled up Invisibility and Mental Fortitude.
Deployment: Eugene won the roll and chose to go first. He deployed his three Ghost Arks along the edge of his deployment zone with the annihilation barges behind them and the wraiths on the far left. The immortals and Imotekh and his court went into some 4+ area ruins in the back of his deployment zone.
I responded by clustering my entire army in the back corner of my deployment zone around a hill about 32 inches away, forcing him to take snap shots next turn if he wanted to hit me. The Razorbacks went to the right of the hill with the attack bikes. Everything else went on top of the hill except for the TFC and the devastator sergeant who went out of LOS behind the hill. I tried to seize and failed.
Turn One
The Necrons advance. Shooting kills one or two bikes but does nothing else. Imotekh’s lightning hits a few units but fails to kill anything.
Limited movement for the marines. Librarian casts invisibility on the lead bike squad with the chapter master. The attack bikes move up aggressively to try and kill the closest annihilation barge and both Razorbacks move to get inside 36 of their spotlight targets. One Razorback targets the FW Acanthrites with a lascannon snapshot and misses but illuminates them. I use Storm of Fire on the chapter master’s squad and then drop his now twin-linked orbital bombardment where it hits 4 Acanthrites and 2 Wraiths. Both wraiths pass their 3++ but all 4 Acanthrites are killed, essentially neutering that very tough squad. My attack bikes wiff like champs, missing all three shots on the AB and the remainder of the shooting is ineffective.
Turn Two
The Ghost Arks and ABs continue their advance. The attack bikes are gunned down by massed fire, giving Eugene First Blood. The rest of his shooting bounces off the 2+ cover save bikers.
The bikes move forward aggressively seize a chance to destroy as many Arks as possible in one turn. A tactical squad meltagunner kills one Ghost Ark and another sustains 9 HP of damage from the grav centurions, wrecking it. The lascannon storm talon flies in off the far left, lines up a shot on the rear of an AB and…nothing! Didn’t even force a cover save. Whoops. The TFC scatters off a newly disembarked warrior squad. Bolter fire from the bike squads plus assorted missile launcher and lascannon fire attrites the wraiths down to 3.
Turn Three
The surviving wraiths move up to charge my plasma gun bikes and chapter master. Two ABs combine to kill the newly arrived Storm Talon and the last AB kills a Razorback. The lone surviving ghost ark rapid fires into the invisible bikers but fails to kill any. The wraiths charge and the WS1 from invisibility results in a lot of misses. The wraiths kill one or two bikes and put a wound on the Chaptermaster. The bikes and chapter master kill two wraiths, then hit and run out of combat.
The last talon arrives and lines up on the surviving wraith. The chapter master and squad move up on the two surviving Acanthrites. The libby and the other bike squad line up on the warriors from one of the wrecked arks. Fire from the centurions, TFC, and devastators kill off one of the warrior squads and shooting from the plasma bikes kills one of the two Acanthrites. The last wraith dies to shooting as well. I then launch a disrupted charge, with the plasma bikes hitting the Acanthrite and the disembarked warriors and the libby’s bike squad hitting the same warrior squad. After a flurry of attacks, the Acanthrites dies at I1 to the CM’s thunder hammer (after slipping a wound through and destroying my artificer armor) and the warriors end up losing combat by 5 and getting swept down. The libby’s bike squad hides behind the ghost ark wreckage, leaving the CM and his boys to face the brunt of the surviving firepower.
Turn Four
Night fight finally ends. Shooting from three ABs, a Ghost Ark, and the Immortals kills all of my plasma bikers and leaves the chapter master with only one wound.
Eugene smartly uses his solar pulse to make me fight one final turn at night. The libby makes his squad invisible and the essentially untouched grav bikers move up to keep up the pressure. The chapter master joins the last bike squad as well. The centurions wreck the final ghost ark and the TFC, devastators and storm talon reduce the squad down to 5. The bikes launch a disrupted charge on two of the ABs, wrecking one with krak grenades and one with the CM’s thunder hammer.
Turn Five
The last AB, the immortals, Imotekh’s court and the 5 surviving warriors pour everything into the invisible bikes and fail to kill a single model.
The bikes move up. I forget to detach the chapter master and shooting kills all the immortals, leaving me with nothing to assault the last AB. The centurions kill the last five warriors and the storm talon knocks down a cryptek who stands right back up.
We roll and the game continues.
Turn Six
Everything goes into the bikes, who again escape unscathed thanks to invisibility.
The grav bikers drive to 17” away from Imotekh. Shooting from the bikes and the storm talon kill one of the two crypteks and put a wound on Imotekh. The chapter master detaches and kills the last AB with his thunder hammer.
We roll and the game ends.
Final Score
Void Eagles: 13 (12 KP, Line Breaker)
Necrons: 5 (4 KP, First Blood)

