I will probably have to pick up the VC scavengers set. I've been wanting the garden of Morris and you get a box of ghouls free. Not bad for GW.

That cracked earth "technical" paint looks rather promising.

I actually like the tempestus firebase since it doesn't have the Buy from GW Mothership only icon. Perhaps my store can get it at a discount.

Came up with a quick chart this morning showing the army collections, their retail price, price of individual models, and the percent of retail value. Some of these included transfer sheets that I could not find a price for so I did not include a price for them, so discounts for some may actually be even better!

Brought the new effects paints today and saw the bag, the bag is over priced rubbish, looks like cheap army surplus.

I think that I'll need to get one of the bundles, probably the Eldar or ghoul one because they look like good deals and I can use everything in them.

Also my way of telling GW that I'll buy anything they sell which has a discounted price...

They're not limited edition- will be standard product line according to my local GW.

Excellent the guy in my local store was trying to get me to buy extras just incase it was limited edition ( without even trying the stuff)

In a sense, they still are limited edition, as GW can decide to stop making them at any time. Just ask all the people who have had their favorite colors and washed discontinued over the years,

Yeah I tend to use vallejo paints myself but these seemed quite nice and mostly useful.

I bought the Tau box. $290 was a little more than I wanted to spend, but thanks to my store's loyalty program I was able to knock another $50 off.

I fething hate the riptide though, both the fact that it's ugly as hell and also an automatic inclusion in every army because of its rules. Anyone got ideas on how to "fix" the model? I've seen pics of a riptide that used an XV89 head from FW that seemed to kinda fix the pinhead problem, but I can't spend $50 on another model just for a head bit and I'm not decapitating the one I already have. No idea what to do about the rest of the flaws.

Chapterhouse do a pack of custom Tau suit heads, they're pretty nice too, might be worth checking out.

As for myself, the Eldar box is... tempting, I'll ask for some opinions in the army list thread

The XV-107 conversion kit is 70 GBP but does fix a lot of the issues you have. Notably it removes the head entirely and replaces that entire bit with a huge slab of armor.

The backpack is pretty terrible, it just looks like it would fall apart randomly with your army case crashing down.

As was mentioned previously, go buy a proper bag from a foam manufacturer.

I bought the bag and it seems pretty good and decent quality is it worth the $130 price tag not really since you can get a bag of equal quality for about half the price easily but since I had the extra cash and thought it was cool so I bought one, the bag it self reminds me of the WW1 packs the British soldiers wore and the two cap badges are cool. I find it useful and have been able to carry my case and paint supplies with no issue but it is really a novelty and that is what you are paying for, if you have the extra cash for it and like it I would say buy it.

The effects paint are worth it especially recommend the Agrellan Earth for basing it is awesome with little effort I have a model that looks like it is on a desert, I have not tried the other paints yet but the Blood one was selling like crazy at my local GW.

Any discount places left to buy these here in the state's?

Great, just great.....here am cuffed to bits with the first decent deal I have had from a GW product in nearly 28 years, and you have to come along and ruin it.....43% off retail retail..... grrrrr

I find the reaction to those bundles surprisingly tame. I mean, the Eldar one gives you two Wraithlords for free. Sure, it's GW prices free, but people wanted discounted stuff from GW for so long I'd imagine we should be seeing people running naked through the streets and making love to random strangers from all that euphoria by now.
