Subject: A Look at Michael Bay's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

I don't know how Mr Bay can take such a winning combination and make it suck.
It's because he's a racist hack with no respect for his subject matter.
I believe you mean he's an idiot.
Okay, my top three list of directors who need to stop:
1. Michael Bay
2. Zach Snyder
3. Ang Lee
Transformers, up and coming turtles, watchmen, upcoming superman/batman movie, first hulk movie. I had another Ang Lee movie that was terrible, but I forgot it.
Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Well he is specifically racist, and sexist and any number of other horrible traits. This is distinct from being an idiot since not all idiots are racists or sexist. Though certainly being an idiot doesn't hurt on those fronts.

I'd swap Zach Snyder for M.Night. Shylamalamadingdong.
I like some of Snyder's movies. 300 was awesome; and Sucker Punch was bewbs and explosions done right! I liked Watchmen too, but know nothing about the comics it was based on, so that may explain that.
We need to just face facts. The 80's are lost to us now. Michael Bay is busy raping those yonder years in front a silent crowd with the camera's rolling and no one can do anything to stop it.
We need to act fast. We must ensure the 90's don't suffer the same fate!

Not to be rude, but other than a slew of buddy cop movies, and the Matrix Trilogy, what did the 90s give us in films?
You had the Rugrats and Futurama, which both pretty much ran themselves into ruin. Michael Bay is welcome to the 90s. The 80s much more commonly picked up an idea and dropped it.

Terminator 2, Saving Private Ryan, Jackie Brown, a lot of really good Disney movies like Aladdin and the Lion King, not to mention Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. But yeah, the list goes on. There was really a lot of good stuff in the 90s.
Manchu wrote: Jurassic Park alone cinematically justifies the '90s.
That was actually one of the first ones that came to mind for me as well, but AgeOfEgos already mentioned it. The Rock, likely Michael Bay's best film, also came out of the 90s.
Yeah, at the risk of being a curmudgeon before my time, I daresay Jurassic Park may have been the Last Great Movie. By "Movie" I mean those films like Ten Commandments, Lawrence of Arabia, or Star Wars that leave you in awe of the scale of the medium itself. There have been some breathless shots here and there since but the Era of Legends seems to have closed with JP. Although I'm not only talking about special effects and panoramic angles, tools like that have not been used in such an inspirational, overwhelming way in anything I've seen since JP at least. I guess the Titanic and Avatar fans will gainsay me there.

He might actually be great for Power Rangers.

Good sir, it seems you have forgotten about one of the worst of them all his name: Uwe Boll
I don't like these turtles. What's up with those photogenetic man lips?
Poor ignorant guardsmen, it be but one of many of the great miracles of the Emperor! The Emperor is magic, like Harry Potter, but more magic! A most real and true SPACE WIZARD! And for the last time... I'm not a space plumber.

Yanno what...... He probably would make a real kick ass power ranger movie. Like no joke here, the original ranger format could be awesome

Couldn't be any worse than the Power Rangers movie(s) we already have, and I say that as someone who enjoys the hell out of the first movie.

Avatar might have been that type of movie, but it failed in its execution. It's well worth watching in 3D, but I own it on DVD and haven't succeeded in rewatching it yet - both times I tried I got bored and stopped.
Also, I'm going to add Ridley Scott to the list. He might have made Alien, but his recent work has been gak.

On the other hand, background wise, they are the product of exposure to a volatile mutagenic compound. Meaning that they should look like grotesque mutants.

Hmm, yeah, I could see Bay actually doing something awesome with the ORIGINAL Power Rangers. They really are in his wheelhouse. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing yet. Lol.

Not even Gladiator?
I love this film and it has some epic scenes in it all the way through. The Colosseum fights are the highlight for me personally.
d-usa wrote: People would just complain about his "black ranger"...
Still not any worse than the original, where the black ranger was a black guy who wore parachute pants and invented a style of martial arts based around hip-hop and break dancing.
Also, the show's only Asian being the yellow ranger. Seriously, Bay can't do anything worse than what we already HAVE in the original Power Rangers.