10 Warriors w/ Night Scythe
6 Canoptek Wraiths

6 Canoptek Wraiths
Annihilation Barge
Annihilation Barge
Annihilation Barge
Terrain:
One big LOS blocking hill in the center and area terrain scattered throughout.
Mission: The Scouring with Dawn of War Deployment. One objective ended up on the center hill and the remainder were spread over the board (2 in each deployment zone). Stephen ended up with a 3 pointer and a 1 pointer in his zone and I got both 2 pointers in mine. The 4 pointer ended up being the one on the center hill and the last three pointer was on the far left in no man’s land.
Warlord Traits: I generated the Furious Charge for a turn one, Stephen got Legendary Fighter.
Physic Powers: Librarian rolled up Hallucination and Mental Fortitude.
Deployment: Stephen won the roll and chose to go first. He deployed very symmetrically. On the right, he had a Lord and 6 wraiths. In the center was 6 more wraiths, an Ark and an AB. On the right (by the two three pointers and able to influence the four pointer) was the last Ark, two ABs, 6 Wraiths and his Warlord. All wraith units were scoring this scenario, so he was in a good position relative to the objectives. The night scythe was his only reserve.
I stacked everything into the right flank, over 30” away from all his arks and ABs so that he could only snap shoot me turn one. Night fight was in play turn one.
Turn One
The Necron right flank moves up. The Destroyer Lord and Wraiths advance straight at me and then run in the shooting phase, putting them just past the centerline. The AB moves 12” along with the ghost ark from the center to provide mobile cover for the second squad of wraiths without the Lord attached. The left flank moves straight towards my deployment zone and the center hill. All shooting misses or is saved and he causes no casualties.
The librarian hallucinates the wraith squad with the lord on the right and causes them to hit themselves, killing one wraith. Both bike squads move straight at the wraiths with lord and stop about 3-4” away (I was not quite at my own deployment zone edge). The centurions shuffle to get a better LOS to all targets on the right flank. The attack bikes move to get within 12” of the left flank barge and one tactical squad disembarks to get its meltagun with 6” of both the ghost ark and the AB.
The shooting phase is simply terrific. The MM bikes kill the AB, the tactical squad kills the ghost ark. Shooting from both bike squads and the devastators puts one wound on the Lord and kills the squad down to 3 wraiths, one of which is wounded. The centurions reach out to the wraith squad without a lord and kill 3 wraiths.
Both bike squads then assault the destroyer lord and his surviving wraiths. I pass the MSS test and he challenges me. I accepted with a bike sergeant who promptly gets smacked down. Hammer of Wrath attacks kill two wraiths and the last one wiffs before being smacked into oblivion by the chapter master’s thunder hammer. He losses combat by a lot, the destroyer lord breaks and is swept down. He would fail his everliving roll.
In an epic first turn, I killed 9 wraiths, 1 destroyer lord, 1 ghost ark, and an annihilation barge.
Turn Two
The night scythe came in and Stephen tried to regain the initiative. He focuses his shooting from warriors and night scythe on my chapter master’s squad, killing one or two bikes. The three surviving wraiths assault them, losing one to twin-linked bolter overwatch and only killing one bike on a rend before meeting thunder hammer death. The AB’s shooting goes into the centurions, who take one wound. His last lord and wraiths hide behind the hill, trying to set up a turn three assault.
My skyhammer talon arrives and moves on from the far right corner to help with the shooting. The attack bikes kill one annihilation barge, the centurions wreck the last ghost ark, and the storm talon kills his night scythe. The last annihilation barge is destroyed by a lascannon shot from one of the razorbacks. The librarians bike squad shoots and subsequently assaults the warrior squad from the first ghost ark, destroying them and consolidating out of the 24” threat range of the wraiths. The warriors who had disembarked from the night scythe are attrited by the TFC. The chapter master sticks his orbital bombardment on the last wraith squad who clumped up, killing four outright after poor invulnerable saves.
Turn Three
One warrior squad scampers up the four point objective, the last two wraiths and the lord run for a 3 point objective and the warriors out of the night scythe try to fall back and hold the other three point objective. Shooting does nothing.
Both bike squads shoot and assault the night scythe warriors, killing all of them. Lascannons pick off a wraith, leaving just one with the lord. The centurions cause 23 wounds on the warriors on the 4 point objective, who go to ground for 2+ cover (4+ ruined wall and area hill) and only lose one before the TFC fires his ignore cover shell and kills 6 in a spot on barrage.
Stephen concedes at this point, because even though he is holding 7 points of objectives to my 5, he only has a lord, one wraith and 3 warriors left and I have two turns left to finish him off and take more objectives.
Automatically Appended Next Post: @jy2 Thank you. It was an interesting tournament meta. I saw lots of Chaos (Demons and Marines), Necrons, and at least three Tyranid players. I remember seeing only one Tau player (a guy from my gaming group) and one Eldar/Dark Eldar army. Lots of Marine players so I think everyone was trying new toys this time out.
@Red Corsair Thanks

