Welcome to the TABLEWAR™ Kickstarter! We need your help to create a smaller display, storage, & transport case for your hobby miniatures. Specifically, we are taking our existing modular design and scaling it down to a size that is not only convenient for both painters & smaller skirmish style gaming systems but, also, makes carrying your miniatures onto an airplane convenient and safe. If you are familiar with our patented Modular Display, Storage, & Transport system (look for existing products at our website www.tablewar.com), then you know how our large number of innovative unit trays fit into our Display Boards which then slide securely into the specially designed case railings. To meet the size requirements for this new design, two new plastic injection molds are required and a third would be really nice to have:
1. A smaller Railing design (fewer rails: 7 rather than 12) Mini-Case Railing Mold for the 1st Funding GoalMini-Case Railing Mold for the 1st Funding Goal
2. A smaller (width) Display Board Mini-Case Display Board Mold for 1st Funding GoalMini-Case Display Board Mold for 1st Funding Goal
and 3. A new wider Unit Tray option (a “double-wide”) Double-Wide Unit Tray for 2nd Funding GoalDouble-Wide Unit Tray for 2nd Funding Goal
While we have been working on this for some time, it is the costs of the plastic injection molds and the minimum production volumes that we need your help with… Meeting our funding goals ensures that we have the volumes necessary to bring this new product to you at a reasonable cost.
We have been creating our products for the past three years. The new designs are 90% completed, our existing manufacturers (plastics and cases) are lined up; we just need you to make this project successful. Funding in November, allows us to bring these products to you in February. We will expedite if we see the project funded more quickly.
CURRENTLY FUNDING: Mini Display Tower Case + Mini Railing Mold + Mini Display Board Mold @ $15,000
The Mini Display Tower Case is made possible by two new plastic injection molds... The Mini Railing injection Mold (with 7 railing slots) will allow us shrink the height of the case; still providing the interlocking railing / display board system in a size that will enable a case height that will easily fit into tight places (...like an airplane overhead compartment or, even, under an airline seat). The Mini Display Board injection Mold allows us to shrink the width of our standard Display Tower Cases but retains a standard size making current TABLEWAR™ accessories usable. And, again, both of these are essential to enable the new, mini case to fit into all of those smaller places you might want to be putting your case during display, storage, or transport.
It is, most simply, a smaller version of our patented Display Tower with modular Display Board & Unit Tray design. It will be of the same material and basic design as our current MKII cases. You can configure what you insert into the TABLWAR™ Display Tower in any number of ever changing combinations; add or remove additional Display Boards, swap out different Unit Trays… all to match the every changing configuration of your hobby miniature collection, army, or painting project. The new railing will have 7 slots vs the 12 of our current half-size Tower case or 24 of our current full-size Tower case. The case will come standard with one drawer and two mini Display Boards. To get a better feel for how the modular system works, check out this video of Warboss Dugg’s “ringer” Ork army in a Red Full-size MKI Tower Case.

Funding Levels
Spoiler:
$15,000 - Base Funding to enable the Mini Display Tower Case
The Mini Display Tower Case is made possible by two new molds... the Mini Railing Mold (with 7 railing slots) will allow us shrink the height of the case; still providing the interlocking railing / display board system in a size that will enable a case height that will easily fit into tight places (...like an airplane overhead compartment or, even, under an airline seat). The Mini Display Board Mold allows us to shrink the width of our standard Display Tower Cases but retains a standard size making current TABLEWAR™ accessories usable (again, this will enable the new case to fit into all of those smaller places you might want to be putting your case during display, storage, or transport).
$20,000 - Double-Wide Unit Tray
With the new display board able to hold two unit trays, why not make a double-wide unit tray that fills the entire display board? This funding level provides us with the funds to create this additional injection mold and begin production. This tray will include a Tin sheet for miniatures to be magnitized to. Existing standard configuration Unit Tray tops will fit into this tray in pairs as well as our Diorama Washers as an alternative option. For the Bounus Unlock, this will only be the Bottom Unit Tray version of the Double-wide with the Tin Sheet. This tray will also fit into the existing 3-wide Display boards for our current cases (along with another single Unit Tray); perfect for a larger squad of miniatures. IF this level is funded, backers will have the option to "trade" 2 Single-wide unit trays for each Double-Wide that they would like.
$25,000 – New Unit Tray configurations (12 x 30mm & 6 x 40mm)
We have had a ton of request for new standard Unit Tray configurations in what we call the PP sizes for 30, 40, & 50mm bases. While the Diorama Washers can be used, funding this level would allow for an additional injection mold for two sizes of PP sized bases: a tray for 12 30mm PP sized bases AND a tray for 6 40mm PP sized bases.
$??,000 - More new products...if we reach $25,000, we will add more details about what these are! But, feel free to make suggestions now!

There should be some specs on the KS page or I'll try and dig some up tomorrow.

It looks like a marvellous product, but the shipping really is what is killing it for me. It isn't your fault - shipping out of the States has been murderous for the past couple of years, which is a real shame.

Yeah, shipping has been pretty bad. Sorry.

This is exactly it. I use one so that I don't have to put my models in foam anymore. So much easier and so much less breakage.

