If I may ask, why wasn't there enough time? What part of the project is so time sensitive that it couldn't have been delayed a week or a month to properly set up everything to the best of your ability, and thus needed to be admittedly rushed?

This is a great comment.
Overall, I think the biggest disconnect to me is still the background text (the topmost image) and the game description not really matching at all. Imagine if the 'pitch' for 40k was "Imagine a world where a human bureaucracy endlessly expands to fill all of known space. The average citizen is unable to stop this, and must try to exist within the broken system, worshiping a near-dead psychic entity." It's technically true, and might even eb something an interesting game could be based off of, but has a different focus from the actual game.

Why did you change Kickstarter usernames?
I'll echo everyone's comments about not liking the miniatures.
That being said, they are already sculpted (which is better than some kickstarters) and you are going in with a very modest goal of $500 (which you've already met). I hope you and your backers are happy with the project and if so, then that is all it needs to be successful.

Remember kids: pledging blindly for KS 'early birds' may be something you end up regretting.
I think a couple of people there are going to find out the hard way that you can't withdraw a pledge if it causes the project to become unfunded.

I've heard a few people say that.
I've also heard the variation that you can't cancel your pledge if it causes the the project to become unfunded, but only in the last 48 or 24 hours.
So it seems like there are three variations of it - none of which line up with Kickstarter's FAQ:
KS Backer Questions wrote:Can I cancel a pledge?
By pledging, you are committing to supporting that person’s project; canceling that commitment is discouraged. If you must cancel, visit the project page and click “Manage Your Pledge.” At the bottom of the next page you’ll see the “Cancel Pledge” button.
So I'm curious - is there any official statement about the cancellation rules? And why isn't KS making these limitations clearer to backers?
WRT this project - the sculpting work is better than I could do! lol but it's clearly not a finished project. I hope the sculptor keeps practicing and refining their work and in a few years comes back with a more polished project.
Also - maybe this material you are using may be better suited to more cartoony oversized models - Think of Super Dungeon or Krossmaster. Larger figs, more rounded surfaces and less detail - easier to capture in the putty you are using.

From the Terms of Use you sign up to when you register on KS http://www.kickstarter.com/terms-of-use •Backers may increase, decrease, or cancel their pledge at any time during the fundraising campaign, except that they may not cancel or reduce their pledge if the campaign is in its final 24 hours and the cancellation or reduction would drop the campaign below its goal. (I'd be interested if this is built into the software so it would actually prevent a backer from doing so, or whether it's a theoretical thing which backers shoul just not do but wouldn't be prevented from doing) there's also •Backers agree to have sufficient funds or credit available at the campaign deadline to ensure that the pledge will be collectible (so theoretically KS and possibly project creators could chase people who 'bounce' payments.... not that it would be financially viable to do so)

Ah, I'd forgotten the last 24 hours part. Still, it seems a common enough KS practice to pledge for an EB, then drop back in final day to adjust the pledge for stretches....
Having run a couple of crowd funders in the past for our small miniature lines with actual pro sculptors and pretty decent minis with no success then watching this campaign successfully fund and quickly as well definitely makes me seriously consider self cranial lead poisoning!!!!
Well, if you put a ridiculously low funding goal on your project, then you too can get yours funded.

...Wow. I'm kinda scratching my head at a lot of this stuff as well (and that's phrased mostly to avoid a modhammer this time around ) - but that hailstone dragon is kinda funky (in a cute slowed puppy kind of way, but I'd still just might get one if cheap enough - if only to see how this goes ).
The outpost, however, is actually pretty okay. I would like two or so of those, really. However, getting a LOT of stuff I really, really don't even want to think about too much isn't an appealing thought, and I'm not paying $60 (inc intl shipping, right?) or even $70 (after early birds) for those two things, TBH.
Any chance you could make at least the outpost available separately? It looks like nice enough scatter terrain.

I was talking with Barzam the other day, and we both were in agreement on the outpost- it's not bad at all.
I wonder if he sculpted that as well?
We seem to have scared him off now.
I still don't get why people who are into this stuff, passionate about wanting to get their games out there, don't check up with the communities they want to sell to prior to launching in order to get feedback.
If I were to ever go forward with ideas banging around in my head, rest assured I'd be hitting dakka up for feedback (at least if it was gaming related).

I'm not going to comment on the quality of this etc, but what I will say, is judging by the kickstarter, etc. the people responsible for this didn't fully take economic reality into consideration. $55 for a fully painted game set? Assuming they paint it themselves, I don't really see how they intend to supply 26 28mm scale minis, plus 2 considerably sizeable ones, plus a decent sized terrain piece and all the various other elements (cards, measuring devices, 'doodads' etc.) for that much money. I get the concept of economies of scale, but they've only sold 23 sets so far, and I don't imagine they will reach the full 100, seems like its headed for trouble to me...

Perhaps it would be worth just doing a kickstarter for the rules?
Use proxy models from various companies to show them off?
It's hard to really get in to how the rules work from the KS page. To be fair I was skim reading but most people will do that and if they don't jump out at you people will move on.
You've clearly put a lot of thought into this. I think getting the Rules part off the ground first would be the best way to go.
General question: Can a creator cancel a Kickstarter?

I wasn't following that one, but as a project creator I can tell you there is no 'Cancel Project' button once the money is taken. They must have worked something out with Kickstarter directly; if this was their first project they would have had to wait a week or two for the money to get released. (Since we've been running projects since '10 we get the money instantly once its over.)

I'm not sure where the resolution with it is right now, just that the guy who started it has posted that its cancelled, and everyone was saying the money had been drawn out by kickstarter. They were still trying to find out about their refunds last I read. I didn't back it either. Something about how much you were getting for the price just screamed "Run Away!" To me.

They're likely his parents. They can just stop paying for his internet.
Honest question: is this some kind of class project? Or a very creative resume-builder?