Congrats again on the victory, well deserved. As a fellow marine biker player it was good to see them do so well.
AS far as the meta I think it reflected Dallas pretty strongly. Dallas for some reason doesn't have very many Tau players. The guys who play Eldar didn't come to WACON, and we have always had a lot of MEQ, CSM and Necrons. I was a bit surprise to see 3 tyranid players (I played 2 of them) which was a fun change of pace. I was also a bit surprised there was only 1 pure daemon Player

Would love to see some more battle reports with this list.
Seems to have done very well against the necrons which is great.
I wonder if more night scythes would give it trouble but considering you have AA probably not.
Would also love to see this list v.s. some of the eldar/tau/ and deamon lists that are considered strong.

Mission: Crusade, 3 Objectives with Hammer & Anvil deployment. He got the extra objective to place. He put the first in an area ruin, I put the second on the center hill and then he put the third in the other area ruin. Each deployment zone now had one objective and the odd one was in the center of the board to fight over.
Warlord Traits: My warlord and his unit cause fear, Coteaz got Princeps of Deceit.
Physic Powers: Librarian rolled invisibility and hallucinations. Coteaz got Prescience and Perfect Timing.
Deployment: James won the roll to go first and deployed everything along the 24 inch line to put maximum lascannon and autocannon coverage into my deployment zone. Two chimeras were on his right, then all three dreadnoughts, followed by the last four chimeras. Coteaz was in the center of the line inside one of the Chimeras.
I clustered my army into the 3+ cover and tried to seize. I failed and James began turn one.
Turn One
James moves on chimera 12” towards the left most ruin and in shooting moves flatout to finish flanking the ruin, putting one squad in a position to threaten the center objective late in the game and still pour lascannon fire into my flank. Nothing else moves. Coteaz’s reroll to hit, ignore cover lascannon squad kills a centurion and a half. Two other squads shoot my centurions, forcing me to go to ground to keep them alive. His right most chimeras kill a Razorback for First Blood and catch a bike in the explosion. His dreadnoughts have an abysmal round, rolling ten 1’s or 2’s for armor penetration on my last Razorback.
The librarian makes his squad invisible and they move towards the center hill, turboboosting in the shooting phase to get almost entirely out of line of sight from the majority of his shooting. The attack bikes move up and take a weapon off a right flank chimera. The chapter master is able to place the orbital bombardment where it hits three chimeras (including both with inquisitors in them), exploding two of them and taking a weapon off Coteaz’s. The TFC kills one of the Jokaero squads out of the exploded chimera and the devastators shake Coteaz chimera.
Turn Two
Coteaz’s chimera backs up a little and the reroll hits, ignore cover lascannons snap shoot and kill the TFC. The three dreads fire up the centurions, killing all but one. The Jokaero squad with Inquisitor who lost their chimera start running towards his homefield objective in the area ruins but between difficult terrain and a run roll only move 4”. Shooting on the right kills a couple of bikes from the chapter master’s squad.
The attack bikes move up and wiff on a chimera (1 hit, 3 for armor penetration. The chapter master’s squad chooses to not assault the unopened chimeras on the right (5d3 heavy flamer overwatch each) and instead turbo boosts for 3+ cover. The librarians squad comes over the hill, shoots and assaults the inquisitor and Jokaeros headed for the back objective, killing them all. Both talons come on. The lascannon talon shots the far left chimera, exploding it and killing 4 of the 5 passengers in the explosion. The skyhammer talon strips the last hullpoints of Coteaz’s ride and shakes it in the process. One razorback starts moving towards the center objective at full speed while the tactical squad from the destroyed razorback babysits my home field objective.
Turn Three
Snapshooting from Coteaz kills one of the bikes in the librarians squads. The dreadnoughts shoot the last centurion but fail to kill him. The right flank chimeras fail to kill an attack bike.
The librarian and the grav bikes move up against Coteaz. Coteaz tanks all the shooting, but in assault the heroic inquisitor wiffs on my sergeant in the challenge and I kill all the Jokaero’s. Coteaz passes morale. My chapter master assaults a dreadnought but only stuns it. The attack bikes wreck one chimera and assault the survivors, killing two and forcing the last monkey to run away after failing to sweep him. The plasma bikes (now minus commander) kill the final chimera and loss the lead biker to overwatch from the sole survivor and then fail the 4” charge.
Turn Four
The lone survivor from the attack bike combat keeps running. The last survivor on the far left shoots my centurion but misses. The lone survivor on the far left flames the attack bikes and kills one but they pass morale. Coteaz kills my sergeant in the challenge, I pass morale and hit & run out of combat. The dreadnoughts dog pile on my chapter master and kill him.
The centurion moves into grav cannon range of Coteaz and puts 2 wounds on him, allowing the grav rifles from the librarians squad to finish him off. The two surviving attack bikes kill the first dreadnought, the second dreadnought is killed by devastators stripping his last two hullpoints off him and the final dreadnought dies to lascannon fire from the storm talon. My opponent concedes at this point, as I have troops on all three objectives and he has only three Jokaero’s left on the table (one of which is fleeing).

