That's certainly one way to interpret it.
What I got from reading that clause was that PP are saying that just because you painted your entry yellow, that doesn't stop PP from releasing a picture of the same model painted a similar colour. Not that they are specifically looking to pillage other people's ideas, but just that they don't want to allow the submission of ideas to get in the way of their own design process.
It's exactly the same reasoning that prompts many companies (including GW, based on some previous statements from the studio) and authors don't read unsolicited ideas that are sent to them, for fear that the submitter might then later claim that anything similar that winds up in print is based on their idea and they should be paid for it.
True, and that is how I would interpret it normally. But this is Dakka where we have to interpret a company policy in the worst negative and most sinister light. Otherwise how else would we find stuff to post on in the Discussion section?

The worst that has actually been said so far is that it's a little lame for there to not be an actual prize beyond having your photo on the website.
Nobody is hating on it, or making a big deal about it.
For me, the only people who are just complaining for a stupid reason are the people who are complaining that there is an entry fee "because you have to buy the model".
That is the stupid complaint about this contest IMO.
The whole "no prize" thing is valid, but minor IMO.

I dunno... while I don't agree with that argument, I can kind of see the point, in light of the fact that they didn't allow you to enter any model from the new release, but specifically chose the big beastie. It just have the feel of an attempt to sell extras of a model that they thought needed a little extra nudge.

This? This isn't one of them.
We Brits have an expression "to get one's arse in one's hand" which is to object to something purely to get offended by it.
This is a perfect example.
I dunno, I was going to say it was a pretty "half-arsed" effort by GW..
In comparison to what other companies have run, and GW themselves in the past, it gives the absolute bare minimum to the customer.. like seemingly everything else these days, from 1-click 'deals', to a Games Day that offers less to the fan than ever before, this is just another example of that.

6. By submitting an entry, you retain ownership of the rights in your photograph, but give GW the right to use (and adapt as required) your photograph for the purposes of this competition.
I think this might be a beneficial (for us) result of the Chapterhouse suit. GW realiced that no matter how strongly they word it in their internet rules page it's not enough to beat IP laws

Painting Within the Lines

Wow.
If I was buying the model, how cool would it be to have my own paint job advertising the product!
Instead, three pages of predictable pathetic moaning, looking for any angle to bash something by GW. I think I'm done with this place, can anyone suggest a forum not populated by so many butthurt idiots?

Indeed. How dare people not be as excited by that prospect as you are?
Since I asked nicely for people to try not to blow comments out of proportion, and that doesn't seem to have been effective, I think we're done here.
