I am currently working on some chaos raptors/warp talons. I have some ideas but, need more. Did some search's to see for idea on how to add effects to the jetpacks. I was wondering if anyone had some links that might point me in the right direction ? Can be green stuff ideas or just painting/pigment effects.
Thnx.

For my SM assault troops, I used steel wool and shaped it into smoke plumes, glued them to the exhaust, then painted flames at the bases of the plumes. Looks fantastic.

Sounds nice. I'll even look into that.

People here (myself included) are happy to help people when they have questions, that is the point of this forum. You asked for links and ideas for jump packs, I offered a couple links and a video with ideas, there is no reason to be so rude about it.

I'm not being rude. I have told you in PM's as well. If anything you're grasping at things you shouldn't. You're posts are collapsed because I really don't care to hear what you have to say.

I hate to tell you this... but I like Scooty's idea the best, lol.
Smoke plumes I think are cool for Orks. I personally think Spehss Mareenz wouldn't take off with a huge plume of smoke and fire.
I've never seen a jet belch smoke and red-yellow flames because that's not what produces thrust. Even the early jets in WW2 didn't belch smoke and flames. The most you'll see is a nice, well directed afterburner flame.
I can't think of any way of doing that other than some nice OSL. You could have several clear acrylic cones of varying colour and light them with an LED. That would be cool.

I used clump foliance and brass wire to make explosion markers. Very easy to use and get just the way you want it ... if you want a jet of flame and smoke coming out of your packs. Otherwise, I liked that OSL tutorial.
Those jump pack effects are super cool, but I'm a scratch guy. The jump packs in question are the jet blade looking things right? See if you can find some tiny swirled candelabra bulbs to fit to the packs. You could paint the parts you want and get the mirage effect from the rest.

I'll just ignore that thank you.

I don't know you from a bar of soap, I simply offer my honest opinion that I think smoke and flames are misplaced on a Marine/CSM jump pack and you give me this rude response back and you reply saying "I'll just ignore that thank you", learn some frakking manners.

My ignoring your comment about "Scott". If you followed this thread you would know why. Don't take offence to it. Then again why did you bring it up to be funny ?
Thnx for assuming I was ignoring your whole comment. Keep in mind you're the one who brought Scott into it and LOL'ed about it. I already dropped this issue before. I will apologize for your misunderstanding of what I was ignoring. However, I didn't take to kindly to your remark about Scott when it was a closed issue by me and the moderators.

No it's his simple misunderstanding about what part of his remark I was ignoring.

Thnx that might be in the direction I need. I know I have some brass wire around here from my tank models.

Good question.
However, it certainly needs to stop - immediately.
And as Manchu noted above, the excellent IGNORE feature on Dakka Dakka only works if you use it fully.
Thanks!
I did that however. As I noted in my post someone decided to poke fun at the situation. I choose to ignore that part of the comment. He took offence to it. I did however explain that I was ignoring his poking fun at it.
