My local store is starting a journeymen league in November and I've opted to use that as an excuse to start WarmaHordes. The first two weeks will be 15 points using Mangled Metal rules. I've chosen Retribution as my faction and will be taking Lord Arcanist Ossyan, a Phoenix and a Manticore for the first two weeks. The goal is to capitalize on the jack's shooting weapons using his gravity well feat and future sight spell.

How would you expand this list to 25 and later 35 points? The only restriction is my original battle group needs to be in both the 25 and 35 point lists so I'm locked into Ossyan, the Phoenix and Manticore for the duration. There will be a culminating 35 point tournament and I'd like to have a respectable showing in it.

Are you locked into those choices or are those the models you have available? I think there is a character jack that works really well with ossyan that has a really good gun and a bunch of abilities that makes him a nightmare for other jacks/beasts/colossals.

You're thinking of Hypnos. He's slightly cheaper than the Phoenix.

Panzer, those models come out as 12 points. Are you locked to some sort of battlegroup box restrictions or similar?

Its 15 points the first two weeks, warjacks and warcaster only. No named warjacks until week 3. Those are the only models I have ordered so far, but nothing is built yet so I'm still flexible. I really need help on figuring out how to effectively build past the initial two jacks though to get a good 25 and later 35 point list.

It's a longshot but is the journeymen league @ Stronghold Games in Weslaco?

You should probably look at some supporting solos such as sylys or an arcanist and some solo assassin type models like eyriss or the mage hunter assassin. I think the mage hunter strike force would also be very good with him since he has a feat and upkeep to benefit them. The problem I see is this: You are going to lock yourself into using the manticore and phoenix so you really wont be able to take another jack under ossyan when you get to higher points. Can you move the manticore to a jack marshal or does it have to stay in your battlegroup? If you can move it, you could marshal it under a scyir. If you have an arcanist then you will be able to give it a focus point and use it's strength boost or be able to fire off all 3 shots from it's gun once ossyan makes a jack stationary. That would free up taking hypnos under ossyan later on.

I double checked. They just have to stay in the list. So I can move the manticore to a jack marshal and use those solos as you suggested. Thanks for the awesome tip.
