Wow looks like Eldar are dominating the top tables.

Games Workshop: Ruining Chaos Space Marines since 2007

First they raised prices on the Eldar, and I did not speak out because I did not play Eldar.

Then, they raised prices on the Orks, and I did not speak out because I did not play Orks.

Then, they raised prices on the Nids, and I did not speak out because I did not play Nids.

Then, they raised prices on the Marines, and there was nobody to speak out for me.

I would hardly rate that as a "wow". What surprises you?

What's amazing to me is there is a 15 year old in the top 4. He's playing serpent spam but still.

Serpent Spam is almost "push button" win with all the line of sight blocking on the tables. At least a huge advantage.

Are there really any hard counters to serpent spam? I know space marines have a tank that ignores jink but that's about it. Any other ways to deal with 6+ serpents?

If you click on the thing that says army it will rank according to armies.

If I lose it is because I had bad luck, if you win it is because you cheated.

Marine Drop Pod spam with Sternguard meltas for a First Blood near-guarantee.

I have run WaveS spam all summer, doing better at the BAO than I thought I could, 4 & 2 (though only 4 serpents, so is that still spam?). Two different players, with Drop Pod spam, pretty much punched my clock this summer in the 3 games.

Buddy Pods. SW + SoT.

The SoT detachment had 2 units of Grav Cents, a Librarian and two Tac Pods. The SW detachment had Pods for the Cents, a Rune Priest, and I think a couple more Pods with Grey Hunters (but I'm not 100% on that last part).

Shows how much of a non-competitive player I am, I don't even know what SoT stands for.

There's just so many new supplements out that it's hard to keep track, even for someone like me.

I believe SoT is Sentinels of Terra, which is an Imperial Fists supplement.

iPhone cannot see the whole thing due to its small screen and limited resolution.

You need to be on the desktop to do many of the functions.

The young guy was using plasma grenades in assault.

Thomas should have assaulted the warlord with the WK after his WS popped the transport.

Than again, I'm not the one playing the final table.

Congrats to Tony but damn well fought by Thomas (Dorner here on Dakka). Loosing by only one point after getting neither invis nor Fortune. Impressive to say the least - you made us Danes proud over there!

Cool to see someone else who likes Night Spinners. Poor guy not getting Invisibility after 11 rolls was painful to watch. This was definitely a lesson in just how important Invisibility is.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

While it is impressive, I just don't like banking so much on something like that. Especially with the culexus coming out I would not want to build an army that is screwed if it loses powers for one turn.

Well if your going to take a dedicated melee unit in 40k today you need next to invincibility to make it into combat.

Just came from NOVA and I can tell you that the terrain and format heavily favored ob sec, mobility and durability which wave serpents have in spades. The double line of sight blockers with the heavy use of Vanguard Strike and Hammer and Anvil made it especially difficult if you were not running a highly mobile force. I ran a double guard blob and had a terrible time moving my units into firing arcs and trying to engage my enemy.

While no one interested in the health of the game is especially thrilled to see Eldar v. Eldar at the top table , we were spared the tender mercy of Adamantium Lance w/ TripTides v. Adamantium Lance w/TripTides.

There were a metric Asston of Deamons in the 16 of the Open. The majority(8-10) were utilizing Summining to some exten even if they weren't Daemons armies. NOVA's massive and kinda excessive LOS Blocking Terrain made Summoning just so so good and pretty much won some scenarios on its own.

Haley's list rocked me, Fatey, GUO, and Tripple Nurgle Princes. Great Player too. I know I faved lists with Deamon summoning games 4,5,6 on Tables 6,6,6 dy two. I was about done with Summoning by then.

As to Zach, the 15 year old. He's a damned good player and definitely an efficiency player, but my Faraight Enclave proved to be a pretty hard counter to his Serpent Spam Eldar game 8. Also rocked a Serpent, Scatter Walkers, Dual Wraithknights game 3. There weren't many of us Tau player up there, in the upper brackets, some of the "Tau" Primaries were just Triple Riptides Farsight Enclaves with naked suits and an Adamnatine Lance Formation but none made it into the Top 16. Knights were out in full force. Beast stars were still great as we'll.
