Bay's Transformer's: The Turtling

Honestly Michael Bay directing gak fetish films wouldn't be any worse than anything else he's done.

He needs to direct Ghostbusters 3, then it'll be an easy step to him doing an X-Files: Conspiracy movie(they can leave out the Crow), which totally needs to happen.

I honestly don't understand the hate directed at anyone who remakes a story and changes stuff. If you enjoyed the original Transformers, and don't like that Bay changed stuff... can't you still just watch the original Transformers? If you dislike Peter Jackson's incredibly tedious rendition of King Kong, you have two previous movie versions that you can watch instead. Or vice versa.

The whole point of remaking something is to put a different spin on it. Yes, Bay's turtles will be different to the '80s cartoon turtles, who were different to the '90s movie turtles or the original comic turtles. That's a good thing. If you prefer one of those versions over the others, then you have that version. Those who prefer a different version have that version.

I've never read the comics. But I enjoyed the hell out of the '80s cartoon as a kid. I enjoyed the hell out of the '90s movie. I didn't mind the '00s CGI movie, although I found it a little bland. And this, going by the preview, looks like a bit of cinematic fun. If it has humanoid turtles kicking butt, and stuff blowing up, then I'll probably enjoy the hell out of it.

Because I remember that it's based on a rather badly-drawn cartoon from the '80s that had the primary purpose of selling toys, and I don't expect it to be anything but a bit of relatively brainless fun.

Pretty much my take on all the Transformers movies.

Do they have a plot that was thinner than the lace underwear of whatever eye-candy had the female lead? Sure. Plot holes bigger than her boobs? Yeah. Did the majority of the movies not make sense? Mostly. But when I want to watch a movie that stimulates my brain and makes me really think about what is happening then there are a lot of other movies I would pick over Transformers. But if I want to watch giant robots beat each other then I know what I'm getting. Not every movie has to be an Academy Award winning masterpiece, sometimes I just want to shut of my brain for 90 minutes and enjoy the action and/or eye candy.

I'm sure the Turtles will be the second category....

If I wanted to watch fireworks I would go watch fireworks for 90 minutes. If I wanted to watch hot girls with guys who would never get them IRL, Porn.

I want a decent, not bad movie with a plot that isnt pants on head slowed

Hmm... forgot William Fichtner was in this. Slightly miscast perhaps, but he always lends a certain edge to things.

Then watch one of those instead. Problem solved.

Then you shouldn't go to the one featuring 6' tall humanoid ninja turtles.

The trailer looks fun, and the 8 year old in me is eager to see a new version of my beloved Heroes in a Half Shell.

I kinda like Donny's techno rig on his shell, and the action figure looks like he is rocking some night vision goggles or something. Very cool.

A plot can be both GOOD while have a ridiculous premise. The "Well I just want to watch KERSPLOSIONS" is just an excuse for people who dont want to think. We live in a world where amazing plots are backed up by rediculous premises(Marvel movies)

Well this is going to end up like all the others of Bay's movies, and well the Shredder might the only cool looking thing.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his need

Sorry, but the Marvel movies don't generally have good plots. They are usually painfully predictable with the added bonus of shallow, one dimensional characters.

Mining TMNT for good plot lines seems like an exercise in futility.

While most of the the Marvel movies are mediocre (or worse) there are a few standout ones like Iron Man 1, X-men 1&2, Spiderman 1&2 and The Avengers.

I'd be perfectly happy with that plot, d-usa.

However, I imagine this isn't going to be that good...

So I think I like this? I think?

I'm still perplexed how they miss the opportunity to cast someone like Emma Stone, Isla Fisher, or Karen Gillan--you know, actually redheads--as April.

Emma Stone is too busy playing a blonde.

The most I can say is that people's worries about the turtles being "Hurrdurr sooperdooper surious" seem to be unfounded. That being said. I will watch for Ku-KERSPLOSIONS!

Didn't realize playing Gwen disqualified her from this one. Sorry about that.

Not saying this is the case, but she might have a contractual clause to prevent her from doing so. The entertainment industry is weird like that.

Just trying to see if you thought the same way about other hair colored characters being done the same way.

If you're getting on them for using a brunette for a redhead, why not for Sony using a redhead for a blonde?

I would have paid extra to see ex-companion Karen Gillan in a TMNT movie. T'would be even better if Mikey made a Doctor Who Reference

To be fair, there hasn't been one in the new 'toon, either.

I have nothing really constructive to add to this conversation than to say that Emma stone is a natural blonde FYI.

Other than that I'm very excited after that trailer!