Thanks. I haven't played in Dallas since Railhead Rumble but that lines up with my experiences there. Demons are hit and miss at the Austin area tournaments. Some months have tons of demons, others have barely any.

Seems to have done very well against the necrons which is great.
I wonder if more night scythes would give it trouble but considering you have AA probably not.
Would also love to see this list v.s. some of the eldar/tau/ and deamon lists that are considered strong.
I'm going to work on doing a few more using this list (with pictures next time---I get distracted in a tournament setting). I think it matches up well against Eldar because I have speed to keep pace with them. Tau could give me alot of trouble depending on the terrain and skill level of the player. MC heavy lists I've been pretty consistent against. I have enough twin-linked firepower to ground flyers consistently and the centurions are monster killers. The smattering of missiles and lascannons also helps chip off wounds.

@jy2 Yup. I think the speed in my list caught alot of people by surprise this tournament. It'll be interesting to see how people adjust once the Marine codex has been out a little longer.

Marines are proving to be better than I had thought. Right now, a lot of people still don't know the new Marines yet. The true test will be when they go up against good Tau and/or Eldar players like in Nova or Adepticon.

Couple of things, in round 2 you pinned his Chapter MAster + Bike squad with Hallunication, unfortunately Bikes can't be pinned, pretty game-changing mistake there
Also wanted to double check that you weren't moving you Chapter Master + firing the orbital Bomardment (I believe Ordance takes precendence over Relentless).
Otherwise good job with the games/reports, any photos?

Hallucination doesn't actually "pin" you. What it does is to not allow you to move, shoot or fight in assault for 1 whole game turn. That's much, much worse than being "pinned". That's what makes this 2-warp charge power so nasty.

Why can't bikes be pinned? I've been looking for this but haven't found it. It usually comes up in my games against Tyranids and a gazillion devourer shots from Flyrants.
We played that Relentless trumps Ordnance. Ordnance can't be snap fired. Relentless lets you shot as if you were stationary. That is the common consensus down here.

BRB bikes can't be pinned/go to ground. With relentless vs. ordance I'd argue the other way round (to my detriment because I also like a CM on a bike).

Wrong I'm afraid JY2, from the psychic cards on a 1-2 "The unit is automatically pinned, unless it would normally pass Pinning tests or is locked in close combat, in which case there is no effect", 3-4 is the one that is better than pinned. I personally don't rate hallucination very highly as it requires very specific targets to ensure it works, something that isn't fearless, on a bike, etc and has decent CC stuff but poor CC defense. Though I will admit it could be awesome, though I feel it won't be more often than not.

@captainjay where are you seeing that? I just checked the entry for bikes, relentless and go to ground and it has nothing that says bikes can't be pinned

Bottom of page 45 in the "shooting" area of the bikes description.

I think the second entry for Hallucination is the one Jy2 is referring to.
3-4: The unit cannot shoot, run, declare charges or strike blows in close combat.
I really like Hallucinate as a power - it does require the right target but it can be devastating in a lot of cases. Nothing like a Dreadknight Force Weaponing itself to death.