I had a full-size one, and as a rather small guy I found it too heavy and large to use on a regular basis. So, a mini one is a fantastic idea . That size looks ideal for something like Warmachine or the like, where less models are needed and a smaller case is preferable.

Magnets. The trays have a layer of tin on them. You put magnets on the bases of your minis. Voila!

Why won't it look as nice? Wih some effort, you can get a standard panelled 19" 10u or so "shallow" case to look eveuy bit as nice. Not as conveniently modular would be a point, though. (Although, I've been considering using "sturdier" cd rack slides on the sides to hold shelves; that ought to work like a charm alternatively you could conceivably cut such rails from wood quite nicely, given the right equipment and a little effort. )
One thing though: unless you find a pretty sweet 2nd hand deal on the cases it generally isn't going to be all that much cheaper once all is said and done...

Post over in the KS comments and they probably will.

They mentioned in the comments if you stuff it full of marines (and nothing but marines) you can fit 120 in there. It'll be a tight fit though. This doesn't include banner bearers, or really tall models. Three shelves worth is what you can expect best case scenario.
There is a video on their website that illustrates how the system works. It's pretty cool.

After a bit more investigating, I think I can make a 12u case work quite nicely. Turn it on it's side to have a handle on the top, put in top and bottom sliding rails connected to an internal tiered drawer, allowing it to be pulled in and out. The shelves you can buy for these are far too expensive, easier to rig one out yourself.
Cases are being sold off cheap near where I am (they are clearing out old unsold stock) so I will see how I go. Still really like the look of these though.
a Mini-Case, with the 2 Display boards it comes with can fit 80 Space Marines using 4x of the 20man trays, or 40 Marines on 1 Display board and 5 Rhinos on the second. You could also get a 3rd Display board and 2x more 20man trays and fit 120 Marines. You have to take out the drawer for the 3rd display board though.
Check out the whole kickstarter video. That Modular System part I use the Half case, b/c the Mini Display board are not made yet. The Mini is 7.5" high of inner (workable) space and 2 Unit Trays wide instead of 3 like the half.
As far as Euro shipping it isn't cheap I know, but if you get the Double case deal with a friend you get a little better deal with shipping them together.

I have one of the full size cases, and it EASILY fits 24 crisis suits, a riptide, and my cardboard land raider I use as a dice box (with one of the 4 trays not even installed, this this is just massive). The mini would be perfect for infantry-only type armies, or even marines as the rhino chassis is very short. I haven't had a problem with breakage since I bought the bigger case and it's just amazing.

Yeah, i emailed them about their larger cases a few months ago, the shipping costs were so prohibitive that it would have more than doubled the cost of purchase.
This kickstarter is obviously a lot more reasonable than that, but not by much.
"Using the 2 Display boards that come standard you can fit 80 Standard Marines, 4x the 20man trays. Now if you add another Display board and take out the drawer you can fit 120. That 120 is a tight fit and that is with no banners or the like. With the 80 you would have room for banners and taller models/posing. Inner measurements of usable space is 7.5"high x 11.5" wide x 8.5" deep. I can add a diagram image on the Main page. Hope this helps."

Yeah, they really are great.
Reecius from Frontline has some videos of him reviewing them on Youtube.
No prob! I just got one of your Mark II's a month or two ago and love it. Of course, I haven't used it at an event yet but have been busy magnetizing my dudes and such.

@ Hulksmash - You can fit 80 marines with the 2 displayboards that come standard and use 4x 20man Unit Trays or 40 Marines & 5 Rhinos/Razorbacks. That is with the Drawer in the case still. If you take the Drawer out you can add another displayboard and squeeze in 120 Marines (but no banners)
It's about 7.5" tall inside and you would take off just under 1/3" per Displayboard/Unit Tray so around 6.5" worth of Mini space or you could just have 1 Displayboard on the bottom of the case for 7.25" of usable space.
Keep in mind the Half fits in an Overhead but this Mini will fit under a plane seat.

Thanks for the quick reply Dugg. Not sure the height is right for me unforuntately. This would be something I'd pick up for my drop pod infantry army and it's not quite tall enough to do troops and pods
Though I might still throw down for one just for funsies and support.

Troops and pods might be awkward, although you could easily do all your troops in the case and then a small case foam case for just pods. I'm thinking of doing this with some of my really awkward armies.

@Hulksmash - The Mini has all kinds of uses. As a hobby case, skirmish armies so on. I use my Half as my painting/building case and will most likely do the same with my mini. Using a Display board with some bottom base Trays for the building/holding my in progress Minis and I added an extra drawer for all my paints and tools. I use this set up when I'm going over to a friends or the local game store.
You can fit 3 Pods and 40marines. The Marines would have to be standard size. You could put any Marines with banners and the other taller than normal Marines on the same trays as the Pods.
We would love your support with a pledge and/or spreading the word. We will also give discounts on all the other products we already carry to our pledgers. ;-)
@Overtyrant - You can always find a buddy and get the double deal and split the shipping? That helps a bit. We are working on getting a distributor over in EU now but I can not give you a timeline just yet.
