You don't need to make them look more like " GW" if that's what you mean. Weapon swaps would be the most that you'd need, but even then the eisenkern rifles are fine imo, you'd just want to look at GW or third party plasma/melta/etc. For Eisenkern, you could look at the Eisenkern accessory sprues if you want helmetless heads and other nice options.
That looks good. I think that the Eisenkern are what I would like the best, but how do I model them so they are almost the same size as the GW IG? Does it need to be extremely close, or is almost the same ok? They are apparently taller than IG, plus I would need to get new 25mm bases, but those are cheap.
If I cant do those I will do the British troops. I think that those would look cool without their hats. I could change them up so they have IG hats or something.

I'm going to assume youre new into the hobby.
1.) check the rules of your FLGS/Tournament. If you want to take a non-GW army to GW for play in a GW game... enjoy playing by yourself near the GW's garbage bins. If your FLGS is fine with non-GW models for GW's games so long as WYSIWYG holds true, then, awesome.
2.) Check around with the friends you will be playing with. Some are very... .... ..... "enthusiastic about the authenticity of their HHHobby", and it would be a bad time to dump up to $500 on tanks and infantry and all that junk, just to find out they won't play with you because... ahem.... "you lack the same enthusiasm for the authenticity for the HHHobby".
3.) Once you made your decision, walk in to your FLGS, have a look and see if you can't buy what you need from them. Support your FLGS wherever you can, it's in everyone's interest. They might already have the contacts in place for making any special orders for stuff they don't carry, and might be able to get it in for you with their next shipment. I'd love to pawn my own stuff off on you, but.... I just don't think you are going to be interested in my WGF shocktroops.
As to the scale and size.... that's a different issue. I go with the rule of cool. Does it fit on the appropriate base? is it close to the same height? if so, it's all fine. You will get just as many advantages from having taller minis as you will have disadvantages, so it does work both ways.

It doesn't matter how bloody far the apple falls from the tree. If the apple fell off of a Granny Smith, that apple is going to grow into a Granny bloody Smith. The only difference is whether that apple grows in the shade of the tree it fell from. |

Yup I'm new to the game. Thanks for your help. I will check it all out. And why wouldn't I want your shock troops? People at my FLGS are really lenient, there is only one "rule shark".

I use these guys, and have a bunch of their heavy weapon team kits. I am looking at adding some Storm troopers to my army, and using the heavily armored dudes that someone else has already posted (and from the same company... they have that uber german sounding name)

I always liked rogue trader era IG better than Cadian or Catachan models. I do like the Victoria models though

If you really wanat my shock-troops... wlelll.. I'm selling them.
the reason you might not want mine is because I expect you want stuff you can still assemble and paint yourself without trying to work out exactly what it was that the previous owner was trying to do and how to finish it. Taking over models from another player can sometimes be a bit of a hassle depending on how your preferences and approach to the hobby develop.
Anyway, I know there are already pics of mobs of WGF troops floating around on the internet, but I may as well do a shameless self-promotion since I just snapped the pictures. This shoudl give you a mediocre idea of what they might end up looking like on the table top and some of the options available to you. They were mixed with GW parts, and in certain cases, there are out-right GW models in there.
the url for the gallery is:
http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/images-38250-38207_Podat%27s%20Imperial%20Guard%20-%20Wgf%20House%20Guard.html
On their own, the WGF troops are... "meh". En masse, they are really quite effective.
remember, dakka offers a zoom function on images directly uploaded to dakkadakka.
@Yonan, Wow! Victoria's stuff is looking pretty good. I really need to check her stuff out more often.
EDIT: corrected the gallery link.

They look cool, but you are right, I would rather have the experience of painting and constructing my own army. I also think that they look a little too much like SM.
Does anyone have more suggestions?

Don't forget about Mad Robot Miniatures!

They're cast in resin, pretty cheap, loads of cool heads, torsos and weapons currently. You could make some not-Valhallans with his new Kurgan Winter Guard set, plus he's got more components coming soon.

poda_t; true, but it was just a suggestion for a full scale squad if he was that way inclined!
For myself I joined his Roll Call for the Kurgans (kinda like a kickstarter) and was happy to fund their development, there's 2 squads of them currently wrapped for Christmas and sitting under the tree... roll on next Wednesday!
But aside from them, the other conversion bits are really good value, really well detailed, really cool as feth if you're after some interesting and characterful components for your Guard, mix and match as you see fit

It's worth mentioning that Vic is also looking at female troopers for some ranges, ie. this pic from 5 months ago. There was something more recent but I couldn't find it. Will be gret having a full range of male and female guard in the same scale and gear. I think this pic was taken before the legs were redone for female troops.

You and me both. However that does remind me to mention Raging Heroes which successfully kickstarted 3 ranges of female minis. Here's a small sample:

Those female Tannerburgers look really good. I think the male legs actually suite them quite well.

I was bummed out that I didn't get around to backing that. I'm gonna have to pick up a few of those characters if they become available later on though.
