I managed to find one in the alpha sector after another twenty odd kills. But yes, I think they're not set to drop past the beta sector (which should be addressed considering people could be playing in multiplayer, though then again, who's using the weak brain extractor to fight high level mobs? ).
^^ I found myself an Ushanka yesterday. ...Good times. Horrible hats in real life, but my video game characters like them for some reason. Now to find a nice plush winter coat.
Oh Darkinnit which mods will work on your server? I haven't looked into them, but I'm wondering if I can run texture altering ones or those that can add new music tracks?
Huh, cool. I found an Agaran village there. I didn't even realise there was other races other than the playable ones. Pity the only drop I got from them was some cosmetic blueprints and a new hat.

They look like Floran, but have mushroom heads. I assumed that they're called Agaran due to their equipment being named that. Automatically Appended Next Post: I'm dumping a load of junk to the left of the home world's spawn point. Look for the chests by the set of turrets. =P

When you teleport down head up the stairs on the left. Go out the door and jump down to the ground. There's a Glitch banner and a wooden area underground filled with chests. Its mostly just tier 1-5 stuff, though I guess there might be something of interest in there. Every spare bit of space in my ship's taken up by chests, but I managed to fill them all up, and so I chucked their contents on the homeworld in case there's anything usable.

As they haven't implemented the last couple of tiers fully once you get to them things become a tad easy. You could grind your way through each tier as one would do previously, or instead just land on the highest tier planet and pick up a few chests. A result I'm toting about a weapon that's way above my current armour tier, and, through quickly mining ores, have unlocked the full crafting tree up to tier 10. Still, due to the lack of content rushing through levels doesn't seem that bad. Meh, beta. =P
I'll chuck some more crap into those homeworld chests at some point. If anyone of a lower tier wants better weapons/armour have a look at some point. Oh, and the unlocks for the later tiers don't disappear from your inventory when used, so if anyone wants them ask me when I'm online.

I have no idea But I'd imagine client-side stuff like textures would work fine. Not sure about music, I guess the worst case would be that other players wouldn't hear it, try it and see.

Ah, I've also found that the current servers have no protection to prevent players from editing their characters in single player then porting them to multiplayer. I've heard that some servers are mod protected (presumably disallowing edited player files), but the majority seem to overlook this. I say that as I've found that certain servers reset your star map whenever they reset, and as a result I've stockpiled a load of the upgrades for this instance. Still, I can imagine that any serious exploits aren't going to occur on the Dakka server.
I'll pop on the server tonight and see what exactly I can and can't do through the very simple Creative Mod. That is to say that I won't be editing any character files, just seeing if I may zoom about in a car or something. No, I'm not intending to spawn a million tier 10 armour suits, just trouble shooting. That is, with Darkinnit's permission of course.
Oh, and I'm referring to the client side music, not the playable stuff that's emitted from instruments. I've found that some tracks, depending on the instrument, create a large amount of lag for some reason, so I'd hazard against playing too much custom music.

They're working on a method to lock a specific character to that server only. Also, form the number of threads, I'd say that they've noticed the bugs in the optical wiring system and hopefully will work on them.

Yeah, that's the only way I can imagine the issue being solved. Though that would of course lead to problems like only being able to play on one server. Rather if a player's inventory/ship was stored on a server level rather than by the client, ie like minecraft, the problem could be avoided. At the moment however people are ever so flippant about modding in items, but alas hardly inventive.

Not really, you don't really have a limit of the number of chracters you can create that I can see. I've made more than a dozen thus far, if there's a limit I haven't reached it.

Yes, but its the problem that you'd need to unlock everything anew with each character, and so, unless people want to put an effort it, you'd be limited to playing on a single server.

From my perspective, I fail to see the problem.

Well the Dakka server doesn't always have other players on it, so if people want to play with others they're a bit limited if they were to just stick to one server.

Speaking of new characters, I wish they'd add in an easier way to delete old ones.

I feel a bit stupid, but ... has anyone had success using the switches from the wiring station? They don't seem to do anything for me. :(
I've noticed that active switches light up in blue on screenshots and videos of other players, but I've tried just about anything and I cannot get them to activate in any way.
For example, as far as I understood, an unwired NOT switch should put out a constant "1" because it receives no input, thus converting a 0 into a 1. However, when I wire it to any device, such as an alarm or a bulb for testing, the pulse just doesn't trigger.
Did I miss anything? Do the switches require anything else to work?

Wiring is currently bugged, it forgets optical wires that cross chunks right now. I don't know if there's other bugs with wires as well.

Curious, whta villages have people ran in to thus far?
I'm still trying to find a hylotl village, or a human village that isn't a prison or military complex.

I thought that Hylotl cities only spawned under water and, considering that oceans aren't implemented yet, aren't in the game yet? I think I've came across most of them, barring the human one too, though I would note that the wiki isn't listing the mushroom people settlement on their village page for some reason.

Then I suppose that that'll allow for more Youtubers to get involved with the game, and so publicize it more. I think that was TotalBiscuit's main reason for not creating one of his Let's Plays.
