While play testing a tournament list with my Elysians (out of the IG Codex) against a fellow IG player lets just say shinanigans hit the fan very quickly. It was around turn 4 or five and my Vendetta's were tearing it up, I had just Grav Chuted a squad onto an objective in his deployment zone and he had nothing near it to counter it quickly giving me a solid advantage, until his PCS stepped in.

With x4 Grenade Launchers firing he rolled three sixes to hit and then three sixes to glance and I failed EVERY single jink save. It gets worse, because it was zooming it scattered and crashed...right into the squad of veterans that were holding his objective killing all but two who failed their morale check and wiping out everyone in the Vendetta giving him what he needed to win...all because of x3 Grenade Launchers!

Last week

Hmm I typed a whole lot more than that but it didn't post for some reason....

Basically, Swarmlord charged the pair of war walkers, took a wound to overwatch, which put him down to his last. He then failed to kill both walkers, only killing the one. The surviving war walker then killed him.

5th edition list, my DP and CL are wreaking havoc on a bunch of GKs. I was finally going to break the imperial scum after many bitter defeats.

My Defiler shoots his battle cannon, it scatters the maximum distance to kill both of my HQs. GK rally ftw.

I once had a Leman Russ Demolisher take a short range shot and scatter back so bad it hit itself dead center, exploded, and had a blast range big enough to wound, and then wipe out my HW command squad that had been hiding behind.

Not one of my better days.

Unit of 6 termagaunts shoot at Vect. All hit, all wound.

Vect proceeds to take his shadow field saves: first roll is a 1 shorting it out. Remaining rolls are all 1s as well. Grr.

Unit of 5 incubi with a klaivex assault 3 CSM with a squad leader. It should have been a no brainer.

Squad leader issues a challenge and kills the klaivex. Incubi completely fail to cause a single wound. The CSM kill one more. Incubi don't run. The squad leader then rolled 66 for his boon. The resulting daemon prince slaughters the remainder.

my daemon prince of Tzeentch which rolled corpulance on the greater reward table (+1 wound and IWND) charged two wraith guard with wraithcannons, killing these would have drove them off an objective and won me the game as i moved all my horrors off objectives to deal with an avater and some warp spiders to advance to the next stage in local tournament, but yea from overwatch one hit and wounded so i had my 5++, rolled a 1 and re-rolled a 1 again because of daemon of tzeentch and still failed instant killing my prince because it was str10 so yea i lost the game even though i nearly tabled him. To say i was gonna cry was an understatement.

Last edition ran a Eldar jet bike army.

Had a fully kitted out squad of jetbikes with warlock and Farseer included fire their twin-linked shuriken catapults and the three shuriken cannons at a squad of space marines.

42 twin-linked shots. Not ONE hit. Re-roll. Not ONE hit.

I sold the army the next day....

A recent one:

Tried out Planet Strike and my brand new Deathstrike missile (ran as a Mandicore) I defend, attacker roll for pre-game bombardment, rolled a 6, so ended up with 7 Str9 AP 1 pie plate.

Managed to wipe my HQ (short of the pinned commander) and dropped my Mandicore's hull points to 1 AND having a weapon destroyed, which of course was the Rockets.

I was facing Tyranids and CSM, so I got my mandicore close to a HORDE of those lil' Tyranids ('gaunts of some kind) and let loose the heavy flamer....Killed a single one of them, then got blown to hell come next round.

So a nice 160 heavy flamer that was. It became a running gag in our group.

I'm calling BS. The statistical chance of that occurring is beyond minuscule, to the point that I would call it completely impossible.

Running a game of 5th, my IG against my buddy's DA. He takes a bike/speeder force and I field a gunline with Al'rahMcOutflank.

Turn three Al shows up, chases down some tactical's and murders them. He gets int my gunline and murders my tanks and arty, my remaining troopers waste him. I use Al to run down his HQ speeder (lol), finally get within charge distance but choose to use my last LR to shoot the speeder. Deviation drops the shot right on my Al squad, wipes them out. He flies away, krak's me to death.

