But for the game's sake :
Real fears
1. Being a civilian caught in a war.
2. Having my heels slit.
3. General fears about amputation/paralysis
4. Having the tip of my tongue being repeatedly paper-cutted. Yeah.
Frights
1. Spiders. fething spiders.
2. Horses. fething horses.

Like a mind permanently trapped within itself, free to slip into madness. That's when I get claustrophobic, and also realize I don't have a frame of reference, can't understand not being, and then try to work it out all the more, making me about as big As this wee pixel on your screen right------------->. Here. That's the thing. There's nothing. Your mind isn't there at all. You can't perceive what's there since you are no longer there. And the fact that we all end is, what I feel, the great cosmic horror. If you want to know what not existing is like, consider this: Hours go by between you dreaming and you waking up. It felt like the dream had just ended when you woke up didn't it? That "void" between you stop dreaming and you waking up is pretty much what nonexistence is like.
but is it? in that drifting moment between moments, you do retain your consciousness, you are aware of your environment. The slightest thought slips into a dream-state, the slightest outside input shifts you out "into the waking world", and it's not a perfect constant metastate. Inevitably you will fall into one state or the other, you will either wake, or sleep. The moment I begin to construct a picture of sheer nothingness around me and a complete void of space, I begin to get incredibly claustrophobic, and start to feel my sanity slipping. I start to shut off parts of me, feeling the loss of my limbs, my eyes, my ears, constraining my presence to just a consciousness of thought where time, space, motion, energy.... everything is meaningless, and that's where I I'm afraid to go past. On the one hand it feels like an incredible experiment for experiences' sake, but on the other hand, it feels like there's a Lovecraftian horror on the other side of that gate which can only be unlocked by letting my mind unhinge itself, and in a sense, that fear of the other side, whether it's truly empty or the playground of other things that also sparks fear in me. I'm a pretty rational, grounded person, with a deep appreciation for science and the explanation of the world around us. But cut that away, and fall into the mind..... aaargh!!!!

To glimpse the future, you must look to the past and understand it. Names may change, but human behavior repeats itself. Prophetic insight is nothing more than profound hindsight.
It doesn't matter how bloody far the apple falls from the tree. If the apple fell off of a Granny Smith, that apple is going to grow into a Granny bloody Smith. The only difference is whether that apple grows in the shade of the tree it fell from. |

Well in know how to conquor Dakka
But anyway, my fears are going blind and deaf. I cant imagine being unable to see or hear. Being short sighted is bad enough.
Also, losing limbs. I value myself. The most I could lose is my pinkies.
And MLP. MLP scares the feth outa me.
Failure. I will never fail.
Im not scared of the dark. Infact, I love it. I can actually see very well in the dark, almost as well as in a lit environment. By contrast my eyes are very sensitive to light. Even on cloudy days I have to keep my eyes low or end up with eye ache. I usually have my house unlit when my family is out at night, save the room where I am in. I have a single lamp or two on. Just enough to illuminate my work area.
Im not scared of dead things either. Death is just that, dead.

Spiders. Women. And Spiderwomen. But really, heights. I've done abseiling, rock climbing, rollercoasters (eg the big one in blackpool - 300ft) been in planes, helicopters, on top of cliffs etc... I just hate them. The last time I went on a climbing wall, I got halfway up and went 'You know what? I'm not being chased up this thing, so I'm going to go to the bottom and have a nice sit down. I've proved if it's life or death I could get straight up this with no problem, but as it isn't life or death, I can go have a cup of tea instead.

I'm not crazy about heights, but have no issues with flying (I used to take lessons myself). I think it's not really a fear of heights, but a fear of falling. And sitting in a plane (even a little Cessna 152), you don't feel an obvious risk of falling the way you do standing on a ladder, etc.
I think I got off pretty easy in the phobia department, overall. I'm squeamish about eye injuries. I guess that counts...I've known others who feel similarly, although I've never actually seen a name for it. It's not a paralyzing thing.

I've always been quite afraid of torture and/or a slow death.
Now, however, most of my fears revolve around something bad happening to my kids. When my son was about 1 and a half I had a recurring thought that I might die, but the fear was that he would be too young to have any memory of me.

There was a 2nd Ed Battletech boxset in my local geek sop, but it was sold before i could get it (literaly a few hours before i could)
I now have fears of some 10 yearold getting it and trashing it. Weird i know, but still, i have shivers down my spine from just the thought of the paper tearing.

My major fear and totally irrational fear it is is a hatred of fine powders touching my skin- it makes my skin crawl. Flour, talcum powder and fine sanded beaches can all royally go get fethed. I'm sure I am very comical to watch walking up the beach in bare feet.
My 2nd most major fear is of something happening to my eyes. This is so bad that with my chronic blink reflex it can take them about 15 minutes to do the air blow test at the optometrists - and even though they dont get the best image.
My other fear is horses, I cross the road to avoid the untrustworthy long headed clowns. I like all other forms of grass eating mammals but for some reason I dislike horses immensely.

5. Spiders- worst fear to have here, they are fething everywhere, watching, waiting, ready to- *vomits*
