Sanguinor sucks because he's T4 and can't join a unit.

LoS is a luxury you don't always have. Don't count on being able to hide models. Count on having to suck up the damage. That's why Sanguinor sucks. That's also why the Taudar are dominant.

Mephy being T6 completely changes the math of being gunned down by small arms fire.

If you play the game with the amount of terrain the book recommends and suggests it is a common luxury.

There's no guarantee that randomly generated terrain will yield enough coverage, nor is there any guarantee that the terrain available is LoS blocking at any rate. I've played many games with no LoS on the board at all.

Besides if he focuses everything on getting a shot at the sang he will most likely be out of position and open to counter attacks.

Not true at all. It doesn't take that much to bring down a T4 model with 2+/3++, and many lists don't have to leave their porch to do it. Besides at the cost of the Sanguinor, you won't have much to counter with Remember, this is BA.

You Can also hide him behind other models.

Also. He should ALWAYS have a FnP roll

Like a tank? So he's stuck behind a tank? For 275 pts? Because you can't hide him behind infantry effectively.

So now there's also a SP behind the tank with him?

BA tanks are fast you can lead your army w/ 2 preds move 12 and fire normally. So yes. He is behind a tank with 1-2 units of asm

Egad. One of the guys on 11th Company podcast always calls them that and every time he does I want to fast forward until he's done talking, turn off the podcast, or punch a baby. Thankfully, there are no babies nearby when I'm at work and the first two options are always available.

I just got finished converting a blood angel librarian in terminator armor with a storm shield and a force axe. I'm going to put him in a drop pod with a 5 man assault squad with a melta gun and hand flamer. I'm going to give him the epistolary upgrade and fear the darkness and the sanguine sword (str 10 power). I figure he's a prime alpha stiker by chasing a unit off the table and then in future turns he can pretty much take out anything with his force weapon provided he survives long enough to activate it.

Good Ol' Texas

Not a fan of that loadout. Too expensive for a psychic power that might now even do anything.

Also, reconsider using the Hand Flamer. Its trash.

Put Meph in a Rhino for that 24" move and you are looking at a turn 3 charge? Am I missing something??

Well, mainly the fact that a Rhino explodes on turn 1 if your enemy looks at them the wrong way...

Yeah, but you can't focus fire on the Librarian just because he has a cover save. It's the other way around. If he were the only model without a cover save, he could be focused on.

Intresting setup, which however has two minor flaws:
1) the price. That's what, 200 points?
2) two attacks base. I believe there was a codex power which adds D3 attacks/ other stats.
Might be worth looking into...

But you really think he's worth all this trouble? I mean, I've never lost to a list that fields the Sanguinor. Not matter how you slice it, you're paying 275 for a model with crappy attacks.

I think its a very appropriate name. It's a gimmick that doesn't REALLY address the problems of meqs, but attempts to smother them with a fancy new weapon. The Eldar and Tau really don't care about the grav gun, they're going to do what they were going to do anyway. It changes nothing.

Now why would I shoot the Rhino unleashing the beast?

If you must use a rhino, do not put Meph inside, run him behind it and enjoy T2 charge instead.

I am putting him into my themed 'fewest models possible' grey knight list to improve my alpha strike. I'm really just taking him for fear the darkness. I've had success with a power armor version in a squad of sternguard in a pod. Although, prescience might be better in that situation. I did chase a unit of dark reapers with a farseer off the table turn one once.

You could take some of that 'eavy fire off of him by running 2 vindicators, and putting him in a storm raven. Would you rather be hit from 2 S10 AP2 LB or Mephiston? If your going to run a big dumb HQ with majors flaws, you have to run something equally as threatening.

Hmm... For easy First Blood maybe?
With Rhino he does get a solid T3 assault but that will most likely happen with his magicpsykerjumppack as well.

Mephiston is good unit. Would be great if it didn't have too many different counters.
Easily tarpitted, can't handle 2+ armor, Gravy-bikes don't care about his high Touhness, good armour save or his cover (which is never guaranteed).