I hate speeders.

My CSM EC army vs. my friend's Tyranid Leviathan Hive, 1200 pts per force game. I'd got Warlord traits that granted him and his unit Outflank and the ability to re-roll dice when picking the side of his arrival. I wanted to try this out, so I made him come from the Outflank.

The first turn my army does surprisingly well against the Tyranids, and I basically have him on the ropes despite the size disproportion. Second turn, I fail the roll for my Warlord and his 20 Cultists unit to come. Things start to look dangerous, but I still stand my ground with difficulty. The third turn I manage to pass the test to come, but despite the re-roll when picking the side, I roll the right side both times, which basically spawns my Warlord and his unit nearly 40" from the battle. Suffice to say, the rest of my army is pounded by MCs who destroy both my tanks and slaughter most of the infantry, with only the Noise Marines and the useless Warlord and his unit staying alive by the end.

Whenever there is the slightest risk, I'm bound to fail

My worst ever in one game warpstorm table means loc needs to test or go home 3 6's bye bye then in combat my bloodthirster missing most of his attacks and fails to wound with the rest and getting run down after taking 1 wound from guardsmen, I guess the gods were against me that day.

My Juggerlord also regularly fails - Out of 3 games, he managed to hurt himself twice (1's on plasma pistol and demon weapon).

The last time he got stomped by a tac squad...

My O'vesa star had been punishing a space marine army for 2 turns, and the battle was most certainly in my favour. start of turn 3, a LS storm races out of cover, disembarks the cargo, they shoot, doing nothing, and then assault. only the sergeant survives overwatch, and i challenge with Farsight. i fluff my rolls, and he deals a wound in return. Predictably, i failed my morale check, and the scout sergeant sweeps my unit off the field.

I had a 50 man blob of Guard who were spread right across a 4" table, they were assaulted by 5 lycheguard. After sustaining many wounds they failed their leadership check and the lycheguard rand down ALL OF THEM. follow this up with my LR and Devildogs getting ripped apart by scarabs the only surviving unit on the table was 2 stormtroopers.

In the middle of a Chaos vs Orks vs Space Marines game (it was a 3-way) in 5th ed, I deepstruck Abaddon and ten terminators near to a part of the Ork force I wanted to eradicate.

My shooting did nothing.

The following turn, a battlewagon trundled up to me, and five burna boyz got out.
They fired their flamers, all wounds.

I failed all my saves.

Abaddon and ten terminators died that moment.

I am still haunted by that moment

Playing my SM angainst Tua guy I lost my landraider in one hit on turn 1. Then 3 termies died in the explosion, who then found themselves pinned. By the end if the first turn l had half what l startwd with not making a single save! I then managed to kill one yes one fire warrior in the entire shooting phase. By the end of his next turn I had a captain and one armed dreadnought left. Everything else. Had ran off the table or died.

I just wanted to burn my dice!

Does it have to be 40K table-top? If not, then I got good one:
Playing Only War. Had a Sarge, Specialist and Heavy Gunner. When trying to requisition better lasguns, we somehow managed to get our hands on an Inquisitorial lockbox (oops) with some grav-chutes. We decide, lets have some fun and drop in instead of trudging up the hill. Heavy Gunner fails to deploy, plummets, and breaks his leg. Mission proceeds, Specialist is killed by Orks, Heavy Gunner goes to blow up the Trukk (after all the Orks are dead). Resulting explosion hits the Heavy Gunner, causing all of his heavy bolter ammo and grenades to explode killing him. My Seargeant walked off with a couple of scratches.

I forgot an assault that would have made the difference in the game....remembered it right after the turn ended...the other player made me stick to it (rightly so....considering it was a later round).

It was a squad of kroot in some woods terrain....I wasn't paying enough attention, and didn't see them....

I guess that's why nobody recommends camo for 40k models
