And with these releases comes...

MOAR PREVIEWS!

http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/Previews

First up we have one of the truly iconic monsters of Dungeons and Dragons, one of those creatures that is made and remade time and again but never gets old. Something that every Dungeon Master is going to want in his cabinet to whip out at the dramatic moment...

I refer of course to the Peryton. With 4 hit dice and +2 to hit with their horns they have laid many a party low.

And yes, I did take my Monster Manual II off the shelf just to make that joke.
Then I put it back because obviously a monster as iconic as the Peryton is in the Monster Manual I.

Reaper also included a more obscure monster

I believe it's called a 'Owl Bear'.

These two can not only serve as some sort of horrid cannibal troll things, they can with a bit of minimal conversion, serve as typical gamers relaxing with cheetos.

This one goes well with them, serving as a water elemental for a fantasy game, or an unending tide of Mountain Dew for gamers.

Over several years Reaper has put out a Nativity set, this year they add a donkey. he can also serve as Bill the Pony in your off-brand LotR Games.

Who'm I kidding.

No one plays Lord of the Rings.

My favorite models are those that tell a story, like this guy.

Why doesn't his sword have a hilt? Why? Is he just holding the blade for some odd reason? Doesn't that hurt?

We may never know.

Similarly this character raises so many questions like how the heck does he draw that sword? And why does he have the BP logo on his chest?

Or this one. What is up with her hat? Is she juggling? And is she some sort of orc?
So many questions...

From time to time Reaper is criticized for the skimpy costumes their sculptors put female characters in.

So I guess this is fair play?

I find his low rise pants and bare midriff strangely alluring. I can't look away.

And then there's this guy wearing nothing but a leather apron and sweat.

here we see a Arcanamirim sorceress using the incredible powers at her command to uh... add some pretty flowers to her staff.

No real joke here. I just want to point out GW has been making Orcs riding boars for 20, 30 years now, and not one of them look as good as this model.

Finally we have these guys from the Deadlands Noir line

I'd make a joke but something's wrong with my monitor, he's only showing up in black and white.

Here we have Grifter, apparently in his previously unseen New 52 costume.

The Occult Detective model can be used for so many other things besides such as a Mystic Investigator, an Eldritch Private Eye or even a Paranormal Gumshoe. The possibilities are limited only by your imagination.

Y'know when Reaper promised a model with Marti Gras beads... this really is not what I was expecting.

And we finish with a Femme Fatal who can also be used for a Dangerous Doll, a Lethal Lady or a Risky Wench. Bravo to Reaper for putting out a model with so, so many uses!

Those are some pretty good looking figures.

Are they going to be available is the boxed set, such as the Cowboys, or Heros ones were?

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

As I look at him, his body and arms are pretty proportionate for a lightly built guy. He just has bulky shoulderpad/glove combo on the right. The real problem is he has a bit of a bobble head thing going on... That face is freakishly large. Try using your thumb to cover his face and look at the body...

Another month and MOAR PREVIEWS!

Yay!

I am very disturbed by this figure, supposedly of an Elf Wizard. No boob window? No exposed midriff? No scandously short skirt?

Is this the Reaper I have known and loved all these years?

Guys what happened?

I retract my earlier comments.

It's even funnier because both of these are winners of the design your own mini promotion!

This is another cool one from the same promotion. Sensible looking armor, sensible looking helmet, maybe a few too many weapons, but overall a really solid female warrior.

And this one. Y'know 3 out of 4 are fully clothed, maybe there is a market for sensibly dressed female characters?

But... what exactly is she holding? Is that some guy's spine? Cause that would be totally hardcore.

The more I look at this guy the more I ask... what's up wtih his face? I mean really? Is that a bandana mask or something? And is he missing part of his right hip?

And what does all of this have to do with air piracy?

It just raises so many questions.

And finally we have a Blood Nebula Mercenary. Aren't nebulas like light years across? How much blood would it take to make a nebula of blood? A lot right? I mean even Khorne would be all like "that's an excessive amount of blood". And then he'd kill you. And drink the blood nebula.

So this guy has his work cut out for him.

I really want this model. It'd be perfect for Dr. Noir (supernatural sleuth).

So is the Bikini mage coincidentally half ape, or was "Butterface" a specific design element of the Design Your Own Mini contest? I like the sensibly clothed mage. Dungeons are full of caustic sprays and deadly things which catch hold of loose clothing. I can't remember who came up with it, but essentially you should be dressed for running through a briar patch and cooking greasy bacon. Aside from the cape (Incredibles had it right. no CAPES!), she passes.

I would have guessesd clipping coupons for magical supplies-- eye of newt, wart of witch, etc... but your suggestion is good too.

Errol Otus was the worst artist TSR had. Looks like he was having fun with the zip-a-tone though , in that final picture. Lol.

These Reaper releases are not the P-65 stuff though. September, that is when it is coming? I'm curious about it.

It's been a little while but there's some good news!

Reaper is apparently doing the minis for a new game called Numenera

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Numenera

a science fantasy game set not 20,000 years, not 40,000 years, not 600,000 years, but ONE @#$%ing BILLION YEARS FROM NOW!

Take that you pansy waisted science fantasy games!

And what do they look like?

http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/Previews

OK generic beast man guy, competent but mind not exactly blown here

Mutant alien dude, again fine enough, but not really making me reach me for my wallet

Mysterious cloak dude, that's a plus, love me some mysterious cloak dudes.

A guy, with 2 swords... not looking good here

Ooo, glowy hand dude, it's probably more the paint job that sells it but he's a winner.

Hey it's Rogue from the X-men!

A sensibly dressed female? no boob window? no spandex? no scandelously short skirt? no fetish bondage gear? Is this really a science fiction game?

And finally a robed Arabic dude wielding a weaponized sea shell. He's actually a taker for me just to add to my Tallarn army.

So I see potential here, and a few figs I might buy, but I'm not in love yet.

And finally 2 others from their other lines

An Armadillion, in fact Skraw the Last, Armadillion. So those of you whose Gamma World campaigns have been on hold for lack of a good mutant cyborg armadillo warrior your prayers are answered. He also works for After the Bomb and Palladium's Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtle game! So they should sell as many as three of these!

And last but not least

A toad demon!
He can also serve as a frog demon with a bit of green stuff work.
The possibilities are limited only by your imagination!

Man, Numenera has such possibilities, they kind of missed the boat there.

You would think that in a billion years time, swords would be pretty useless! Those models are pretty uninspiring though. Love the toad demon though!
